I ordered this before Christmas for a present for my daughter. It looked beautiful and she could not wait till spring to put it out. After a few weeks the shine disappeared from the inside of it. When I was over at her home some days ago I picked it up out of the gazing ball stand to find the rubber stopper ( if that is what you call it) on the bottom has come loose/off. When it rains apparently water/condensation has gotten into the ball and ruined the shine. It is still a red glass ball it just does not have a shine to it anymore. It is sad that it only lasted about two months looking pretty and that is the purpose of it to enhance your flower garden. Not happy with this purchase. You would think they would use an adhesive that would last outside more than two months in Ohio. I have one I purchased at Lowes six years ago and it still looks pretty.

I ordered this ball because I wanted a stainless steel ball since the last glass one I had blew off the pedestal in the wind and broke. But when I opened the package the directions (shown in the photo) say that it’s a glass ball. I’m keeping it anyway since the stem helps keep it in my stand and it’s now wired down, too. I just thought others should know that’s it’s not packaged as being stainless steel.

The globe was a beautiful red. It arrived quickly, and in good condition. I inserted the "snout" in my pretty old fashioned high pottery pedestal globe base, which I wanted to use. (My previous glass globe had been a casualty some years ago-we blamed it on the deer.) This new globe blew out in the wind after a couple of days. Fortunately, it didn't break. My husband then rigged a styrofoam support with a hole in it, and shoved it around the snout, inside the base. This time, the globe survived several wind and shower fronts. Then about 3 days later, we found it shattered on the ground. I'm going to purchase a red steel globe next, and a new base. I already have a steel silver globe that has lasted for a decade, using an old water cooler base. Manufacturers-please produce a steel globe with a "snout" so I can use my pottery base!!!!!

The stem was too small for my Gazing Ball stand. I had the same ball for years and I wanted to switch the color. Purchased this ball and the stem was too small. I set it out anyway and by the following day it fell off and broke. I’ll purchase from a store next time so I can look at the ball before purchasing.
