  • ASUS RT-BE92U Great Router at a very Generous Price...Buy it and Do Not Believe the Bad Reviews
Style: WiFi 7 | BE9700
Was skeptical about purchasing this router... Setup was easy as the Asus app is very easy to use. On the routers initial firmware from the box...it is reluctant to disconnect you from the internet but, with latest firmware update...the router is steady and can easily handle multiple wired and wireless connections. I do have several streaming devices (10) including gaming and especially I am able to work from home without any disconnection issues from a server. Asus MLO feature was the initial culprit issue... it was included on the bandwidth and many of the devices just aren't ready for 6g or wifi7. If you are on the fence about this router...don't be. It is awesome and very customizable. You can disable MLO or disable wifi7 or disable 6g... and then use it when you want or when devices catch up to wifi7 or 6g. The latest firmware update included a check box to MLO under the Professional tab to allow the user to uncheck the option to include or dis-include the 6g band...user also has the option to separate the bands (smart connect). I hope that this review helps those wondering about this issue. It is the users fault as to why this router has bad reviews...the router is powerful and is awesome and is fully customizable as is all of ASUS products...not limited or generic. User has the choice as to what the routers capabilities are and what the router is being used for...goal of the user. ... show more

  • 5-star to 1-star review in a few months
Style: WiFi 6 | AX6100
I've lowered my review from 5-star to 1. I bought a second one of these routers and ran them in a mesh configuration. Once in a while a handful of my devices would retain wifi connection but could not be assigned an IP address so they wouldn't have internet access. A quick reboot on the router would sort it back out, however instead of that happening once in a while it started happening daily or a couple of times a day so I decided to upgrade the firmware. After the firmware update to the newest version, WAN light would be red and the router would state that my ethernet cable is unplugged. If I rolled back the firmware, everything worked again. Asus tech support had me try all types of things to try to resolve with no luck. Finally after phone calls, emails, forms I had to complete, they decided it needs warranty repair. While that is great, they wanted me to be without it for at least 10 days or more while this happened. How about good customer service Asus?? How about you send me a refurbished one and I send this one back in that box? Tech support was based in India and extremely hard to understand on the phone. I haven't had this much pushback and lack of integrity from other brands of electronics, so I'm going to transition all of my Asus laptops and routers to other brands as they become obsolete. Update to this issue: Tech determined mine had failed and they replaced it. When I recieved the new one it did the exact same thing. Red WAN light, "a cable is unplugged" error message. Rolled back the firmware and it works. Great to know that they wasted my time and cost me $30 in shipping for their faulty firmware update. Previous 5-Star review: Quick background; I've owned many Asus products, and this is my 4th router I've had from them. I've liked all but one of their products. Before buying this router I grabbed the AC3200 which was not only a headache to try to set up, but consistently lost internet connectivity. I sent that back and got the RT-AX92U AX6100 instead, and I'm SO glad I did! We currently have over 30 devices running on this router with no issues. Out of the box: It's insanely simple and to the point. You have a router, a power cable, and a network cable. Flip the 4 antenna's up and plug it in. Build & Construction Quality: It's small, almost too small to think it can pack much of a punch, but it's misleading! It almost fits in the palm of my hand and is about the width of a dollar bill. It's fairly heavy for it's size, and the plastic seems thick and durable. In no way at all does anything about this router say that it's poor quality or cheap. Setup: Easy! Once I'd mounted the router to the wall and made my connections I connected to it through the network and it walked me through the setup process. The setup wizard makes it extremely easy to set up for the common user. The advance setup options will take some IT knowledge, but is still relatively easy to set up most features. I was up and running in as little as 5 minutes and had my Lyra Voice and RT-AC68P connected in an AIMesh configuration within another 20 minutes. The router configuration menu is easy to navigate and the user interface is beautiful. Performance: All of my previous setups (even with other leading-brand routers that have since malfunctioned) were in the same locations. I've always had struggles with having to reset/reboot my routers to stop quirky issues in the past such as losing wifi randomly, losing an AIMesh node connection, or losing internet randomly. I haven't had a single issue with any of these since running this router. Besides that, I almost don't need AIMesh as the signal reaches clear across my house and downstairs pretty well without it. My home is 2200sq ft with a basement and router is upstairs on one side of the home, and devices on the opposite side of the home downstairs now have a solid full signal whereas they used to struggle to even keep connection at times. This was before adding AIMesh. I now only use the AIMesh to help push the signal even further to my garage. I have 100/100 internet and it pushes near these speeds through wifi anywhere in the home with AIMesh (89/93). Features: The modem sports all kinds of features, many which I either will not use, or some I do not how to use. For now I'm using the parental filters for my kid's tablet and laptop, and the firewall. I plan to figure out the VPN and put it to use as well. I absolutely love the user friendly mobile app, it gives you complete control over your network and every device on it from you phone. Overall: By far the best modem purchase I have ever made. I've even tried other brands with no luck.. this router will not disappoint! I believe it is ahead of it's time and may still be relevant and in use 5 years from now, which is a lot of life for something in the tech world. UPDATE: Owning and using this router for a week now and the only issue I'm running into is after renaming my devices according to their MAC address the router starts to rename them back to what they originally were at random. I had this same issue with my past Asus routers as well and seems it still hasn't been fixed. It's by no means a dealbreaker, I just like to be OCD and organized. For example; I rename the device which is automatically populated as ECS39284 to "Living Room Smart Outlet - Lamp", and a an hour or day later it will be named ECS39284 again. I still stand at a 5 star rating for this router as it is doing it's main job, and doing it very well! ... show more

  • BE92U Operation Stabilized after latest update and hard reset of all nodes.
Style: WiFi 7 | BE9700
After reading the bad reviews and seeing the high unit return rate, I decided to take the risk. I installed an ASUS BE92U/BE 9700 to replace an old ASUS RT AC86U. My goal was to provide a stronger signal and the newer and faster 6G in the home "Mesh". I have four ASUS routers connected by wire (1G Ethernet) to cover the 4000 SQ ft area of a ranch house including an outdoor pool area. The size/shape and type of construction (brick/cement) required more routers than normally needed. I have had very good experience with these ASUS routers, the older model units has been in service in this attic for 10 years , surviving heat in the summer and cold in the winter. So with that kind of record, I felt the ASUS product deserved a try. After installation in the Attic for 5 days it survived a couple of 90 degree (F) days, and worked well. Suddenly, on a subsequent cooler day with 80 degree temperature high - the unit went offline, and the Gateway (an RT-AXE7800) stopped broadcasting any WIFI signal. A power cycle reboot did not recover operation of the gateway. So all units were factory reset, and I added each node back, one by one. Coincidently, an update for the BE92U came out (July 4?) while was restoring operation, so I installed the new update. The mesh had been operating for 7 days with ASUS BE92U as node in the mesh. ... show more
