  • Stable, perfect for people with bad balance. Powerful and long range.
I'm a big man, 6' 5" and 380 lbs. Basically a walking refrigerator. I had a mini stroke last year, and my ebike was in the garage unused for the last 14 months or so. I sold it because I just don't have good enough balance to ride it anymore. If I close my eyes and turn my head, I'll fall over. I looked for etrikes. I found this one, rated for riders up to 6' 5" so perfect. The timing was great, the ebike sold the same day as the trike was delivered. It came about an hour after the ebike left with its new owner. The FedEx guy took the 108 lb. box right into the garage. Assembly isn't too hard IF you're familiar with bicycle systems. You will have to assemble quite a bit, connect brake and shift cables, install the chain to the derailleur, and adjust everything. The instructions are pretty good, the manual is detailed and printed on glossy card stock. You seldom see manuals for things anymore, so kudos to CroSight here. The manual even gets into how to program the controller. The derailleur isn't too hard as you can eyeball the alignment of the sprockets and set the limit screws. I was very close when testing, a half turn or so on the high gear to make it fully engage. (The derailleur comes not set at all) You have to cut the cables after assembly, but everything is supplied even the cable crimp ends. When threading the chain thru the derailleur, bear in mind springs holds tension to the gear set. It's not obvious in the manual and photos, but if you have another bike, observe how the tension sprockets are set and how they pull the chain tension. The sprocket set needs to be pulled back as you put on the chain. As you can see by the photos, I used a portable workbench to set things on during assembly. You may need help from a friend good with bikes to make things easier. My size became an issue as the seat post has to be run up quite a ways out so my legs aren't bent double. Your legs should be mostly straight for proper riding and making pedal power. The post collapsed as you can see. I went the extreme option of going to a steel supplier and getting 7/8" cold rolled solid rod. It's done bending now! I used the rod as a core. CroSight is sending me a new post, and I have a tracking number already. The new post will become a solid core piece as well, as now it's a temporary splice job. If you are a normal sized human, you should have none of these problems. CroSight has been great to work with. I originally ordered the Pro with rear drive and differential, but they found their stock ran out. I didn't want to wait a month for those to come in, so I had them send this one. It's the same trike except this one is a front hub drive. They refunded the price difference as well as the cost of the 7/8" rod as I had to buy an 8 foot piece to get what I needed to repair the seat post. They're also sending me a set of mirrors to fit the threaded holes on the brake handles. I really like the orange color. The white frame and black fender one kind of looks like a meter maid's bike, but that's just my opinion. Every time I ride, I get thumbs up and comments on it. It has plenty of power even with my mass on it. I went right up a 10% slope without even pedaling. That was on PAS 2. There's PAS 1 thru 5. (Pedal Assist System) Top speed is 19.5 MPH. The control's speedometer is dead on, I have a Garmin InReach GPS mounted to the handlebars. I've found that PAS 1 is about 6 MPH. PAS 2 is 9 MPH. PAS 3 is what I use most, and is about 12.5 MPH. PAS 4 is 16 MPH, and PAS 5 is just under 19.5 MPH. The throttle is variable, so doesn't have to max out on every setting. Also, pedal assist varies and follows what you do. 7th gear maxes out at around 12 or so, meaning if you're PAS 4 and up, you're going faster than you have pedal gearing. By the way, despite its size and weight, it's not hard to pedal-only this trike. When first powered up, it's PAS 0 meaning no assist or throttle. Riding a three wheeler for the first time takes getting used to. It's stable, but until you get used to it, you feel like you're going to tip. I used to a ride a Honda 3 wheel ATV, (in my teens) and my first time on it I instinctively put a foot down and ran over myself. Ride slow and straight, and turn back and forth until you get used to the feel. Resist the urge to put a foot down. Take turns slow. You will find that it does lean over somewhat, but only to a point and no more. Like me, you'll find that it will not dump you off, and confidence builds with each ride. I'm now at around 28 miles total. I bought a gallon of Green Slime from Harbor Freight Tools. There's a half gallon between the 3 tires. We have a bad tack-weed (or goat-head) problem in this area. You hit a patch, and you end up with 40 ~ 50 little spikes poking holes. The tires on this trike are better and thicker than the ones on my ebike, but I'm taking no chances. I run 18 PSI in all three tires, and that's stable enough without making for a hard ride. The front has a suspension, but the rear does not. The rear drive on this trike is pedal only as it's a front hub electric drive. The right wheel only gets braking and pedal drive. The left rear tire freewheels. Put the system on PAS 5 and get on it, and the front tire will spit gravel or dirt. It has power. The trip meter is accessed by short presses of the middle power button. A long hold turns on the system as long as the battery's key switch is on. An annoyance is if you stop for more than 10 minutes, it powers down, and your trip mileage goes with it. I changed the "dormancy" time to 45 minutes, so now I can take a break without it powering off. Easy fix. So far, I've ridden 8 miles at a time, and the battery was still full bars. I'll take a long ride when I get time to see what the range is, but it's going to be quite a bit I think. It's a BIG battery. Nice things about a trike over a bike: You can stop and just sit there. The baskets are large, especially the back one. You can literally pack a picnic basket in it for a day ride. Or, tools, tire repair items, jacket, and etc. The lighting is good. You won't overdrive the headlight at 15 MPH or so. rear is bright, and has brake lights like a motorcycle. It comes with goodies. A cover that's as nice as any motorcycle cover to keep dust off when it's stored. A battery powered tire pump. A zipper bag that perfectly fits the rear basket. I really like that. A tool kit with everything you need to fix something on the trail. One thing about the tire pump. It's good for more than just the trike. There are presets for various pressures. The only thing is there are none are within the range you need for 20 PSI max for auto shutoff. It's not a problem though. You attach the hose to the valve stem, and it reads the pressure. You push the power button and it starts filling the tire. Push the button when the count gets up to where you want, in my case 18 PSI per tire. A check with a tire gauge shows the same 18 PSI, so the pump is right on. All in all, a good purchase for me, and I'm back on the bike trails again! Thank you, CroSight. ... show more

  • Amazing
High quality product that was easy to assemble using the provided instructions.

  • Just okay
It works fine. Personally, though, the shape of the rubber (well, plastic) grip feels a little "off". It is just a personal liking and I prefer a different brand with a stronger grip.
