  • exceeded expectations
I anguished over the cost for a week before I purchased. The adjust-ability sounded good but I wasn't sure how to adjust the ride on my particular application (stock '96 F250 crew cab with a very uncomfortable ride). All I can say is Wow! I'm still amazed at the difference. Never knew a stiff, jolting old truck could ride almost like a car. And so far I've only used the lowest setting. I thought I might have to stiffen the ride a little when pulling our travel trailer but made a short trip with no ill effects. Well worth the price and I would recommend these to anyone with an old truck wanting a more comfortable ride, especially if it's in real good shape. I would not have been dissatisfied paying the auto parts stores price considering the effectiveness of the product. The Amazon price really helped me make the decision to purchase. The rear shocks are easy to install. The fronts are a little harder especially if the wheel is left on. I left mine on because eight lugs and heavy. Anyone with a little mechanical ability should have no trouble. This is not my first experience with Rancho shocks. Our Jeep's had RS5000s for 3 years and we love them. ... show more

  • Very good shocks!
Fits perfectly in my Mitsubishi Sportero L200. The option to have multiple settings is very versatile for many roads. i keep mine in 5 and it is a very neutral ride! installation is very easy as well!

  • Good shocks, have improved
As always a good product. Have improved where mine broke at the connection. They are now stronger at that point. Quick delivery.

  • 99.89 for crap
So not worth the price... no instructions and shocks themselves are shot. I gave the one star because it was easy to return

  • Potentially Fine Suspension
My praise of these shocks was earned, but granted somewhat cautiously. They are premium shocks - purchased at a premium price. But the path I traveled from research to test drive had a few pot holes in it. (For the short answer, skip down to "But my current assessment...") Admittedly, my interest was first inspired by Rancho's enchanting advertising claims. These shocks are of a larger diameter, contain tunable orifice cylinders for "live ride adjustment", and have the pretty silver paint & red boots....what's not to like? Well even considering the stiff price - I went for them on all four corners. When I got them and unboxed one front/one rear to look at, they looked nice. But then things got a little fuzzy. There wasn't a scrap of instructions showing ANYTHING. Nothing for assembly, nothing for tuning. I went to their website, which had a page for downloading such. It requires the model/part# and then it is supposed to give you instructions. But when I typed these in, it said "not available or incorrect number". So I was a bit disappointed to say the least, considering the billboard ads raving of their popularity. For the rear shocks, installation is a no-brainer, since both ends are the "eyelet-type" mount. You can't go wrong. On the front, things are a little more tricky, but not rocketry. Nevertheless, SOMETHING should be included. You do have a "hardware stack" (washer/bushing/washer/nut, etc.) that needs defining (for the order of which they get placed on the rod during installation - if nothing else). The method required of "turning the rod to the magic spot" - where it expands to length DOES appear as a figure on a small orange card with an arrow symbol on it. With minor imagination, you CAN figure out its meaning and proceed. Of course previous experience is a help for anyone, but a simple set of instructions seems like it should be included without question - especially when you pay top dollar for what is advertised to be a high quality part. Obviously, I completed the installation of all 4. But then it was on to the tuning. The small red knob that you turn, (to adjust the stiffness of the "shock compression attribute") is easily identified. But there is no starting "line" or stationary mark fixed on the shock body to line up to the knob pointer. So you must "assume" fully counterclockwise (or left) is setting #1 - and you turn right carefully to count "detent bumps" from there. Then stop at the setting you prefer. After doing so, I was able to set up my truck to handle very well and to suit my "spirited" preference in driving. I wrote a very long email (like this review) to Rancho tech support - and after 3 or 4 days, I received a post-card reply. I never did get instructions, so I am hoping my front shocks are assembled correctly. But my current assessment of the product is as follows: The shocks allow a very full range of adjustment. The compromise in suspension performance, between absorbing pot-hole sized impacts and the elimination of body roll during cornering can be readily achieved. Since my tuning required only settings of 3-5 out of 9 possible - There is considerable additional stiffness available, if so-desired for those requiring large tongue-weight, or vehicles performing heavier towing applications. I was primarily interested in exceeding the OEM performance during higher speed handling, with a rare off-road 4x4 drive thrown in for fun. This was achieved and with surprisingly better success than former aftermarket purchases for this same vehicle. So other than the lack of documentation/support, the shocks seem to have been a good quality part to buy - at this point - SO FAR. ... show more

  • Attention MOPAR lovers.
Used these shocks on the back of my Road Runner. These are the shocks recommended by Calvert Racing for their racing suspension on MOPAR B-bodies. I bought them here on amazon because of the lower price. I also like the adjustability of them so I can fine tune the way my car rides.

  • and have been very satisfied. The shocks were no more difficult to install ...
I replaced all of the shocks (which were Rancho RS5000's) on my 1994 Ford F150 with Rancho RS9000 series shocks, and have been very satisfied. The shocks were no more difficult to install than any other shocks, and I had no fitment issues. The shocks are easy to adjust to your preference. I am very pleased with the ride quality I was able to achieve with these shocks, and I like knowing that I will be able to adjust for more or less firmness when I need it. ... show more
