    • Wonderful for stirring milk while heating for yogurt
I was simply amazed at how much better my life became with this stirrer. I make 10 quarts of yogurt every week that has to be heated to 180 degrees and has to be stirred often and better constantly. This baby allows me to do something else while it is heating. It does it so well that I was able to forget about heating one day and came into the kitchen to find it boiling and boiled over onto the stove. Ha! I thought my milk was ruined, but this stirrer kept it from scorching to complete burn and was still able to use the milk for my yogurt which was quite the surprise as the milk did not taste scorched. The brown stuff on the bottom of the pan didn’t get mixed into the milk due to the plastic pads on the stirrer and the brown stuff scrubbed off easily as opposed to a few past scorches I’ve had while stirring myself.     • Excellent XL Stirrer
The stirrer worked flawlessly. I used it to make 3 quarts of roux, letting it run continuously for 9 hours, while the roux cooked on a low flame. Using the silicone tubes on the bottom metal paddle, the process left zero scratches. It was quite impressive. NOTE: I'm inquiring the size of the silicone tubing, as the Stirmate website offers no information, nor does it offer that item as a replacement part. It may be 1/4" food-grade high-heat tubing, but no confirmation as yet. ... show more

    • Doesn't go all the way to the bottom of the pan
I was told by the manufacturer to buy this metal stirring wand to use for making caramel because the plastic one wand warped from the length of time stirring the hot caramel - even though the temperature never went above 230F. This metal wand has a small knob at the tip that doesn't allow the lowest stirring piece scrape the bottom of the pan. So you still have to stir the bottom of the pan.     • Saves you from arm cramps
It looks a little hokey, and cheap but XL worked like a champ for the 1.5 hour stirring needed to make homemade Dulce de leche. Used to stir the caramel manually, so I was happy to find a product that would do the tedious work for me. My arm is thankful for the rest and my skin is burn-free. Love how adjustable XL is for my different sized pots. I wish there was a way to get a thermometer/ temp gauge in the pot, but the thorough coverage of Omni XL doesn’t leave a space.     • The auto spoon works great!!!
I cook peaches down each year to use in fried pies. It is very easy to scorch this pie filling. The auto spoon works great and does not damage my sauce pans. For me this was money well spent.

Make sure you have pots big enough. It works great on very large pots. The one that comes with the auto stirrer works great on most large pots.

    • I love this when I am making a 5 gal stock pot full of soup
Once every few months I make a large (5 gallon) stock pot of soup, freezing in smaller portions when I am done. Many of the soups, like split pea soup, need constant stirring to avoid sticking to the bottom of the pot. If they do stick, they tend to burn easily ruining the whole pot of soup. If you have a stirMATE stirrer you know the value. If not, it automatically stirs your pot for you. This attachment is just the right size for the deeper and wider 5 gallon stock pots. Now when I am slowing cooking 5 gallons of soup, my stirMATE is constantly stirring the batch, allowing me to check on it periodically rather than standing there constantly manually stirring. ... show more
