  • So far so good!
I used this chair as part of my plan to surprise my husband that we were expecting so I had to set this up myself at a few weeks pregnant. I'm under 5 feet tall and less than 150lbs, so it did not take me much power to put this together before he got home. I received this rocking chair quickly, The box was heavy-ish but I was able to slide it into the house and take everything out of the box and bring it upstairs without hassle. It took me about 30 minutes to set up because you only really put together the back of the chair and the two arm rests. The one bolt/screw combo for the armrests were a little difficult doing it by myself but I was able to figure it out and that was literally the most difficult part. Everything else connected smoothly. The foot rest was slightly uneven making it knock on our floor when rocked. I will place something under the one corner to even it out. Right now I am using a piece of cardboard that came with the box and it is working just fine. The last annoyance was the snaps for the armrest cushions had a very hard time snapping because the material had no give. It took me a few tries to pull it taught enough that it would stay. Again, there were annoyances and not something that would have stopped me from buying this or make me want to return it. Hopefully, they do not unsnap while rocking because that will be a little more than annoying. It feels very sturdy to me. The wood felt solid and the chair did not make me feel like I was going to fall through. We will have my husband try who is a good 260lbs but honestly, I think he would think I paid more for it than I did. It feels comfortable, I am not sure if the cushions will flatten but sitting in it for a few minutes made me want to fall asleep. All in all I would say buy it! ... show more

  • Impressive design and quality at an exceptional value
My buying decisions are heavily based on a thorough review of the comments of other customers. We shopped for months to find the right glider for us as our first baby is on the way. We shopped local stores, national chains and even explored the second-hand and consignment market. In most retail stores a glider of average quality was over $200. In some cases we viewed gliders that offered only marginally better ratings, yet were 3 to 4 times the cost. We decided to go forward on this Stork Craft Hoop Glider because it seemed to offer the best value for the money. Our glider just arrived yesterday and our initial impressions are that this chair will hold up well as we plan our growing family. The packaging was adequate to protect the chair for shipping. The box arrived without any major blemishes and the contents were pristine and in their original packing positions. The build quality of the chair was better than I would have expected and the upholstery is of good quality. The entire chair assembled in about ten minutes. The chair is nearly complete, all you need to do is unpack the arms, back and upholstery and bolt these parts together with the included allen wrench. Once the back and arms are on, simply snap the upholstery in place. The glider mechanism is already assembled, as was the ottoman. Once the chair was assembled I spent some time in the chair to ensure that its comfortable and glides as it should. I am pleased to say that I expect this chair will provide comfortable seating for feedings and general playtime with baby. Others have commented that the seat pad is thin, while that is true, the foam used in the cushion is quite dense and there are zig zag springs under the pad to provide additional support and comfort. I'd recommend that you buy this chair and use the savings to upgrade other purchases. My only comment would be that the fabric is very light in color, so expect that it may get soiled with just regular use. Perhaps we will test a water/dirt repelling fabric protector spray to increase its stain resistance. Overall this is a solid buy and a great value. ... show more

  • You get what you pay and in this case, it's pretty good.
A lot of reviews are commenting on the poor build quality and the short lifespan of this product. I just ordered this product about a week ago and I will provide my input based off the first week of usage. Overall Impression: Overall, this chair is pretty good. I have yet to see any major issues that other users reported but It's not a perfect 5 star. Build quality is good and you get what you pay for but so far, it's been good. See below for some more detail. Assembly: The assembly of the product is extremely straightforward and easy. I'd almost argue it's easier than assembling a piece of Ikea Furniture. All the tools you NEED are included in the box. It is a simple hex wrench that is very similar to Ikea products. What may make it a LITTLE bit easier is a screw driver. I assembled the whole thing with just the provided hex wrench. The chair comes in four parts: The glide base, the back, and two arm rests. This doesn't include the padding. Once you bold all the extremities to the base, the pads simply button onto or tie onto the frame. After that's complete, you can enjoy your gliding goodness. The Ottoman comes in one piece that you just take out of the box. It's quite simple. Comfort: This thing is surprisingly comfortable. The pads (for now) are pretty cushy and hte spring loaded bottom of the chair gives you just enough give so you don't get a sore tail bone. Build Quality: Here's where a lot of people had issues. The build quality is not terrible, but at the same time, I did feel a little hesitant that if I put all my weight on any part (Back or arm rests) the thing would break. Over the last week, no issues have arisen and it's been pretty solid. Another complaint I've read is the glide has a scratching noise as if something is rubbing. I have not yet seen this issue either. Again, I've only had the chair for a week or so, so there's not telling what will happen. The cushions are comfortable for now but I can tell that they're not going to last very long. They are not a high density foam that's made to last, instead, they're a nice cushy soft foam that will wear over time. Pros: Easy to assemble Comfy cushions with pockets for storing things Cheap price Smooth Glide Neutrals: Don't think the cushions will last very long Decent build quality of the chair Cons: None to report yet. ... show more
