Description

The G2X Tactical is a compact yet powerful polymer-body flashlight designed specifically for tactical use. Providing simplicity of operation and tremendous illuminating power in a small package, it uses a high-efficiency LED--virtually immune to failure since there's no filament to burn out or break--to generate a brilliant, penetrating, perfectly pre-focused 320-lumen beam. The G2X is activated by a tactical tailcap click switch, the same type used on many SureFire WeaponLights for years--partially press for momentary- on; press further until it clicks for constant-on activation. The tough Nitrolon polymer body is smoothly sculpted for a comfortable, secure grip and resists scratches, abrasion, and corrosion. A polycarbonate micro-textured reflector delivers a comparatively wider beam with generous peripheral light.

  • A great rifle light
I really like this flashlight so far. I mounted it on a .300BLK rifle and have fired a few hundred rounds through it with the flashlight in place, no issues from the light during firing. It feels solidly constructed and has a reasonable weight and size. There are certainly smaller and lighter lights out there, but I feel this one is a good blend of size and durability. I've ran it for about an hour total so far and no need to change the batteries yet. I mounted it on the rifle so the thumb on my support hand can easily reach the button, I've had no issues operating the light while maintaining control over the rifle. I like the press=momentary and full click= constant, it seems more in line with regular pocket flashlights and doesn't require learning new controls. Some lights out there need a users manual to operate properly. I like to test weapon lights by sitting in a dark room for a few minutes until my eyes adjust, the turn the light on a white wall. If I don't have to reflexively turn my head or close my eyes I call it good, and this light passed that test. Its bright, but not so bright you blind yourself at 3am trying to find the meth-addled ax murderer who just kicked in your front door. Overall, 5 stars for a solid, reliable product that is a good size/weight and easy to use. Also can't complain about the price, it is very reasonable in a world of $200+ flashlights. Update: I've been to the range a bunch in the last few months, I've put around 1000 rounds through my rifle and the light has held firm and works perfectly still. I tried it out at night in the woods, good field of view and brightness at range. ... show more

  • Great Old School Light
Surefire durability and performance in a polymer body for a great price. The 600 lumen throw is plenty adequate for utility use and works great as a weapon mounted light with a 1 inch mount. Has a nice GWOT aesthetic to it. Only criticism is that it does not come with a pocket clip, which seems like an oversight for a compact, pocket-sized light. ... show more

  • Amazing light
I've used mine nearly every day since I purchased it a month ago. I bought the tactical model, which is indicated by the letter "C" on the bezel. (It should be noted: Surefire offers two G2X models: the tactical, and the pro. These types of lights as a whole are considered "tactical lights" which has led to many vendors mislabeling the pro model as the tactcal version. So be cautious) The tactical model has a clicky tail cap; press for momentary, press further until it clicks for constant on. It's really durable, and deliberate in its activation; on or off. Would highly recommend to anyone looking for a great and simple light. Comes with batteries, and a Surefire sticker, which is always welcome. It's a little on the larger side for edc, but I'd rather have a light that I can get a good grip on than a tiny one that that doesn't fair well with gross motor skills. I toss it in my back pocket and forget about it until I need it. I do have to replace the batteries every couple of weeks, but I use it a lot more than I thought I would. It helped figure out what the rustling was under my house: a family of kitties. ... show more

  • Strong and bright
Only one setting. Too bright to use for anything close up, like work, etc. Should have USB or c built in. Have to buy separate charger. Bought batteries and charger extra. Didn't know it came with batteries. Now I have too many.

  • Bright, Reliable, All-Consuming Eater of Batteries
Very bright. It's an outdoors flashlight. I wouldn't recommend using this for things like plumbing, housework, etc. The center of the beam in dark areas will bleach out what you're looking at, and you'll have to use the sides of the beam for searching. If you're going to use it in a small dark space like a cupboard, or aiming it at anything closer than 4 feet to your face, expect to get flashbanged. Outdoors, hunting, and just general safety is where I would say this light excels. It has an extremely bright, far penetrating beam. Specs list the beam as shining up to 150 meters, I'm not sure if this is true or not, I haven't been using it in any open fields, but chances are this beam will light up as far if not farther than you need it to, keeping its brightness well up to 100 meters. One valid complaint people have been saying is that it gets hot quickly, and it does. But it isn't going to burn you or anything, and frankly this winter, when outside using my light to see, I've been using it as a lovely little handwarmer lol. Not really a big issue, so if you're worried about that, it doesn't get /that/ hot, and you're not going to feel it through your clothes after pocketing the light or anything. My main actual complaint with this light is the battery life. Surefire claims 1 hour and 30 minutes of runtime, on two cr123 batteries. I honestly don't think I even get that (not even with the surefire brand batteries). When using my light 4 or 5 nights a week, I change the batteries maybe once every 1-2 weeks. That's a lot of batteries, and mainly I just use the light to check signs, apartment numbers, and occasionally to light some rickety steps or something, so I primarily use it with the temp-on function. Compared to my mini-maglite (not even the same class of light, so take this comparison with a grain of salt. Also keep in mind the mini maglight probably isn't even 1/4th the brightness of this surefire light, and not to mention it's been a finnicky and flickering thing since I bought it, but this isn't a review of that light so whatever), the battery life is abysmal. I left that mini-maglight on propped up under a sink all night once, and when I went looking for it the next day to continue my work, it was still on, just as bright. The maglite will also generally keep its full brightness until the batteries die, just shutting off. I like that. With the surefire, you can literally watch the batteries die before your very eyes. It'll get dimmer, and dimmer, and for the next 2-3 uses once it starts you'll think "i swear this thing used to be way brighter" before you realize what's happening, and then over the span of barely 30 seconds you can watch the beam go from slightly less than its full brightness to almost nothing. I'd much prefer the light simply perform at its full capacity until the batteries are done, like other flashlights on the market, but that's really just a personal preference. All in all, pretty good light. If you're going to be using it a whole lot, I'd recommend one of surefires other choices, although most of them are well over the $200 dollar range. ... show more
