Have used an earlier version, with copper pan, as our portable fire pit, in our smaller camping trailer, for over 15 years, well over a hundred times. Very well made and durable, easy to pack/unpack and carry, and holds a good-size fire. Wanted another for our new travel trailer (in addition to our camping trailer), so bought this. Upon looking it over, some things (the metal of the pan, the latches on the legs, the padding of the carrying bag, etc.) have changed in the years since the prior model, but it is still very light, well-made and packs easily; and seems as good as the one that has lasted us for years. We do a decent amount of backyard fires and bought this to replace another firepan that had lasted over a decade. This one seems like it will work great. Setup is easy and the pan is larger enough to hold a good amount of wood. The only minor drawback I had with it is it seems the pan only fits in the bag one way. The media could not be loaded. The reason for giving 4 stars and not 5 is that the description said a poker would be included, and it was not. I had to use my fireplace poker instead. Other than that, it is a wonderful product. Used it for the first time today and it worked great. Provided wonderful heat, nice flames, really, I have no issues with the 29 inch fire pit.     • A good size and good design that with a bit of care should last a few seasons as a portable pit.
As others have said. The bag is designed with a bowl on one side and flat on the other. Everything does fit in the carry bag if you set the bowl into the side of the bag designed for it. We also purchased the smallest Weber brand round grate for the bottom (12 or 13"). I don't think you need it but it did allow air to flow in beneath the logs which made starting the fire with kindling rather than fire starter simple and will probably save some wear and tear on the bottom. We're using it RV'ing so gave the inside and the Weber grate and the top a quick rinse with the hose and, after drying, a quick re-finish with black high heat, anti-rust paint before packing it up. It's a good little pit that gave us a nice sized social fire to sit around. The bowl sitting in the ring rather than having the legs attached to it will let you level it up even if the base isn't completely level. It is big enough to take several of the standard 16" length wood pieces you often see for sale in bundes and still put the top on. You can get a nice bed of hot embers to roast marmallows or other things on if that's your thing. It is light weght so the metal is thin; however, with a bit of care I don't see anything that would stop us from getting several good years of use out of it. ... show more

Assembles easily in the bag. Treat the bag gently though, its the only delicate part. The unit is light weight and easily cleaned making it easy to put back in the bag for storage. When we were done with it we left no trace of ever having a camp fire at the sight. The legs extended lock into place so you don't have to worry about it falling while you have a fire in it. When done the legs unlock and fold in. The screen lid inserts into the bowl of the pit and all easily slides back into the case. It's big too. Most of the other portable pits are smaller.
