Purchased this as a replacement for older version of same exact item that lasted 18 years. The older version was somewhat more robust with the water inlet connections more solid, but this new version was still easy to connect to. The new electric bus is flimsier than the older version, but more intuitive, just need to be more gentle with it which is a little challenging with the wire gauge to be used. Over all, installation of replacement took 20 minutes to install and be up and working. I’ve had this installed for a month and so far so good. On the first day, the temperature of the water fluctuated some but then stabilized. The installation involved both an electrician with 2 circuits costing $200 that I wasn’t expecting and then a plumber but I knew I would need both. I opted for the water filter and flexible hose at an extra cost but the unit seems to produce enough hot water for showers and never rubs out. I do not hear the unit when in use so I recommend this unit. Spare parts are also readily available in the US even though the unit is made in Germany. Having the thermostat on the unit is also a good plus as everyone’s preferences differ. Highly recommend ... show more

We are remodeling our house and were so excited for a tankless water heater. We ordered this model and had it professionally installed by a plumber and electrician. In less than 24 hours it was completely dead. No power at all. The circuit breaker did not pop but it lost power. We are paying for the electrician to come back and will have to pay for a new unit to be installed. Not to mention we are without hot water for DAYS! It is possible we received a faulty unit but we do not have the time to wait for a replacement to arrive. This is going to cost us much more than anticipated. In addition, our contractor had the city come by to permit the electrical/plumbing work that had been done and the inspector said he cannot approve this unit. He said that it does not have the proper certification safety stamps. ... show more

I decided to upgrade my tank hot water heater to a tankless myself. I have little plumbing knowledge but with shark bite fittings it was a breeze. I would recommend the pro as the flow limiter to maintain a constant temp is super nice for high flow appliances. (Like a tub spout). The water is always hot but if I turn on a tub spout the element can’t keep up due to the insane flow my tub has. The pro would limit this and help it maintain temp. ... show more

Bought this to replace the third failed Rheem unit. Pros: 2 leads, 3/4" In and Out, Digital Temp Display, Ability to fine tune the temp setting. Make certain you understand the unit's electrical requirements in relation to what you have available. If you are in any way uncertain, it is worth every penny to have an electrician come out and take a look BEFORE you purchase. Be prepared to have both a plumber and an electrician present for the install. Not saying you can't install this on your own because you can BUT these are more involved than just swapping out a tank style water heater. Satisfied with the unit after a month in service. If you have the option of going with a gas fired tankless instead of the electric version, go with the gas. If not, this unit is a good choice. Stay away from the Rheem brand of electric tankless water heaters. I went through 3 units in 5 years and one was defective out of the box. ... show more

I bought this unit 2 years ago, and it's been a dream. Takes up so little space, is quiet, and we really only have a problem in the shower if we have laundry going at the same time which is easy enough to remember not to do. The electrician we hired to install had never seen a tankless before (small town) and he scoffed at how high our energy bills would be based on the electrical intake because he didn't understand how these things work. I have wanted an excuse to install one of these since living overseas years ago and did my research and this one sounded like the most promising. We have only had one issue, it was due to improper re-install by a contractor who had to disconnect the unit for wall repairs and he wasn't careful with the wires. The customer service from Stiebel was so astounding, I figured I'd have to pay for the replacement part but they still covered it under warranty, shipped it out same day, and we received it very soon after. We were able to replace the part ourselves and have not had any other issues since. I know when the time comes for a new unit down the road we will be sticking with this brand for sure! ... show more
