I recently purchased a piece of cholla wood to use as a decoration in my fish tank, and I couldn’t be happier with the results. What sets this wood apart is its unique appearance, providing a distinct look to my aquarium that isn’t as common as other decorations. Upon arrival, I was pleased to find that the wood was precisely as described in size and appearance. However, it’s important to note that before placing it in your aquarium, soaking the wood in water for a few days and changing the water multiple times a day is essential to remove the tannins. This process prevents the wood from turning the aquarium water a dark brown color. Once the soaking process is complete, the wood can be safely added to the aquarium without any concerns. The tannins won’t harm the fish; instead, they simply tint the water, mimicking a natural stream environment. Not big enough for a betta, and it’s been 3 days weighted down in my tank and it won’t sink. Probably going to go in the trash so the betta won’t get stuck trying to swim through. Also very rough and will likely rip a fin. Waste of money (for me). For reference the pic is just a 10 gallon tank. This log is being weighted down by a rock in the picture and you can see the size of the opening in the reflection.

I got the tunnel shape, and it's perfect! It was a minor or slow change in the ph of my tank water. I'm preparing to introduce neocaridina shrimp into my aquarium. This will be a perfect little hang out for them. My hillstream loaches are loving it! I already have mopani driftwood that they like to flutter around on, but the cholla wood seems to be a favored spot! I think the price was fine. It's really a lovely color and texture addition. It was unintentionally a great spot to anchor my water wisteria, and some of my pennywort has attached too. I don't think it will clog the wood for the shrimp either. If anything it will be beneficial for them.

I gave this product two stars, not because the product was inherently bad, but because I think the price for its size and look is ridiculous when compared to a piece of cholla wood I got from my local pet store. The one I got from my pet store was 6 inches long and had a diameter of 4 inches (basically 3x the size of the one I bought from here). It was much bigger than the one I bought off of Amazon and looks a lot better quality too. Comparing prices, the one from my local pet store was $12 and the one from here was $10. All-in-all, if you want a thin cave of cholla wood, I think it's fine, but I think you should look at local pet stores to be sure that this is the product for you.
