  • Snag one of these while you still can
I bought this TV for use primarily as a PC monitor, and it's passing that test with flying colors. The panel I received is clean with excellent white-screen uniformity (which is important for a monitor.) This is one of the cleanest and brightest LED panels I've ever had. I also watch Prime quite a bit as it is my main streaming service, and after setting the TV up, I watched Maleficent 2 in 4k and it looked gorgeous. After that, I put on Terminator 2 to see how it would handle an older lower-resolution film. It looked amazing given the age of that movie. I have watched both of those movies recently on a Samsung Q70R (my old main TV), a Samsung QN800B, and this TCL. Maleficent looks amazing on all three but the TCL slightly edges the other two. Terminator 2 by far looked best on the TCL. While the QN800B is pretty good 8K TV, it fails against the TCL in a few notable ways: 1. The screen is dirtier - you can clearly see the LED grid pattern whenever anything with a lot of blue or medium gray (like a sky) is displayed on the QN800B. It's distracting in real-world content and it's annoying. The TCL is much cleaner with no distracting dirty-screen effect. 2. The QN800B also has an anti-glare coating that makes any light that hits it refract into a rainbow smear across the entire screen. Additionally, it has a wide-angle viewing layer that lowers the native contrast of the panel, which the TCL does not have, so the Samsung has wider viewing angles but the TCL has better contrast. For me, the latter is considerably more important. 3. The QN800B is very thin with an extremely heavy stand which makes the TV awkward to move and easy to bend. The TCL is thicker and yet also a little lighter which makes moving and installing it a lot less nerve-wracking. I also have tested gaming with this TCL, and it's fantastic. Resident Evil 2, Resident Evil 4, Forza 7, Assassin's Creed Origins and Injustice 2 all looked incredible on this TV at 8K. Overall I am very happy with gaming on this panel. While this has so far been a pretty glowing review, no TV is perfect. The TCL's main weakness is 480p content (such as a lot of Youtube videos, a cable box, or DVD's). While standard def content is perfectly watchable on it, it is not great and this is an inherent drawback of 8K sets in general, that they can only do so much upscaling. The TV is not magic. It's not easy to get standard def content to look good on an 8K panel. Just something to consider if you watch a lot of SD content - this probably wouldn't be the TV for you. I don't typically watch a lot of SD stuff so I was happy with that trade-off. The TV's local dimming also has a tendency to crush blacks a bit, noticeably more so than either of my Samsungs. Again, for me this isn't a major problem, but video purists might take issue with it. Also, there is a little blooming around bright objects against a dark background, but it's pretty minimal. You barely notice it in everyday content. Overall, even though this TV is a bit older now, I think it offers great value if you can still snag one at a certain price, and I like it better than the 2022 Samsung QN800B. For the past few months, Amazon has had them for ~$1300, and for that price, this TCL is a steal. If you've been considering an 8K TV, you may want to jump on one while they're still somewhat available, because most manufacturers have been pivoting away from them for various reasons. ... show more

  • Impressed with TCL
Size: 75 in
I have this TV next to a LG CX 4K which would be considered a close competitor to this tv so will mention some comparisons in this review to help someone who might be considering which one to choose. The TCL 6 Series 8K tv has an impressive picture on it. It has vibrant colors and great contrast for a LED tv. The contrast is very close to my LG CX OLED. With the color saturation, brightness, and the 8K upscaling of the mini LED it will outshine the CX in a lot of scenes. The fine detail in the 8K picture is impressive compared to a 4K, even considering that there is very little native 8K content the upscaling from 720P and up is very noticeable. However the TV does have some faults to it. The colors do get washed out the more of an angle you sit from the TCL. Pretty noticable compared to an OLED. If you sit on an angle from this tv you will lose some of the picture quality. More so the wider angle you get. Not that bad on slight angles. It also took some fine tuning to get the motion control to look smooth. From factory settings it can appear some what choppy compared to the CX, but this was a fixable issue by changing the picture mode to sports and turning on game mode. My personal opinion with the 2 TVs next to each other I would take the TCL 8K Mini LED over my CX 4K OLED. If you have it set up in a place where you will have a wide viewing angle you will want to keep in mind that the biggest flaw on this TV is it will washout and lose picture quality the more of an angle you get from it. ... show more

  • Best 8K TV On A Budget
I was between this TV and the 65inch LG 8K. The LG has 4 2.1 HDMI ports but no VRR. This TV only has 2 2.1 HDMI ports but it does have VRR. I figured not a big deal because I could just get an 8K 2.1 HDMI switch when the time comes. Also, VRR is important to me for gaming. Not to mention I had a HORRIBLE experience with LG where my TV was under warranty, found a shop that actually had the panel to fix the TV, but LG pretty much gave me the middle finger instead. Having this TV is like rediscovering TV for the first time. Cable TV, streaming, UHD disk, PS5; everything looks amazing on this TV. Sure there's no real 8K content yet except on YouTube but still, the way it makes everything else look doesn't matter. Paired with my LG atmos sound system I now have a complete home theater. Few things thing I will say is that any content under 480p that isn't upscaled thru a UHD player isn't going to look that much better. The TV seems to have an issue with my Knivio HDMI switch where it wont recognize it unless I unplugg & plug the HDMI cord. Lastly, I tested the actual TV speakers and lets just say if I didn't already have a sound system I would at the very least buy a good soundbar to go with this TV. ... show more

  • Having problems after 2 weeks.
The media could not be loaded. Originally i loved this tv but after only a couple of days, i had some major problems with it. There is a flickering line at the bottom of the tv and occasionally and for no reason the screen goes blank to a white screen. I can still hear the audio but no definable picture. I was playing my Xbox and the screen went white while I was playing it. I saw a previous review which pretty much had the same problem. Amazon was great with the replacement which should be here on dec 27 and the customer service was exemplary. I will update this review with the new tv once i get it Update: jan 2, 2022. Well so far so good. The screen and picture are excellent. For the price i paid, and with my xbox series x and ps5, the tv is vrr capable and 8k. I will add a star for now. ... show more

  • Beware
I DID love my 8k 65 inch tv. But now it’s just a black screen. Won’t turn off or on. I worked with the technology team and they sent me to the warranty team. It has been a week with no tv and warranty is not responding to my many requests for updates. I think they should send me a new one, instead of putting a fix on this one. Very frustrating!! I paid too much for this one to have it frustrating me! ... show more

The best 4K television is an 8K television. What more can be said? And I even got this at a discounted price of $1299.😁😁
