If you need a telephoto zoom, don't think JUST BUY IT! Save the money from Canon equivalent for another lens or another fun toy. This is top quality stuff! When I was looking into the 70-200 I rented the canon the sigma and the tamron to test them all. The sigma was soft and could never seem to focus, so it was a hard pass. The Canon 70-200 2.8 M3 and the G2 were to my eye NO different. I took it into lightroom and had a hard time telling the difference. The only noticeable difference is the Tamron seems to have a TAD more vignetting. And I mean a TINY BIT! Nothing that cant be fixed in a fraction of a second with lightroom. And and with Canon costing $2100 and tamron at $1100 it was a no brainer. The difference was not enough to justify the $1000 difference. And I was able to add the tamron 90mm Macro G2 which is also an amazing lens and still for 2 lenses was less than the cost of the Canon. Tamron is now my go to lens. I have the entire G2 line. And I certainly will upgrade to the G3 when it comes out. 15-30mm, 24-70, 70-200, 150-600 and the 90mm all G2 and EVERY ONE IS AMAZING!! So much nicer looking than the canon white too. The build quality is superb. It is heavy and rugged. Pretty too! Just keep in mind they are all pretty heavy with the 150-600 at the top followed by the 70-200 so bring a tripod or start lifting weights. But I just rest my elbows on my chest and all is well. To me is totally worth it. And I HIGHLY recommend the Tap In Console. My 24-70 I bought used and the focus was off a bit. But I was able to dial it in with the tap in console. If I had to do it again and I had money to blow I would STILL get the G2 and use the extra money for more fun stuff. Thank you Tamron for these SUPERB Lenses!!! ... show more
