  • Very basic but that's ok
As someone who has played the piano for most of my life, I was interested in seeing if "Learn Piano for Adult Beginners" might appeal to my 12-year-old granddaughter, who enjoys spending time at her dad's keyboard. The book covers the basics, and I find nothing incorrect in its material. I find it to be a reliable guide for understanding the fundamentals of reading music and keyboard playing. However, I did feel that a bit more "fun" would make the learning process more engaging for students of all ages. Perhaps a few piano jokes could be thrown in to elicit a smile along what way? The songs were a good mix of variety, and it was creative, however. While the book is not an end-all on this subject, and in fairness, was never meant to be, it is a good start and has a place for someone with a desire and the time to play without knowing where to begin. ... show more

  • Learning basic Piano is easy with these books
This set of books is ideally suited to the adult who is determined to learn to play the piano. It is a very well constructed plan for the adult beginner. It is designed to cover every aspect of what you need to know in order to learn to play. I thoroughly enjoyed the section about music theory, and it really does a great job in helping you to understand the basics of reading music and translating the notes in front of you to the keyboard. It includes a lot of songs that we've all known for many years, and that makes it much easier to grasp these fundamentals. I highly recommend this book for anyone interested in learning to play, even if all you have is a cheap electronic keyboard (like me). ... show more
