  • FAKE STREAMLIGHT: 2 of 5 lights.
Color: Black Style: Protac 1L-1AA, 350 Lumens Pattern Name: Light
I'ts a really nice light, if you get a true Streamlight. 3 settings: Hi, strobe, and low. Hi is bright enough to easily shine across my backyard about 100 feet long. Small enough so it just barely sticks out from my closed fist when held, just enough to use as a strike weapon if needed. Great for EDC. The clip is the key - lets you attach to your cap visor. The problem: I've bought 5 of these now. Two of them: randomly they would not turn on, when they did work, would not shine brightly, and would make a very soft but high pitched noise. These were counterfeit, but by the time I had used them enough to figure this out, many months had passed, could not return. My last purchase 8/28/18 luckily a real streamlight arrived and works great - below is the list of things you have to check right away, and if these are present, then send it back - see attached photos: Signs of counterfeit Streamlight: 1. ten-tap programming does not work --> counterfeit 2. unscrew the end cap: if O-ring is BLACK (instead of orange) ---> counterfeit 3. take the end cap off, remove battery - if there is NO SPRING in the front end of the flashlight, where it should contact the battery, --->counterfeit 4. end cap with grid texture pattern instead of the "SL" streamlight logo ---> counterfeit See attached photos. ... show more

  • Better than surefire lights because you're not Spec Ops
Color: Black Style: Protac Rail Mount HL-X, 1,000 Lumens Pattern Name: Light
The only reason surefire can charge so much is because people are willing to pay insane prices for anything that gets a military contract due to the implied prestige and the feeling they get LARPing as their favorite DELTA operator. Anyone familiar with military contracts knows that the highest bidder doesn't get the contract. It's often a mix of cheap and reasonably reliable and even then not always. Surefire is not the best light manufacturer. They're great lights to be sure but they're overpriced by 300%. The streamlight is high quality and most LE or civilians won't put this light in military use conditions. Though streamlights likely would survive the same use surefire does. If you're willing to pay the premium to pretend you're Pat Mac then go with surefire. If you're a reasonable and frugal civilian who still wants great weapon accessories then buy this light with confidence. ... show more

  • Perfect EDC light
Color: Black Style: Protac 1L-1AA, 350 Lumens Pattern Name: Light
Small, bright, lightweight, programmable. Perfect EDC light. There really isn't a reason/excuse to not carry a flashlight - everyday. The ProTac 1L-1AA is a great flashlight and I think it will end up passing up the ProTac 1L and 2L models in popularity. If you were like me, you are wondering - "how can a flashlight take a small CR123A and a AA battery?". When you unscrew the cap, you will notice the AA battery slides down into a retainer that has a spring on the bottom side. The AA will protrude out of the end of the flashlight, but you just compress the battery down as you screw on the end cap. Easy. The CR123A's fit flush. It's a great concept. Ten-Tap programmable so you can run it in different modes: High, Low/High, or High/Strobe/Low. Just momentary press the end cap 9 times and press to click on the 10th. Great flashlight. *UPDATE* It has been one year since this review. I have carried this light in my left back pocket daily. A few drops, scuffs and scratches but it is holding up just fine. Wrapped 14" inches of duct tape around the middle because duct tape is always good to have with you. And, it adds a little grip too. It's a great light. * Please let me know if my review has helped. Thank You.* ... show more

  • Reliability
Color: Black Style: Protac Rail Mount 2L, 625 Lumens Pattern Name: Light
I am an Operator on a regional SWAT team and purchased this light for my SWAT dedicated rifle. Upon arrival, the light seemed perfect. Bright, clean light with the desirable mount kit. I rigged the light to my rifle and the issues started at my first training. I'd hit the pressure pad with no response. I replaced the batteries with no resolve. The problem continued and I was only able to get a flash out of the light when I whacked it on the side but couldn't get a constant on. I played with the connection and thought I fixed the problem until the light failed completely on a call out. I have emailed Streamlight twice with no response. ... show more

  • Light GOOD / tape switch mount BAD
Color: Black Style: Protac Rail Mount HL-X, 1,000 Lumens Pattern Name: Light
All hype and marketing from the other light manufacturers aside, this Streamlight HLX is the best long gun light there is at this price range and feature set. Period. Why. Pay. More? Light: The options and 10 tap programmable features are a win. I prefer the low/high setting. This light is bright AF on high. The low setting is great for indoors and training. Tape Switch: Personally I really like the momentary tape and constant on button option. That's definitely a win. Picatinny light mount: The mount is just OK. Slot it where you need it, twist it down tight, forget about it. For a better mount option, go with the Arisaka brand picatinny Gear Sector Offset Scout Mount. They also make M-Lok and KeyMod mounts as well, all for <$50 Switch mount: Streamlight knows their tape switch is BS. The two rubber picatinny switch mounts and zip tie system are ok for light duty and range use, but for serious life and liberty use, don't bet your life on them. The only solid option is to go Cloud Defensive, $80. Buy once, cry one - get both as a combo deal from Cloud Defensive and be done with it. Conclusion: The kit is a solid 4 stars. Streamlight kept the price down by not adding in a more solid tape switch mount. Sometimes aftermarket accessories is the way to go. I highly recommend Streamlight for all of your weapon and pocket light needs. ... show more
