This tattoo gun is actually very comfortable to hold and seems to be very effective in its small size. I do have large hands, so maybe that is a factor. I have only started practicing with tattoo art, and I am not an expert, but I think this is a great beginner's kit to start learning. It comes with many smaller colors, and extra 1oz of black, which is the most commonly used color. There were only two sheets of practice skins, so I will have to order more, but the skins are easy to use and take ink well. I like that this comes with a number of needle options, so you can get a feel for them. I think I'm going to order some 1003RL needles for fine detail work, but it comes with a good selection to start. The other items in the box are helpful, like the grip tape for the tattoo gun, that keeps it clean and gives some grip. Some items missing from this are plastic wrap and dentist bibs or absorbent material for covering your work space, and more gloves, it comes with one pair only. There are more items for using on skin, but I'm just practicing on rubber skin at this time.

I am very pleased with this tattoo gun. It’s so easy to use and change the needle cartridges. I am new to tattooing and I feel as though this is great for a beginner and practicing on fake skin. It holds a charge for a very long time.

I didn’t understand it at first why it had 9 different mode settings until i asked another tattoo artist. When i learned, we didn’t have pen style machines. We had coils and rotary so my setup was way different. The Solong branded logo displayed on the top button of this machine when pressed puts the user into 9 diff mode settings which are used for dotwork tattooing. I do dotwork style, but i personally find this feature on the machine to be more of a hindrance than a helper. I am used to just running the machine constant and knowing when to ink. But that’s me, I’m old school, that may not be you and that’s fine as this may be a helpful feature to you. The display light is super bright to the point i had trouble figuring out which button did what. I did not find a way to lessen the brightness, so i think you’re stuck with it. I like that it is a two tone color machine, looks cool, but i wish it had adjustable needle depth - it doesn’t. Solong put all these nice adjustable frequencies in it, and gave the user some basic items to get started with but no adjustable needle depth - it’s a letdown. There are kits out there that have this feature and then some for either lower or a bit more in price some of which offer more too. It’s hard for me to recommend this one as i am more middle of the road on it. It’s lightweight and runs kinda quiet with not much vibration. I could go either way on it honestly.
