  • Break easily
Size: Balanced Light Plus Gauge (10.5-50) Color: 1-Pack
Bought a few packs, wanted to test them out. I like the packaging, attention to detail, personal touch, the concept, and the whole idea in general. However. Two of the .010 strings from two packs broke immediately when I tried stretching them. When I tuned them to pitch initially, everything was fine. But as soon as I started stretching, they broke right at the tuner peg. Maybe it's the sharp edge of the tuner hole, or it gets damaged by the locking pin. Other strings are fine (from the 0.010-0.48 pack), just the highest one breaks. In the end I had to throw away one pack, and still have a 5-string pack that I can't use. I am happy to support small business and not particularly disappointed by this since I didn't have a lot of expectations in the first place. But I probably won't be buying these again. Maybe I did something wrong or it doesn't work with my gear since a lot of people like these strings, but either way they don't seem to suit me, I don't want to spend a lot of money and time experimenting if I have other strings that simply work. I was trying to replace the stock 10-46 slinkies that my brand new EBMM Majesty came with, and it has decent schaller locking tuners. I ended up putting on a pack of 10-46 NYXLs instead and have zero issues. Stretched them, play them, they hold nicely. ... show more

  • Best feeling 'played in' strings EVER!!
Size: Balanced Super Light Plus Gauge (9.5-46) Color: 1-Pack
I have been playing guitar since 1977 and have tried every string , string manufacturer and size for four decades...the NYXL hybrid 9.5 size have been my 'go2' string now since they arrived on the guitar market not to long ago. I took advice from a friend to try StringJoy size 9.5 and what I noticed first was the feel of the strings were as if they were 'played in' for a few weeks already - which IS the holy grail of string comfort!!! After installing them on a few top level instruments I own (Parker, Ritter , Relish, Walla Walla) I compared them to my other guitars with NYXL on them and it was a HUGE difference ...the StringJoy strings took less time to acclimate, to be stretched into stability, to intonate correctly with consistency!!!.....these are a few huge factors when it comes to evaluating strings and their longevity- and I am a bit rough on strings- and with all the bends, pick attack, and vibrato, I have not broken a StringJoy one yet!!! Which is impossible !! compared to all other brands I have owned over the years. I will make one recommendation - please start offering multi-pack sets (3 or 5pc) at adjusted volume prices...and also offer a 'StringJoy Club' for the customer who will be changing out multiple guitars over the next months and years. I have #45 instruments in my accomplished collection and its getting a bit pricey to keep buying single pack purchases.........And - I would like to experiment with other sizes and I do put 'flatwounds' on my jazz box guitars and would like to try a StringJoy version of these special types in the near future(?) - other than that - congrats on making the very BEST strings I have ever owned and played!!! Chaotic Embrace- Chicago!!! ... show more

  • My favorite electric guitar strings, period.
Size: Balanced Super Light Plus Gauge (9.5-46) Color: 1-Pack
I judge guitar strings based on the following: tone, how quickly they "settle," how long they hold their tone, how they feel under your fingers when you fret and when you bend, and how stable they maintain tuning and intonation. I've played all the major brands, including some of the most expensive strings available. Most strings are good on a few criteria, but never all. These strings hit all my criteria: 1) they produce a great singing tone, well balanced from low to high frequencies, 2) they settle quickly after stringing the guitar (the reach a stable tuning pitch) after only a few bends on each string, 3) they hold tuning, tone, and intonation for a long time (compared with other strings I've used), and 4) they feel smooth and balanced when bending and when fretting chords. I purchased them first out of curiosity for one guitar and now they are all I used on all my guitars. Incidentally, if you like the feel of 9s, but the tone of 10s, give the 9.5s a try -- I've found them to be the perfect blend of playability and tone of any strings I've used. ... show more

  • The nicest pair of strings I've played
Size: Balanced Light (10-48) Color: 1-Pack
I just switched from Ernie Ball Paradigm strings to Stringjoy Signatures and I gotta say these are the best strings I've ever played. They feels so nice on the fingers and sound so good. I play hard rock and metal and these strings give such a good sound for me I'm so glad I decided to give these a try. Not only am I happy with the strings but also the presentation of the strings. The strings came nicely packaged and were signed by the person handling them which gives it more of a musician to musician touch. Stringjoy will now be my go-to for guitar strings and I'm looking forward to my next set of signatures that I'm gonna be putting on my BC Rich Mockingbird next! ... show more

  • Good premium strings - breakage issue
Size: Balanced Light (10-48) Color: 1-Pack
Update 2: High E string broke just like many of the other reviews. I do string bends. No other strings have broken even on the high E. Quality control or design issue! Update 1: took about a week and I easily do 3 fret bends! Tone is even a bit better too! No breakage so far. Finally got around to putting these on the guitar. (I had to do a full setup so I kept putting it off.) The strings feel smooth to my fingers and bend well, though a bit tight when I triple fret. (But not impossible. Have to break them in I suppose.) They make a good sound without modification. Will have to hear them when I turn on the SCREAM! They can take their place nicely with the other premium brands. ... show more

  • Too mellow. Great feel. Im torn
Size: Balanced Light (10-48) Color: 1-Pack
1st impression is these strings feel incredible. Durable and steady. Tuning stabilized very quickly as well. Problem is I put Balanced Light on an 2004 Epiphone Les Paul and they sound MORE mellow than the old D'addario Mediums that were 6 months old! I made recordings or before and after straight into a mixing board. The D'addario were definitely brighter when new. Im going to try swapping them to a naturally brighter DC Junior and see if they belong there... Bright and twangy on a P90 Junior. Weird. Maybe they just dont like Les Pauls. Really nice... but super mellow. ... show more
