This was used to replace a failing Bosch (a 20year old design) that required the hot water to be turned on full blast to provide approx 40deg heat rise. The Steibel operates as low as 1/3 force and provides water at preset temp at any flow rate above about 1/4. I had to repair or replace the Bosch units about every 3-6 years. We'll see how long this Steibel lasts. But in the meantime it is wonderful. I would highly recommend this to anyone replacing an old style electric demand water heater. ... show more

This is a direct replacement for one that was 13 years old. The old one still worked but on only one element. I suspect that I save close to $55 a month on average. I'm in central Florida. It's hard to tell since my other appliance usage is irregular. I do believe that it has more than paid for itself in savings. Ok so this is a real review. You have to have two 40-2-pole beakers, then you need the proper wire... 8 gauge I believe. Don’t quote me on that. But you will need to ensure that you have the space. It works well, it saves space and it looks great. I need to see about maintenance but so far. 1 month in, hot hot hot water. It is really important that you know what size of house you need it for, if you have more than two showers go the next size up. Enjoy! ... show more

I live in southern Indiana and we have well water. With the temps hitting 0this winter and the water heater set at 123, the upstairs shower was getting water that was warmer to hit off and on. The downstairs shower is great and we have very hot water. Our electric bill is a lot lower (maybe 30-50.00 lower and last Spring it was only 107.00!! With the fluctuation of hot water upstairs, I still love this water heater. Not sure if it would work for a hot bath. But I take showers anyways. No leaking and no problems. ... show more

Intermittent hot water, can’t handle even one shower at regular pressure, constantly having to troubleshoot the thing. Well beyond my return window because it went in a new build and unfortunately we designed the water system around this unit. Will try and reach out to Steibel for advice but I don’t have high hopes and am hesitant to spend money on a bigger unit from the same manufacturer. ... show more

We use this as a booster unit and have a larger one in our garage. Between them, we literally have endless hot water. You can set the temperature as high as 140, we have ours set at 130 degrees. It gets VERY hot. In the shower, we mix 25% hot water and 75% cold, it's that hot. We could turn it down, but I like it that hot for the dishwasher and when multiple showers are happening simultaneously. There is no loss of water pressure with this unit.
