Good, OEM saw chain

I bought my 261 a few years back from a local dealer. The dealer wouldn't sell anything but the safety chains and they ended up giving me a couple for free. I rotated those and one other I already had on hand, keeping at least one sharp one handy at all times. They work fine, but my brother in law with the same saw convinced me to buy a full chisel chain and after this past weekend, I'm sold on this chain completely. So much quicker for felling, bucking, etc. Just be doubly aware of kickback if cutting (safely) with the tip and wear protective headgear. I also understand that a bit more care needs to be had in maintaining sharp. I can say I spend the better part of a day bucking large oaks into rounds and I never noticed a decrease in cutting efficiency. I plan on touching it up quickly with a file before the next use (I highly recommend those STIHL Easy File sharpeners) and buying an extra as a backup. Great chain.

Night and day different than the factory chain! This is the full chisel chain and it cuts so much better than the factory semi chisel chain on my 271.

The media could not be loaded. Think of it as time or money. I have used many many off brand chains in the past. They do not hold a good sharp tooth for very long. The stihl chains stay sharper much longer and last longer too. Spend your time sharpening the chain once maybe twice a tank of gas, or spend the money on a good chain. I attached a video of a 18” bar on a ms261 cutting a full bar of red oak. It was at the end of my day and I said why not take a video. This is the third tank of gas on the sharpening I had done. Eats through it like a hot knife through butter. Another not use user fatigue. People that cut all day know what I’m talking about. With a sharp chain it not only saves the aches and pains afterward. It saves unnecessary maintenance on your saw and the bar from not having a good sharp chain.

Chain had come out of the original box during shipment however it did remain in the UPS bubble pack. Appears to be what I ordered. Price was very good.

Good reliable chain and seems to be lasting well. Second one I have purchased through Amazon. Once you get your model down and size make sure you order the correct one. Buying the Stihl chain makes this easy and error free.

This chain may be marked as for an 18" bar but it will not fit an 18" bar for the Stihl 250 saw. The 250 takes a 61 drive link count and this chain is a 74 drive link count. It is too long for the saw. I thought it was packed wrong but I had to do some research to find out why it would not fit the 250. You really need to check with a Stihl dealer or a Stihl catalog that lists all the saws and what chains will fit it before you purchase a chain. I've learned my lesson.

It is what it is. Robust and quality, just what you pay for. We live very remote and use the saw on bamboo, hardwoods, and softwoods. The chains never fail us
