    • Excellent Recessed Lighting with dimmable nightlight

These LED recessed lighting incorporate a nice nightlight, light temperature selector, and are 2-piece lights with wiring box inverter and connects to LED light with a quick-connect pigtail. Each light has a compact wiring box with three marinettes included. Once wired, the hinged door stays firmly closed. The lights include a template and the 4” models fit into existing cut-outs of other 4" brands. I really like that the gasket which is physically attached to the light has no risk of miss alignment during installation. The light performance in standard/downlight mode is good – the 2700k/3000k/3500k/4000k/5000k appear to be true to color temperature. Light performance in the nightlight mode is great – the halo lighting looks neat while providing adequate light to walk through a room or hallway. I installed these in a closed toilet room, a hallway, and laundry room that does not have natural light. The nightlight feature is great for safety when you have to transition through these rooms at night when lighting is needed. Our landry room is attached to the garage so that is really nice to see the nightlight feature on when hands are full bringing in groceries or other things. The profile of these downlights are a little ‘thicker’ than other recessed potlights to accommodate the nightlight feature. Installation: The wiring box has cut-outs to allow left, top, or right wiring. Select the light temperature mode during installation; the switch is at the top of the wiring box and not easily accessible once installed. The total length of cord between light and box is approx 9”. The nightlight mode looks great; I recommend use on flat surfaces or knockdown ceilings only. Regardless of recessed light brand, I strongly recommend using 2-piece lights over single-piece lights. The inverter boxes are great, and the included push in connectors were a huge bonus. There is enough room to use 12/2 gauge wire, but really only need a 14/2 gauge wire in the boxes for the low amperage leds. You will need to get a 3/8" knockout wire retainer to run your Rolmex wire into the inverter box as that is not included. The lighting is great, and I put this on a Lutron dimmer and both night light and primary work great. Overall, for the price, these are fantastic. They look classy and simple, and the night lights seem pointless during the day except for an cool amber uplight, but they really work well at night. I will say that you need consistent ceilings to not notice marks or dings or anything on them with the night lights. ... show more

As a Vine customer I was not able to get these installed within the 30 day review period but I can say as a NON proffesional that builds his own homes and have installed MANY can lights in new construction as well as remodel both can and canless I like the light over all. Very bright and the night feature is cool. easy to use from the on position flip it off and then back on again quickely and there it is. My only minor concearn is the plastic housing. IE how will it hold up to prolong summer time temps in the attic?. I will be calling Sunco's customer service number but that is only because I am an over achiever. I wish they had a metel box even for a few bucks more. My only reason for tjhe 4 star rating is the plastic junction box. Other wise these lights are great. Oh I forgot to mention the temp setting making it easy to match other near by lights or for the end user to pick their desired temp rating ... show more

    • Very attractive ceiling lighting option

These recessed ceiling lights are similar to many others I've installed over the past several years with the exception of the built in night light. The night light feature is initially what attracted me to these lights. I installed these lights in an L-shaped hallway that previously had one ceiling light that didn't provide adequate lighting for the space. These four lights combined resolved that issue wonderfully. These lights are nice and bright and have different white color options you can choose from (warm, daylight, cool, etc). That has turned out to be useful, as we operate the lights in daylight mode when doing house cleaning and in warm mode all other times. Love this option! These type of lights are so easy to physically install and provide a great finished look. You do need to be comfortable and knowledgeable with electrical winging if you plan to install them yourself. Even if you need to hire an electrician, the installation time is really quick, which will help keep the costs down for installation services. The housing boxes for each light are a polycarbonate material (not metal). While I would have preferred metal boxes, these should hold up very well to excess attic heat without cracking or degrading. Polycarbonate is a very sturdy and resilient material, so don't let this be a deterrent to using these lights. My favorite feature is the night light function. We have entertained several overnight guests over the holidays, all of whom expressed how much they like the nightlight feature when having to get up to visit the restroom in the middle of the night. Besides being a very practical feature, it also adds a really nice ambiance to the hallway space. I do not have a dimmer on these lights and can't comment on the quality of the dimming function. All I would add here is if you plan to use the dimming function, make sure you utilize a quality dimmer switch. Overall these are a very solid option for recessed lighting with the plush of having the night light functionality. Highly recommend! ... show more
