Description

The Tamron 18-300mm F3.5-6.3 is the world’s first lens for APS-C mirrorless cameras with a 16.6x zoom ratio, the greatest feature of this lens, covering wide-angle to an ultra-telephoto range (27mm to 450mm full-frame equivalent). With this broad coverage, the lens empowers shooting in a wide variety of situations including everyday life and travel snapshots with wide-angle, dynamic ultra-telephoto, and macro photography. Its AF drive system uses Tamron’s VXD (Voice-coil eXtreme-torque Drive) linear motor autofocus mechanism for superior quietness and agile performance in still and video modes. The lens includes special optical elements arranged precisely to maintain high resolution performance from edge-to-edge and provide high image quality making it the best of all-in-one zoom lenses. Moreover, with an MOD (Minimum Object Distance) of 5.9” at 18mm, and a remarkable maximum magnification ratio of 1:2, this lens performs astonishingly well when shooting up close. This lens is equipped with Tamron’s proprietary VC (Vibration Compensation) mechanism, effectively reducing image blur caused by camera shake in low-light conditions or in the ultra-telephoto range at slower shutter speeds. Also, same as most other Tamron lenses for mirrorless cameras, the lens features a 67mm filter size. With a wide variety of other features for comfortable shooting, this is a highly versatile lens that allows you to easily enjoy high image quality from wide-angle to ultra-telephoto and paves the way for eciting new photographic experiences.

  • Absolutely Fantastic All-in-One Lens!
I am absolutely thrilled with the Tamron 18-300mm F/3.5-6.3 Di III-A VC VXD! Paired with my Sony a6500, this lens has proven to be an outstanding upgrade to the kit lens (Sony 18-135 zoom). The build of the Tamron is to me a perfect balance, being not too heavy (surprisingly since it has a lot of elements) yet giving an impressive zoom range. Tamron’s Vibration Compensation is outstanding. It delivers sharp images even in challenging conditions. The autofocus is near-silent and highly responsive, making it ideally suited for capturing dynamic subjects such as birds in flight or turbulent ocean waves. Yet it's just as impressive when I use it for taking pictures of my dogs and cats or in the village for street photography. While a handful of critiques seem to come from very seasoned professionals, the overwhelming consensus I have found are very positive. The lens delivers exceptional performance and versatility. I’m firmly in the camp that considers this lens fantastic—and I highly recommend it to anyone seeking an all-in-one solution without compromising quality. ... show more

  • Amazing All-Around Lens Amazing All-Around Lens
I paired this lens with my Sony A7C. This lens is extremely versatile and takes crisp quality photos. The zoom is amazing and it's perfect for outside nature shots. I added 2 photos, 1 at 18mm and 1 at 300mm.

  • Very good field of tame and picture quality. Very good field of tame and picture quality.
Itsa really good lens. Paired work my Sony ZV E 10 II. I got it right before a big pow wow me and my family went to. And as far as we where sitting. It closed the distance very well. And all my pictures came out very good. As well as other pictures I've taken after the event. Even though zoom in isn't very smooth at least for video. It feels like most of the stiffness is with in the middle range of the zoom. ... show more

  • Good general purpose lens
If I could have only one lens for the rest of my life, it’s this one. Things I don’t like: It’s large, so it doesn’t fit in my smallest camera bag. Things I do like: It produces amazing photos. WIthout that, the rest is meaningless. This lens delivers. I never feel like I could have gotten a better photo with a better lens. It has a decent aperture range for a zoom lens. I’m not married to the idea you can only get a good bokeh background with a super tiny F-Stop. Even as a beginner, this lens has enough of a range, I have enough tricks we can pull it off together. It has an amazing range. I can photograph birds in the tree across the street, a joust at a Renaissance Festival, and a friend sitting across a very narrow living room all with one lens. I don’t care for swapping in the middle of things, and being able to get good shots near and far is a top priority for me. It’s not that heavy. I can shoot handheld no problem. It’s easy to manual focus. Yes it has auto focus. No, there are no problems with that. But sometimes the camera wants to focus on one thing and I want to focus on another. This lens is easy to get the things I want in focus to be in focus. It’s a perfect lens for the Sony A6000. ... show more

  • The Ultimate "One-Lens" Solution for Sony APS-C The Ultimate "One-Lens" Solution for Sony APS-C
I bought this to pair with my Sony A6700, and after putting it through its paces, I am genuinely impressed. If you are looking for a single lens that can handle everything from wide landscapes to distant wildlife or aircraft, this is it. The Reach (450mm Equivalent) While the lens is physically 18–300mm, the APS-C crop factor on the A6700 gives you an effective reach of 27–450mm. I found the image quality to be surprisingly consistent. It takes quality, sharp photos from 18mm all the way through 300mm. Having that 450mm reach in such a relatively compact package is a massive advantage for plane spotting or nature photography. Build and Weight It is a little bit heavy (around 620g), so you will definitely feel the weight after a long day of shooting. However, it feels solid and well-balanced on the A6700 body. Gimbal Use (DJI RS3 Mini) If you are a hybrid shooter using a gimbal, keep in mind that this is an external zoom lens. The barrel extends significantly as you zoom in. Because of this, you can really only use it on a gimbal at the 18mm setting unless you want to stop and rebalance every time you change focal lengths. That said, at the 18mm setting, it balances just fine on my RS3 Mini without any issues. Pros: Incredible versatility with a 16.6x zoom range. Fast and quiet VXD linear motor autofocus. Vibration Compensation (VC) helps significantly at the 300mm end. Weather-sealed construction. Cons: Noticeable weight for an APS-C lens. External zoom makes it tricky for gimbal use at longer focal lengths. Final Verdict: Overall, this is a fantastic lens that I would highly recommend to anyone who wants to avoid constant lens swaps. It is a reliable, high-quality workhorse for the Sony E-mount system. ... show more

  • Great step up from a standard kit lens. *Includes US Warranty* Great step up from a standard kit lens. *Includes US Warranty*
I bought this to extend the reach of my already excellent Sony 18-135. Based on first impressions I'm quite pleased with the results. The extended 18-300 range is quite useful and will make for a great walk around lens for travel. Image quality looks great. One interesting feature of this lens is the minimum focusing distance at the wide-end. You can get within an inch or two of an object and still get focus, making it useful as a semi-macro lens. My only two quibbles are unavoidable for a lens of this type. First, focusing is a touch slow but that's due to the lens itself - a zoom of this range requires a large number of lens elements and moving them to focus is sometimes slow. Second, the lens is just plain big and heavy. Not nearly as big as a full frame lens but it's easily one of the bigger lenses for Sony's APS-C ecosystem. A previous reviewer stated they believed the lens was gray market, however the one I received (ships and sold from Amazon) is not. A holographic sticker was included on the box verifying it was an authorized sale under US warranty. GOOD: - Useful zoom range - Incredibly close focusing distance opens up possibilities - Good image quality and color rendition - Solid build BAD: - Autofocus is a tad slow compared to smaller range lenses - It's big and heavy! If you're looking for a great all-purpose walk around lens for a Sony A6xxx series this is a great choice! ... show more

  • A new Tamron 18-300mm lens married to the Sony A6700 camera
The Tamron 18-300mm far exceeds my expectations. Eight years ago, I purchased the Tamron 18-200mm for my Sony A6300. It was an outstanding combination. Then two years ago I upgraded the A6300 to an A6700. It became apparent that the older Tamron lens was constraining the new camera. With the new 18-300mm lens, there is no lens constraint. The newer camera and new lens are a perfect combination. Highly recommend. Exceed expectations at all lengths. Well worth the investment. ... show more
