We have had our 8000 gallon pool for about 4 years now. We live in central Alabama where spring and fall are mild and summers are brutal (heat and humidity). We were wavering between gas and electric. We knew we didn't need anything super powerful as we really only wanted to extend our swim season from April through September. So heating from April-May and September, but we also wanted cooling for July-August where our pool temps exceed 90 degrees regularly. So this heat pump ended up being exactly what we needed. Efficient heating and cooling, app controlled, varying sizes available, easy installation, and cost efficient. I'll just list out a bullet list of pros. 1. Easy installation - I had a friend who is an HVAC tech come and install. Took him around 4 hours total running the plumbing and installing the 240 breaker and hard wiring. Once installed, it's easy to operate, I've only ever used the app to control heating and cooling, but there is an LED interface on the actual heat pump. 2. Quite operation - You can't hear it at all, the only way I know it's running is if the plants leaves are blowing which sits next to the air vent. 3. Extremely affordable - Compared to a few gas heaters I was looking at, this came in much less expensive with more features. 4. Very efficient heating and cooling - This warmed my pool up in around 7-8 hours from a brisk 74 to 90. About 2-3 degrees per hour which I think is perfectly fine for us. 5. Ability to schedule - Once I got used to just using the heating/cooling, I realized how valuable the scheduling function is. For summer cooling, we scheduled it to run Fri and Sat 9:00 PM to 5:00 AM (during evening hours where cooling was more efficient). We will setup a similar schedule for heating this fall where we gain the most efficiency. Overall, we are extremely happy with our pool heat pump. Highly recommended!

Very nice heater. Keeps my 5000 gallon pool at what ever temp I want. Quiet operation and easy installation. I would recommend having a dedicated 20amp circuit. I run this and my filter off of one and don't have any issues. If you're looking for a good pool heater/cooler at a reasonable price, this is the one.

I installed my HEX075 heat pump in July of 2025. Over the two days prior to installation, for about an hour each day, my 14-year-old son and I reviewed the instructions that came with the heat pump. The instructions were clear and concise, and easy to follow. I am using this heat pump unit in tandem with an 18"/1.5 HP Aquastrong Sand Filter. This sand filter/pump paired perfectly with the HEX075 heat pump, maximizing heat flow by way of a near perfectly matched flow rate. The family is still telling everyone that will listen about how great it is to not have to wait for a string of hot days in Western PA to go swimming; just leave the heat pump fired up and enjoy 88 degree F water all summer long - morning, noon, and night. And as if that wasn't good enough, the filter/pump and heat pump both have internal timers, such that this setup becomes 'set and forget' to a very large degree, aside from the occasional backwashing and rinsing of the filter media. Beautiful! Additionally, and probably most importantly, the ease with which I was able to get any questions answered by way of a few emails to Aquastrong (which were ALWAYS promptly and concisely answered) was second to none. Full stop. For example, I was made aware of a design shortcoming with this heat pump that could possibly result in moisture ingress to the touch screen; I was told that an updated touch screen was being finalized, and upon completion, the updated touch screen would be sent to me. Sure enough, after a fair amount of overnight rainfall, I was seeing that the ingress of moisture was affecting the touch screen performance. I sent an email to Aquastrong, noting this fact, along with our prior correspondence regarding the updated component. When I got home from work a few days later, this updated touch screen was waiting for me on my doorstep. After a quick 10 minute fix to remove the old touch screen and replace it with the redesigned one, I was up and running again. Kudos to Aquastrong for hitting that sweet spot in relation to quality of product, coupled with fantastic technical customer service. We ran this unit for about 4 months, before winterizing it for the season , and it performed flawlessly throughout. It's a breath of fresh air to make a fairly substantial purchase like this, and have NO COMPLAINTS. Great work!

LOVE THIS HEATER!!! Wish I got it sooner. Its a great deal! I purchased the one recommend for my pool size. After one day it was warm enough to swim!! Ive been searching for many years and this heater truly works!!! Its so easy to set up! We did end up needing an extra hose. Thats for my particular pool. Its unsure if you will need to. Walmart has pool filter hoses if you do. Water temp starting was 78 degrees fahrenheit and after one day its 82 degrees Fahrenheit!!! Its the perfect size and fit for around your pool. Its 70lbs and very durable and sturdy. This is the best heater for your pool and budget! My video wouldn't load.

This heater is an outstanding piece of equipment. Granted it’s pricey so watch for price fluctuations as we did. It is quiet and efficient and warms the pool water quickly. We have a 27ft round, 17,000 gallons of water. Haven’t used the cooling feature yet since we just started using it and it hasn’t been super hot out. So happy we made this investment. We can keep the pool open until at least October here on the east coast. Glad we took the “plunge “ !

I purchased the HEX100 AquaStrong heat pump for my 16’ x 32’ inground pool. I live in Middle Tennessee and plan to open the pool a couple months earlier (Mid April to mid-May) and keep it open until the end of October (before leaves begin to fall). My pool is about 20,000 gallons. The HEX100 unit is rated for up to 26,000 gallons. I received the unit a few days after ordering. The install was fairly straight forward. I installed a 40 AMP breaker at my main panel and a 50 AMP GFCI between the unit and the main panel. All wiring is 8-gauge copper. I placed the unit on 4 – 4” blocks that sit on a concrete pad so the unit is 4” above the ground level which allows for good drainage. The rear of the unit is only 16” from a wood picket fence. I believe there was adequate ventilation but I installed two grills on the fence to make sure there was good ventilation. I used Schedule 40 PVC pipe to connect to the pool filter outlet pipe utilizing the PVC fittings provided with the unit and created a bypass if I need to bypass the heat pump. The unit started up with no issues. The pool temperature was 66 degrees F when I started the unit the evening of April 20. The outside temperature was 60 degrees and the low temperature got down to 46 degrees that night. At startup the inlet temp was 66 degrees and the outlet temp was 68 degrees at the standard mode setting. Tuesday evening April 21 the outside temperature was 77 degrees, inlet temp was 75 degrees and the outlet temp was 80 degrees. Wednesday evening the outside temp was 78 degrees, inlet temp was 82 degrees and outlet temp was 86 degrees. Thursday April 23, I was expecting my grandkids to come swim so I changed the Mode setting to boost mode around noon. The outside temp was 78 degrees, the inlet temp was 85 degrees and the outlet temp was 91 degrees. I had a target temp for the pool set at 90 degrees. By Thursday afternoon it had reached the 90-degree target temp. So overall it took from Monday evening to Thursday afternoon to increase the pool temp 34 degrees (66 to 90) which is not bad. It probably would have been faster if I had started in boost mode. My electric utility company provides me with usage info so I calculated the initial cost to bring the pool temp up 34 degrees within 3 days and it was approximately $70. Going forward the cost to keep it at this temp should not be as much. I am able to control the unit from my iPhone with the app provided. It is very easy to setup and navigate, allows for schedules to control the unit if you want. I am very satisfied with this unit. I know it will accomplish my goal to bring the initial temp to 90 degrees at the beginning of the season (3rd week in April) and keep it there. For middle Tennessee, once the summer months are here (June – August) I don’t expect the unit to run very much as the outside temp along with the full sun will keep the water temp at 90 degrees. The AquaStrong customer service response has been excellent via email. They get back to me within 24 hours with any questions I have. I would buy this unit again and can recommend it to potential customers looking for a way to heat their pool.

This heat pump is amazing if you have the knowledge to self install. First, the biggest thing. The manual says to use 12AWG wire for the 100k. The query parameters on the device screen show that on standard it pulls 23amps and even boost mode can get near 27-30. I had a feeling this was possible and got 10AWG wire. The sticker on the unit even says max breaker 40amp. I went with a 30amp and dont plan to ever use boost mode. In 65-70 degree florida, standard seems to raise 14-18 degrees in 1 hour with eco a little more than half that. I did that test without a spa cover which I have coming soon, so both may be even better. I am sure you could get to 20 degrees in 1 hour on boost for a 600ish gallon spa here. Next the waterproofing is not good near the display as others mentioned. also the electrical cover area isnt good water proofing either. So we put a tarp over the side to make sure no water goes there. Not ideal. The unit has a power statistics button that doesnt work, i must be missing that module. But the parameters page shows me amps and a few other details thankfully. Everything else is great and I hope it lasts long. Seems to pull around 3.5-4.5kw on eco mode and 5.5 on standard. I have to run my pump a lot higher on standard and boost so I am trying to figure out which mode is best to use for cost savings. Get a pool and spa cover to help save a lot of money too!! You cannot beat this price at all, time of purchase I got for $2400 after prime rebate on the 100k. I almost have to give 5 stars but didn't due to the wire guage being a big mistake.
