Description

The 70-300mm F/4.5-6.3 Di III RXD (Model A047Z) for Nikon Z mirrorless cameras is a telephoto zoom lens designed and created so photographers of all skill levels can enjoy high quality images comfortably. It achieves the world's smallest size and lightest weight, coming in at 5.9 in. long with a maximum diameter of 77mm, and weighing just 20.5 oz. With special emphasis on resolving power, Tamron has deployed special lens elements appropriately arranged to correct chromatic aberration, generally very strong in a telephoto lens, as well as other aberrations. Users can enjoy high-resolution images combined with the stunning bokeh qualities that are achievable only with a telephoto lens. The lens also incorporates the RXD (Rapid eXtra-silent stepping Drive) unit, a high-speed precision AF drive system that is remarkably quiet. The 70-300mm is a versatile lens for photographing landscapes, sports and other action, pets and wildlife and more. The lens also demonstrates its potential for portrait shooting, casual snapshots and scenarios that require you to be mobile and shoot handheld, like sporting events. With the Nikon Z-mount version, users can employ the dedicated TAMRON Lens Utility software. This feature enables users to easily update the lens to the latest firmware themselves, without going through the camera. On the firmware information screen, users can confirm that their lens has the latest version and perform an update if newer firmware is available. Designed for full-frame, the lens is at home on APS-C mirrorless cameras and provides a 105-450mm equivalent field-of-view.

  • Wow! Great Lens
I’m amazed by the quality of this lens—especially for the price. I compared it to my Nikkor Z 24-200mm lens(over the 70-200mm range) and the Tamron was as sharp or sharper in every case. The 24-200 Nikkor is not an S lens, but it’s a very good lens. The Tamron focuses quickly and accurately. I have the Nikkor Z 100-400 lens and love it (unfortunately I’m traveling and don’t have it with me so I haven’t compared picture quality between it and the Tamron). However, the Z 100-400 mm weighs almost 3 pounds. The Tamron is only 300 mm maximum but also just over 1 pound. I’m 77 years old, so the weight difference is important. For most photos in the 100+ range, the Tamron is my go to lens. ... show more

  • Nice lens
I like that ability to zoom with the lens. Focus is a little slow for sports. But for the price it’s a good lens.

  • Incredibly Powerful Lens for Enthusiast
For those of us who are "serious hobbyists" this is, without a doubt, a perfect zoom lens. For a Z-mount lens, the price is fantastic compared to similar options currently available. Yes, it's a variable F-stop up to 6.3, which could potentially be a frustration when zooming to 300 mm in very low light situations. But how common is that, honestly? For me personally, that's a rare scenario. I'm extremely impressed with the clarity across the entire focal range, and the autofocus speed is solid as well. Highly recommended! ... show more

  • Great Lens for the Non-professional
During a recent photo trip I had the opportunity to compare the results of my Z6 and this lens with a top-of-the-line Nikon Z camera/lens. My system held up very well side to side. Add to that the size, weight and cost of this lens makes it a great choice.

  • Sharp through most of its range but embarrassingly soft in distant/infinity shots @ 200 - 300mm
I have owned two copies and both suggest quality control issues at Tamron. The first was purchased from a different retailer and was definitely shipped new, but had a Sony mount lens in the Nikon box. This Amazon copy is almost a winner, matching the Nikkor Z 24-120 f4 in its overlapping range and doing well a bit north of 200mm. It is so bad above that point through to 300mm as to be embarrassing. Quite frankly, cropping Z 24-120 to 400% yields a sharper result than the Tamron at less than 100%. In fact, digital zoom on an iPhone looks better as well. It is the worst I have seen in more than a decade. I know this is not everyone's experience and that is part of the problem. I have tried two and neither should have gotten out of the factory. Keep this in mind before dropping your money. ... show more

  • Great 70-300mm Lens for my Nikon Z6
I bought this lens to add to my Nikon Z24-200 lens when I travel on photography-oriented trips. It's nice to have the extra reach to get in on close stuff with on my Nikon Z6. I have Tamron lenes ... I currently use on my Nikon D500. With the transition to Nikon Mirrorless cameras ... the Tamron 70-300 lens works great for me on my Z6 as a photo enthusiast. ... show more

  • Great for Nikon Z6ii
I am an amateur photographer who has used SLR and DSLR cameras for decades. I bought this Tamron lens for my Nikon Z6ii DSLR camera so I could have a 300mm telephoto zoom lens without paying Nikon a fortune for their version. It works great -- lightweight, small, good range, good photos. I am happy with it. ... show more
