Description

One Subwoofer to Rule Them All An unrelenting passion for awesome bass performance and engineering perfection guided every aspect of the SB16-Ultra subwoofers design. Groundbreaking technology rigorous design and extreme testing in real world and laboratory environments allowed SVS to achieve massive output levels extreme low frequency extension near-perfect frequency response accuracy and pinpoint transient response. The culmination of all SVS design advancements SB16-Ultra represents the greatest leap forward in performance and innovation since the inception of subwoofers. Massive New 16" SVS Ultra Driver with Unprecedented 8" Edge Wound Voice Coil When designing the biggest and most formidable driver ever used in an SVS subwoofer it was of utmost importance to meet or exceed the same supreme standards of control and accuracy as every other subwoofer SVS manufactures. One huge advancement that allows the SB16-Ultra to handle the crushing force of a 16 driver is the 8 edge wound voice coil the largest ever deployed in a consumer subwoofer. This innovation ensures ultra-low distortion and pinpoint control at the highest drive levels resulting in incredible output and low frequency extension. By nature larger drivers are more difficult to control but the unprecedented voice coil design ensures accuracy in frequency response and speed in transients without ever sounding boomy. Pushing the driver are four massive dedicated toroidal ferrite magnets that unleash a staggering 78mm peak to peak Xmech excursion (65mm Xmax) and the highest levels of motor force and palpable SPLs. The light and rigid 16 Ultra driver cone consists of a premium fiberglass resin composite with optimal stiffness to mass ratio to maximize movement of air and sonic energy without ever distorting or losing control. Stunningly Powerful New Sledge Amplifier with Fully Discrete MOSFET Output Conservatively rated at 1500 watts continuous 5000+ watts peak power the SB16-Ultra Sledge

  • Hear what you've been missing
I did a lot of research before buying this, and at first I did not like it. It is necessary to get the sub in phase with your speakers, which can take some time. But once you do, you will hear frequencies you never heard before - this thing goes down to 16 HZ. Only about 20 to 30 percent of recordings actually have information below about 40 HZ, but it is worth it to hear what is on the recordings that do. Some recordings I did not expect to have deep bass just shocked me. ... show more

  • SVS 17 Ultra Subwoofer
This is the crown jewel to my Theater setup. The Deep Base is heart felt and compliments my 12” Kenwood Speakers, my Bose Center Speaker, and my Bose Bookshelf Rear Speakers.

  • AN ABSOLUTE MONSTER!!
I've had a few 300w subs for my home theater and always found them a bit lacking. So I decided for a little overkill! My living room is about 15'x25' but it's open to the kitchen also. I put the speaker in the corner because this monster wouldn't fit under my huge entertainment center! Definitely love this thing. You certainly can't turn up the volume all the way for normal use! Initially I had my 300w Polk hooked up also but this was just causing standing waves and more dead spots. I put this in the back left corner of the room pointed at the front left speaker and it sounds great, plus when you walk out of the kitchen you get a good look at this attractive beast behind the couch. The accuracy seems good but to me it's hard to judge detail in bass. I wish you could adjust the dynamic range a little, sometimes the "smaller" sounds are louder than they should be. This thing easily rattles dishes and cabinets in the kitchen and I live on a concrete slab! Pros: Super loud Good detail Great smartphone app for adjustments Very nice looking Remote included Cons: Extremely heavy!! ... show more

  • Breathtakingly Tight Bass
This replaced a Klipsch SPL 150 subwoofer that died, and it is remarkably cleaner and clearer. I am very pleased with this purchase, and the bluetooth phone app makes doing the settings a breeze.

  • Best Subwoofer On Market
This is the best subwoofer I've ever heard. Highly recommended -- and the price is outstanding for what you get. You'll want two after you hear it, so save yourself some money now and buy the two pack. SVS customer service is second to none!

  • Love it!
I bought this to replace one of two SVS PC-2000's in my theater/listening room. I moved one of my two PC-2000's into another room to supplement the four 10 inch; in-ceiling speakers. The performance of the SB-16 is spectacular! Couldn't more pleased with the investment. The app is very functional and allows fine tuning of the sub at your fingertips. ... show more

  • Edit: Collecting Dust. Needs good components to reach the rave potential. Initially, Underwhelmed.
Update 4/10/2021: Collecting dust in the corner of a spare room. Fanboy drummers are gonna say what they will, but I no longer recommend these over a good set of towers if you have the room. Upgraded the Rf7II's to Moabs by Tekton Design (running dual-mono hypex nc400's and sometimes a single Aegir, prefer the Schiit Aegir now). If someone else reviews these without identifying their system, ok, good marketing but I need specifics. If you run an AVR for your home stereo, I'm sorry. I have budget-fi preamp/dac running over $2,000 and I wouldn't go below that. Do what you will, but this is after $3,000 onkyo and yamaha AVR's and it's my take on preference and components. Very cute negative reviews quoting me, I feel special. Bottom Line: I WOULD NOT BUY AGAIN (Duals or Single). I would get one of the ported versions, probably the pb1000 and be done for AVR/Home theater. 8/21/2020: You really need a good preamp/dac/xlr balanced setup to get decibles (PER CUSTOMER SERVICE AT SVS I WENT XLR FOR INCREASED DB's). I initially used the rca, then double rca, etc. Once I linked a Modius => xlr line => Freya + in tube mode => xlr lines right to right, left to left => dual sb16 ultras => xlr lines r/l to Hypex monoblocks (Now a single AEGIR for my towers now upgraded to MOABs); only then was I truly amazed/impressed/satisfied (Except I now have Moabs and these are stored/unused/redundant). Initially, I was NOT WOWED by these. Never have been. After you order these mini-washing machines, the thought of returning them is daunting. Not gonna happen. Even at this price-point, not worth shipping back/dealing with the hassle. Get some ported subs and be done with it, or upgrade to towers with 12" base cab drivers. ... show more
