Easy replacement. Forgot how ice maker was supposed to work giving actual cubes. Samsung ice makers are widely regarded as poor quality with high cost for replacement parts. This was much better value, fit exactly. Looks bit different than original but don't see that as issue

The ice maker went in easily and was a good match. For the first month or so the ice was perfect. After the first month or so the ice maker started to overfill intermittently and by the second month was consistently putting out bars of ice instead of cubes. The bars require an ice pick to separate into cubes because the overfill is so thick. The blocks also will block the freezer from opening as well as slipping behind the tray onto the freezer bottom which causes the freezer to not quite seal leading to defrosting of freezer contents. But it does make ice and it is as fast as the original. Update 3/4/23 unit dead and won't produce anything. 9 month lifespan and the last 6 months it produces bars instead of cubes is a major fail. I'm so glad I was able to restore the lower ice maker on my Samsung RF323 refrigerator without breaking my vow to never again purchase any sort of product from Samsung. This part was nearly identical to what I pulled out, so maybe Samsung has been producing these parts in massive quantities and wholesaling them out to appliance repair businesses so that everyone out there can fix whatever Samsung garbage has been brought into their homes, but I fixed my ice maker for a low price from a small business on Amazon, so I feel good. My lower ice maker was going along fine for nearly a decade, and suddenly - after doing a routine clean-out and defrost on the freezer, the ice maker decided to dump a bunch of water into the bin and freeze everything solid. I did all the things - I reset the ice maker, pulled it out and defrosted and dried it off, and kept testing and resetting over several days and it would fill the tray and freeze it and just leave it there. Never dumped any more ice into the bin. If I pressed the test button, it would twist the tray and maybe dump 4 of the cubes but never all 8. There's a lot of possibilities of maybe only replacing the tray, or that little sensor, but this product costs less than bringing out a technician who can test and diagnose, so I replaced the whole thing and it works and I can keep the original around to salvage plastic parts off of if needed. If it stops working before the rest of the refrigerator reaches the end of its life when I can replace it with something other than Samsung, then hopefully this seller will help me, but my bin is slowly filling back up with ice and we're good for now. (The first and second batches of ice after replacing the part took hours, but I think this is because the freezer was wide open while I installed a part that came out of a hot amazon box, so then it has to pull all the heat out of the plastics and out of all the food that was sitting out before the water will start freezing faster) ... show more
