As a sourdough novice, I had none of the “tools”. I have serviceable alternatives in my kitchen, but the bowls I used for proofing didn’t seem to work very well - though that could be my lack of experience. I ordered this kit as an investment toward my success. I was worried about how light the bowl seemed, but it was strong enough to hold the dough without breaking. The removable liner comes on and off easily but stays put when holding the dough. It washes easily - I hung it up to dry. It doesn’t keep the flour completely from falling through to the bowl, so I did need to gently brush the bowl a little, rinsed it, and air dries it thoroughly. The mixer has a comfortable weight to it, as well as the dough cutter. Both seem pretty well made. The lame needs to have the blade put on it, and though it’s sharp, it took more effort than I expected to score the dough. In all, I’m happy with my purchase. It’s good for a starter set.

The linen liner fits tightly and prevents sticking, especially useful for beginners. • Natural look and feel: The handcrafted rattan gives a nice artisanal touch—light, breathable, and much better than cotton-rope alternatives I’ve tried. • Useful starter tools: The whisk mixes dough easily, and the stainless-steel scraper feels sturdy and sharp enough for dividing and handling dough. • Complete kit: Includes basket, liner, whisk, scraper, lame, brush, and guide—good value for someone new to sourdough baking. Cons • Splinters: Some small splinters on the basket edge, though they didn’t affect my bread because I use the liner. • Staining handle: The wooden handle of the dough scraper bled color onto the liner, leaving a reddish mark that didn’t wash out easily. • Lame not very sharp: The scoring blade struggled to make clean cuts. • Soft brush unclear in purpose: The included brush was too soft to clean the basket effectively, especially when dough stuck to it. • Cleaning challenge: Because you shouldn’t wash rattan, removing stuck dough is tricky—the brush didn’t help much.
