Description

The Tamron 18-300mm F3.5-6.3 is the world’s first lens for APS-C mirrorless cameras with a 16.6x zoom ratio, the greatest feature of this lens, covering wide-angle to an ultra-telephoto range (27mm to 450mm full-frame equivalent). With this broad coverage, the lens empowers shooting in a wide variety of situations including everyday life and travel snapshots with wide-angle, dynamic ultra-telephoto, and macro photography. Its AF drive system uses Tamron’s VXD (Voice-coil eXtreme-torque Drive) linear motor autofocus mechanism for superior quietness and agile performance in still and video modes. The lens includes special optical elements arranged precisely to maintain high resolution performance from edge-to-edge and provide high image quality making it the best of all-in-one zoom lenses. Moreover, with an MOD (Minimum Object Distance) of 5.9” at 18mm, and a remarkable maximum magnification ratio of 1:2, this lens performs astonishingly well when shooting up close. This lens is equipped with Tamron’s proprietary VC (Vibration Compensation) mechanism, effectively reducing image blur caused by camera shake in low-light conditions or in the ultra-telephoto range at slower shutter speeds. Also, same as most other Tamron lenses for mirrorless cameras, the lens features a 67mm filter size. With a wide variety of other features for comfortable shooting, this is a highly versatile lens that allows you to easily enjoy high image quality from wide-angle to ultra-telephoto and paves the way for eciting new photographic experiences.

  • Love it so far!
Love the versatility of the lens. Going to be my new everyday lens. I’m just a newbie so I don’t mind if it’s not as sharp as a $2k lens….at this point it’s not the lens’ fault if a picture is off…it’s me! Ha

  • Does what it’s supposed to do. Great for travel and sports. Zoom is a bit too tight.
I’m a retired pro photographer. I have lots of lenses. This one is super at what it was designed for. A one stop, compact, superzoom. It’s sharp enough, light enough, and feels good in the hand. I do wish the zoom was smoother, a little less work to zoom out to 300, especially when shooting sports where i’m zooming in and out all day. But aside from this issue, it’s a keeper. ... show more

  • Great Pictures
This was a great addition to my photography collection. I am an animal photographer, and this was a great addition. It snapped on my camera body easily, and it has great features. Pictures come out clear. The telephoto part works great, allows me take pictures from a distance.

  • Good general purpose lens
If I could have only one lens for the rest of my life, it’s this one. Things I don’t like: It’s large, so it doesn’t fit in my smallest camera bag. Things I do like: It produces amazing photos. WIthout that, the rest is meaningless. This lens delivers. I never feel like I could have gotten a better photo with a better lens. It has a decent aperture range for a zoom lens. I’m not married to the idea you can only get a good bokeh background with a super tiny F-Stop. Even as a beginner, this lens has enough of a range, I have enough tricks we can pull it off together. It has an amazing range. I can photograph birds in the tree across the street, a joust at a Renaissance Festival, and a friend sitting across a very narrow living room all with one lens. I don’t care for swapping in the middle of things, and being able to get good shots near and far is a top priority for me. It’s not that heavy. I can shoot handheld no problem. It’s easy to manual focus. Yes it has auto focus. No, there are no problems with that. But sometimes the camera wants to focus on one thing and I want to focus on another. This lens is easy to get the things I want in focus to be in focus. It’s a perfect lens for the Sony A6000. ... show more

  • Do-everything lens
Using it with the Sony a6400. I bought this for travel and to get longer reach than the Sony 55-210. At first I thought this was huge, but I've got used to the size. I got it for the longer focal length, but I like that it can go as wide as 18 mm without having to do a lens change. I took it on vacation and didn't pack a second lens. It's not too heavy on an APS-C body. One day I walked 20 miles and took 600 pictures. When I wasn't holding it, it was around my body with the Peak Design Slide Lite. The weight didn't bother my arms our shoulder. The zoom ring feels solid but not too tight. I can easily rotate the focus ring with my left thumb. I'm very happy with the photos. The Sony A6400 + Tamron 18-300 feels like the perfect pair. Also, kudos to the seller and Amazon delivery. It was delivered by Amazon instead of the post office or shipping company, and the driver required an adult signature. ... show more

  • No warranty and no support.
They advertise there is a 6 year warranty. But nobody confirms it. You try to get a copy of the warranty and they tell you send and email to an address that doesn’t exist. The Tamron website is the same. You try to look up the warranty, the page doesn’t exist. Amazon this is starting to get old. Could you vet the people and product on your site a little better. ... show more
