I used this auger to plant an assortment of spring bulbs. Soil was dry and the holes filled in partially. Moist soil would have made this tool easier to use

Good for sift dirt, planting bulbs or small plants. It is not meant to use in hard, dry soil. It is a good tool for gardeners.

    • A must have tool for transplanting in the garden!
We are using a commercial grade weed blocker so digging holes for transplants needed to be more precise. This 3X12 auger combined with a slimmer 1.75X12 auger works great! I did take the leading blade of the auger and put a sharp edge on it as the factory edge wouldn’t dig in our clay soil. I used the narrower auger to make a pilot hole and then the 3X12 easily finished the job. I planted 40 tomatoes and the auger worked well and showed little wear if any. It took practice but done correctly the auger didn’t need me to apply force to dig which extended the battery life of the drill. Really well made and should bring many years of use. ... show more

Works great in a tilled garden or soil but, will not work on hard ground or grass.
