Disclaimer: I tattoo as a hobby, not as a profession, so while this is my word from a hobbyist's perspective, it probably doesn't apply or hold up to the word and effort of someone whose career is centered around tattoo art. Over 10 years ago, I bought a 50ish dollar tattoo kit, it had coil machines and not rotary ones. When my camper trailer (primary home at the time) fell in, I lost a lot of stuff in it, that old cheap kit included. So I saw this and decided to get it as an upgrade. It comes with one rotary machine, the means to power said machine, liner needles and round shader needles, ink, practice skins, and other little things that are nice but not fully necessary to be able to completely use the set. Upgrading to one that runs on a battery is mindblowing, as I was used to being bound by where I can plug the power supply in and then the length of cable that I have to manage while using my old machine. Because this one runs on a battery and is rechargeable, I don't have to worry about any of that. The machine itself is a little bulky, but nothing that makes it unusable or a hindrance. I was still able to practice on some extra skins I had and get a feel for the new machine. The inks, I usually either toss them for name brand stuff, or use them on the practice skins, so I did the latter in this case, and the inks seemed to be passable in quality. I'm sure with continued use, I'll get plenty of improvement and enjoyment out of using this kit. If you're looking to replace an old kit like I did, or just start out, this one seems to be a good choice without overcomplicating things or having too much stuff which can be overbearing to those new to the tattooing. ... show more

    • Perfect for Beginners - Comes With Everything You Need to Start Including Ink
This is a very nice unit - I really like the huge display that gives you the remaining power and such. Nice and lightweight - this is a pleasure to use without a cord. If you are starting out this kit can save you money as every single component you need - including needles, ink and even practice skin are in the box. The battery seems excellent - I used 30 minutes or so and it still had 65% charge indicated. This really is a perfect economical set up for starting out in this art form. ... show more

Overall, a very nice, well put together kit. Would be appropriate for both beginning tattooists and more advanced users. Here's what I did and didn't like: The tattoo pen itself is nicely made, but I don't like the grip area. It looks as though it would be comfortable, but I find that the smaller diameter, angled tip doesn't work for me. It's probably great for most people, but just not for the way I hold my machine. I love the battery pack, and the fact that the unit is easy to see and adjust. Again, a nicely made unit. I also like the inks. Though there is not a great deal of choice here, the colors are basic an the bottles are large enough that you can do a lot of practicing. Generally, most kits have inks that are much, much smaller. I love, love, love the needle cartridges. You get 10 liners (1005RL), along with 10 round shaders (1205RS). Really beautiful, well designed and made cartridges. The last thing I would like to point out is the tattoo practice sheets. One sheet is a good quality, plain on both-sides skin. The other however, is plain on one side, but also has pre-printed tattoo outlines for the beginner to get accustomed to using the tools of the trade. Also included are power cord (clip cord) with RCA plug, two rolls of rubberized grip tape (most kits have only one) and a decent supply of ink caps. There is also a single pair of black latex exam gloves. The one thing not included in the kit is a sheet or two of tattoo design transfer paper. its a little bit on the heavy side , but you can get used to it , it comes with everything you need to start practicing, pen, power supply, ink, ink cups, grip tape, also comes with a couple of practice skins and one of then comes with some prefill stencilos to proactice the lineouts. a good kit for begginers. ... show more

This has the basics. This pen has the power whether battery or wired. Its heavy on the needle end and a bit big for small hands. The battery is very nice. Great beginners pen for larger hands.

Get machine for beginners or using this as a backup to your primary machine. Nice amount of power, not too loud, not crazy "vibratey" or anything like that. Overall a good tattoo machine.
