I've used a lot of tablets over the years, both androids and Ipads. The super glossy screens were always prone to glare and fingerprints. The matte screen on the TCL is different. It is much less prone to glare, and doesn't show fingerprints. I primarily use my tablets for studying, though I did try a game or two on the TCL. They ran well. Sound is loud, but quality is just OK. The screen is very easy to read, which very important to me. I like that this tablet came with a good case and stylus. It's frequently difficult to find cases for less common tablets. The way the stylus magnetically attaches to the side of the tablet is clever. Battery life is good. The overall take on android is pleasant, without a bunch of extra junk. If you're looking for a tablet for reading and studying, this is a good choice.

Overall a very good tablet at a very good price. It has plenty of power to do everything I want including basic video editing (I added a 256 chip). The screen is bright with good color, plenty good resolution for me, but maybe gamers want higher rez. It is light to hold, battery life is very good particularly on standby. Only gripe is it's very slow to boot, on the order of three minutes before you can use it. I'm still getting used to Android 15 having different keystrokes and swipes from what I'm used to, but they are all there, it's just on me to learn them. So, happy with my purchase!

Really happy with this purchase. The screen is huge and super smooth when you're writing or drawing with the stylus. It actually feels natural, not laggy like some cheaper tablets I've tried. The display is easy on my eyes, which is great because I use it for hours taking notes at work. The stylus comes with it, which saved me money since I didn't have to buy one separately. I mainly got it for digital note-taking but I've been using it for sketching too. Works great for both. The picture quality is really clear and everything runs smoothly. For the price, you're getting a solid tablet that does what it's supposed to do. Would definitely recommend it!

This tablet is nice. It has a bright and colorful display that is responsive and easy to work with. The tablet is decent sized. It is easy to hold and isn't cumbersome. The tablet looks like it is well made and feels strong and durable. The stylus pen is lightweight and provides a nice way to communicate and interact with tablet. The tablet is fast and doesn't suffer from lag or slowness. This tablet has been a nice option that is easy to work with and quite powerful. It is a nice addition to my kit.

So I have a very specific use case I was looking to fulfill and due to this I am not going to look at the this tablet vs that tablet or the mid range specs I am going to discuss what I wanted and what I got with this purchase. I have been looking for a larger than 10.1" e-reader or tablet that runs a current version of Android, 13 or higher, so I can use it to read ttrpg books. I mean yes I will read other books ie: prose, comics, the occasional medical journal, or legal document as well but mainly I wanted something sized correctly with a decent battery and a readable screen. I have looked at Boox, reMarkable, the kindle scribe and various other e-ink readers and either they have been out of my price range or not good with PDFs. Then on the tablet side to get something in the size I wanted I am spending close to a thousand dollars to get an ipad, high end Lenovo, or Samsung. Which if it would have been perfect sure np but all have various comprises and that those prices I don't want to compromise. Then TCL comes out with the nxtpaper series. Ok these look promising. Well I missed the opportunity to get the nxtpaper 11 at a reasonable price. So I waited. Then 2023 TCL announced the nxtpaper 14, my interest was piqued. New version of the screen technology, cool, bigger size, oh even better, and then it doesn't cost a thousand dollars, sold where do I buy one. No seriously where can I buy one? Finally in 2025 it's released for sale, thank you google news for showing me articles about the tablet finally being available in America.

NXTPAPER is more hype than function. I bought this hoping the technology would live up to how it hypes itself up to be. I was initially excited when I opened it, the packaging was clean and it comes with a usb c cable in white. I was excited for the 120hz screen as well. The battery life seems nice, the speakers are good. However the main selling point for this is the screen technology, and it is honestly really not that great. It has 3 screen modes - Regular, Color E Ink, and Black and White E Ink mode. The regular color mode with the night light blue light filter does a better job at reducing eye strain than the built in E Ink features do. I gave this a fair chance and did some reading for a few hours with the e ink mode and afterwards my eyes were sore and my vision was blurry - the same symptoms I get when reading on any digital device. I have diagnosed dry eye and half receded meibomian glands so I can speak to this very well in terms of eye strain considering I have experience testing various screen technologies - Laptop, PC screens, phones, etc. I cannot recommend this device for typical long term reading, I instead purchased a standard color e reader and will give that a shot. 3 stars for functions such as speakers, design, speed, and refresh rate. But it doesn't do well the one thing it was made to do.

Haven't had it very long, but so far it's done well. Standby battery life seems to be good. I had to charge it often while I was installing things and playing with settings to get it set up how I want. But since then it's been decent. The pen works okay, minimal lag, but it's kinda noisy "tap tap tap" when writing, and pales in comparison to Samsung s-pen. I do wish they offered a slightly softer pen nib. This is by no means a workhorse tablet, but it's quite good considering the price point, and in my opinion the viewing experience is fantastic. I got this mainly to use as a color reader since the true e-ink displays are too muted. Color on this is much better, and it's size is nearly perfect to not be cumbersome but still large enough to view a whole comic book page, with the 3:2 screen ratio being perfect for that.
