My main TV is a 75" U8K and I am pleased with the quality of the image, especially the brightness. I picked up this little 50 incher to serve as a desktop monitor and to use for personal TV watching. For $219.00 on sale it is a great deal. A few years ago I laid out over $3,000.00 for a 55" LCD TV, the largest made at the time. Evolution of LCD technology is something else. This TV provides a very good picture with lots of adjustability, which I appreciate. The black level is good enough for casual viewing, and the brightness is OK for the price level. It's a perfect choice for my application and I harbor no regrets. Leave it to the techno geeks to drill down to measured details of the display, ,..but for me this is a solid choice for a mid-size tv, if you buy with a modicum of quality expectations. The sound is decent, not tinny but I connected a pair of Edifier 1700 series self powered speakers to bring home the soundstage. It all works very nicely. ... show more

I hadn’t heard of the TCL brand before but it has been great. Incredibly easy to set up as a smart tv! No need to have Apple TV or a fire stick. You can just sign in to your streaming services. They also have access to some of the free streaming services like Pluto. Picture quality is great!

The picture quality is good It's got HDR which some don't, of course its not quite on the level of a Samsung or LG. It's also no where near the price. The sound quality is pretty good. I've never had an issue with the smart tv function, sometimes its a bit slow but that could also be the fact the Remote seems to generally connect to the TV via Bluetooth and can take a few seconds to reconnect if not used for a while. ... show more

I purchased this for my parents, my father has Dementia, and they don't get out much anymore. My Mother loves it, much larger than what they had, and easier for them to see. I purchased the same TV for myself last Christmas, so I knew that it had a great picture. Very crisp and clear, gives the illusion that it's in 3D. It's so good, other TVs just look fuzzy to me now, and make my head hurt. I highly recommend this TV.     • Unusable "smart" TV

Picture quality is good for a cheap secondary TV in the house. I wanted a google TV because roku, firetv, and apple all bite the big one! Yeah, it's a noticably slower than the add-on chromecast, but what do you expect at this price point? Update 2: The system freaked out today. It kept looping like it was trying to restart so I had to unplug it to reset the system and then all was fine. I turned off the standby feature so that hopefully it'll reboot every time I power it up. Went from 4 stars to 3. Update 3: yes, it now reboots every time I power it on, but it will still die in the middle of streaming a show (different apps) at least once a day. I have to physically pull the plug and restart everything. This is now a one star review and I completely regret taking a chance on TCL. I'm hoping an external Chromecast will stop these issues. I wish it had RCA out (to feed my secondary amp for the outdoor speakers. I used the headphone jack to RCA) and also wish you could program the IR remote to control the AVR volume (ARC didn't work). But, again, for this price, you can't expect everything. The TCL free channels were buggy at best, but you can stick to Pluto if you want free content. I've become a complete convert on these TCL TV's. I use this TV on my back patio and it offers incredible value for the money. I run the entire TV off the home wifi and the Google system and apps work flawlessly. The picture is brighter and nicer than previous versions and I believe the sound might have even improved. One note is that previous TCL's that I have owned operated on Roku system. Although this Google system works fine, the Roku operating system definitely works faster although they're both easy to use. ... show more

Everything from 4k & HDR picture, to sound with dolby atmos, 240motion rate, and overall appearance is amazing! Also really like the built in wifi, I always had wifi issue with streaming movies and playing games but this resolved that issue also!
