“V-Line’s” NEW in-wall Tactical Closet Vault is finished in a rugged Flat Black powder coating and is outfitted with an all steel Molle Board on the door. The Tactical Closet Vault has been specifically designed to conveniently store and organize tactical gear. The three point locking system with the Simplex quick access push button lock provides superior security on the corners of the door. The lock does not require batteries and will always be at the ready. The Tactical Closet Vault in-the-wall safe fits between the wall studs (16” on center 2×4). The Tactical Closet Vault provides a unique and space conscious way to secure firearms and your tactical gear such as magazine clips, ammo pouches, flash lights and optional mounts for your home defense weapons and other items with the convenience of quick access. The door and frame protrude less than 2 inches from the wall, allowing it to be concealed behind a door or in a closet. The Tactical Closet Vault comes standard with the door side Molle Board and an adjustable black foam barrel guard. Features: I did a lot of research on cases/cabinets and safes before buying this V-line security case/cabinet. The features most important in my research were the very simple mechanical lock and slim profile. Most other safes seemed to have an electronic/biometric access with key backup. On the other hand, the V-line mechanical number pad is quick, non-complex, and secure. In my own opinion it also reduces the possible points of failure due to it's simplicity - although I suppose even a mechanical lock is subject to breaking/jamming. I also wanted a safe/security cabinet that takes up minimal space for simply storing a couple of firearms and some important documents. I wasn't in the market for a case to store several rifles and significant ammo stock or anything like that. This case was perfect in that regard because it only sticks out a couple of inches from the wall and gives me ample space for a couple of firearms and documents. Many other safes I researched were quite bulky, weighing in at 200+pounds. With that added weight they may be harder to penetrate with a grinder or other means but this was a lower priority on my list. The V-line door, case and locking rods all seem quality made and sturdy and I would imagine they would hold up to a variety of attacks for some time. Install: The installation is quite easy, assuming you can find a wall that will work for the installation. I ran into some difficulty here. Most of the walls I was considering for the install were "shear walls" with 14 inches "center to center" studs, while this cabinet needs 16 inches "center to center" (this is the same as 14.5 inches between studs). Secondly it's important to think about what is inside your wall. Make sure you also think about what's on the other side of the wall. If you have a shower on the other side there could be water lines or you could have a power outlet on the other side that could impact your install. In my case I had an electrical wire conduit that ran horizontally through the two studs that I needed to move out of the way - moved the conduit to below the cabinet insert hole. This added hours to the install. With a handheld $10 drywall saw and a drill this install probably would have taken 1-2 hours if you take your time like I do. But because I needed to make additional access holes around my studs in order to re-route the conduit wire (luckily there was enough slack in the conduit to re-route without needing to add a junction box), and I needed to patch the holes and texture the wall it added 4+ more hours to the install. I have some but very limited DYI experience so it took me longer than someone with more experience. I would suggest taking your time to check which wall is best suited for install based on the stud spacing and possible wiring/plumbing that might add to your install time. Bottom line: This security cabinet is quite expensive compared to other safe options. But it is very much worth the price point for the features that are important to me. Even with the possibility of a difficult installation I would highly recommend this security cabinet - we were able to turn it into a fun DYI project over the weekend. Also, knowing that my purchase supports a USA company was an added side benefit and made me more willing to accept a higher price. ... show more

The vault is fantastic and easily fits two rifles and multiple handguns plus ammo and accessories. The only issue is the rack on the door is missing all it's screws and is loose on the door. Factory must have forgot to finish assembly.

The dimensions are just right for standard wall construction. Shallow electrical boxes may be needed for existing wiring that is on the other side of the wall but as long as there is no plumbing between the studs, this safe will fit just fine.

I can appreciate this ships with a solid 2" of foam around the entire product, impossible to damage in shipping. Installation is easy, your most difficult step is choosing the location wisely and cutting the drywall. Be sure to use a decent stud finder and avoid plumbing and electrical. They sell shelves to fit this, but save yourself the money and buy some pilaster shelving clips. You can cut your own shelves for this, the interior yields about 4.75" x 13.625" for each shelf. Note the height of the box covering the locking mechanism, if putting 2 shelves into this, you either need to be above that box or cut a notch into your custom shelf. I love the simplex lock, 5 buttons is plenty of combinations, including options for 2-button simultaneous or even finish on a half-press. Programming is easy enough, check youtube for details on it and see for yourself. Few other reasons I like the simplex lock - no batteries, can be done in the dark by feel, and there's no keyway to be picked! Beware any safes/vaults/lockers with a tubular lock backup option. There's a $15 tool to pick tubular locks, so easy your toddler could use it. Keep in mind the best security is that nobody ever finds this in your house, next you should put it into a tight area it's tough to pry at, lastly acknowledge you've only bought some time with this. It's a heavy duty locker, not a safe and not a bank vault. For me it's enough to keep the kids out and hidden well enough where it could be overlooked by burglars. But should anybody find it and be determined to get in... it'd only be a matter of time and tools. Note V-line also makes a white version of this with a metal pegboard in the door instead of this molex, model 51653-S PLUS but I don't see it on amazon right now. ... show more
