I purchased this small size quick connect kit to work on my Sony RX100 digital still camera and my FeiyuTech video camera. I liked the small size of the quick connect and the all-aluminum construction. Straight out of the box, the fixed base fits right onto the tabletop tripod I use. The fit is tight, and the base plate looks good. The button release without the camera release plate has a smooth action. Testing with just the release plate, the fit is a little stiff and you can easily twist the plate side to side which causes the plate to get stuck. It's not an easy, smooth, sliding fit and takes some force. When you do keep it straight, it slides in and clicks securely into place. To release, you have to push the red button slightly backwards towards the Unlock Icon while pushing it in. The button is hard to push when the release plate is used. When I tried to install the release plate on the Sony RX100 the vertical tab on the front of the plate interferes with the lens and cannot be installed. Flipping the release plate around, the same tab now interferes with the moving LCD display on the back of the Sony. So, this plate won't work. For The FeiyuTech Video camera, when I tried to attach the release plate to this device, the release plate screw bottoms out in the socket of the video camera, so I can't make it tight. So, this quick release also will not work with my video camera The Quick release looks nice and is made from well finished aluminum. But the release plate does not mate smoothly with the base plate. It can bind up and jam easily and when it works takes considerable push to make it click into place. The release button does seem to work for locking and unlocking although the spring is strong. Additionally, the quick release would not work with my two cameras. I would not recommend this accessory.

It takes a few attempts to work smoothly but I am satisfied with the effect and value of this product. I highly recommend it if you want to save the cost and time for a useful quick release kit.

Push the switch forward while pressing the button and the release plate slides off smoothly. Really nice. I have arthritis in my hands, so it’s somewhat clumsy for me, but doable. It’s a small unit, about 1.5 x 2 inches, so it fits well with small tripods which are what I use these days. Very well-machined metal and while light, looks and feels very sturdy. An Allen wrench and screwdriver are provided for adjusting the release mechanism. Definitely a keeper and I guess I’ll need to order a couple of more plates to use with other cameras. Jerry

The media could not be loaded. The YYSVYIA SY38 Camera Auto Lock Quick Release Kit is a high-quality all-aluminum mount that is a perfect addition to your camera and tripod setup. The boot that mounts to the camera features a rubber separator so that your camera will not be damaged by attachment. Also, it offers a lip help position the boot on the camera. This lip did interfere with the flip up screen on my Canon M200, and may affect other cameras as well, so please keep that in mind. The two pieces can be unlocked by pressing the red button on the bottom half. The mount is very secure and stable, I have no worries that my camera will fall or be damaged by this mount. The button to actuate the release has two stages, so it's not easily activated by accident. PROS Excellent build quality - Aluminum Great tolerances on machining - very stable Rubber foot on camera boot protects attachment CONS Guide lip on camera boot might interfere with flip up display on some cameras
