Car theft is on the uptick and sometimes I'd like a little more security when parking my car on the street, especially downtown. I tried this setup that locks the steering wheel to the seat belt lock. Comparing this security lock to something like The Club, I would say that this is equivalent in terms of security, but a little bit more cumbersome to use. (I've owned The Club before) The reason is that I have to loop the stiff cable in it's own loop, install the red blocking part, and then lock the cable. A would-be thief would be able to cut through the steering wheel, similar to defeating the Club. However, I need more time to insert the metal piece to the seat belt lock, position the red blocking part, insert the end of the cable, and lock the lock. Reversing the process is needed to remove the set. Because it's bright yellow and red, it might deter someone just a little bit, so I would still use it when I feel nervous.

This safety car theft detour is good but not the best. I wish the rope was more secure. It is nice that you can loop it around but sometimes annoying too. This will work but it's a bit odd. Overall, I feel like the price & product is adequate. This great if your in a new or sketchy area with your car & are worried.

I was looking for something to use on my vehicle as a theft device and saw this. I was not sure at first as I had not seen this kind of configuration before. I thought why not give it a try. It works pretty well. This is not 100% theft proof. It is more of a deterrent that hopefully someone will see it and move on and not want to take the time to mess with it.

Strong thick cable & a bright yellow PVC coating make this steering wheel lock easily visible to eyes peering into a car. Visibility alone will deter most thieves. Failing that, he will have to come with the right cutting tool to quickly cut off this lock. All that said, a determined thief, with several minutes available to do the deed, he WILL succeed! But, in this case, the vehicle at risk is an old pick-up, not nearly as attractive as most other vehicles parked around, most of which will be easier targets, so he’ll move on. Takes less than thirty seconds to apply & to remove. Should hold up a potential thief about ten minutes. Happy with what I got for $17 to protect my old F150!

As most other reviewers have said (and I agree), this steering wheel lock is just a deterrent that will slow down a thief and/or make him think twice about breaking into "your" car. Hopefully he will move on to someone else's. My use-case isn't as a steering wheel lock. Instead, I plan on using this anti theft device to secure a locked aluminum camera case (filled with expensive photographic equipment) to the seatbelt bracket in my car. I of course don't regularly leave an expensive looking camera case in plain view in my vehicle, but there are times when on an assignment that some of my equipment may be exposed in my locked car. This clever device will deter any would-be smash-and-grab thieves who would hopefully think twice about stealing a case that is locked to the car. Even if my case isn't visible, using this device will give me the peace of mind of knowing the case can't be quickly grabbed and stolen. I would like to have seen the main body of the locking mechanism manufactured out of aluminum rather than hard red plastic. That would give me more confidence that a thief with a hammer couldn't just smash the unit open and defeat the locking mechanism.

This car protection device is different in the approach to car protection, It uses a loop around steering wheel that is secured to seatbealt lock on the side. The main issue in using the seatbealt buckle is how uncomfortable is to access it while seating; whether you are trying to lock it or unlock it, especially if you are an average size person who happens to be right handed. It comes with the looped chain, two metal buckle addaptor and a plastic casing of locking mechanism. I would not recommend this product if you are constantly in a hurry.

This is a nice device and I do plan to use it on my little subcompact car. But while I honestly think that it could very well deter a would-be thief from trying to steal my car, it would be more because the would-be thief would simply decide it to be more trouble than it’s worth to break the car window and go through the exertion of sawing off or otherwise disabling the cable on this device when all he would be getting was a six-year-old car that sold new for less than $20,000. My point is that while a device like this might very well successfully deter a thief from expending the effort to try to get the device off an older and inexpensive vehicle, a thief would be far more likely to be willing to go through the hassle of deactivating this anti-theft device if they were getting a more expensive vehicle, say a luxury SUV or expensive sports car, or even just a $40,000 sedan. I definitely believe this device has its place and can be a theft deterrent but it isn’t a panacea.
