  • Freaking comfortable!
Color: Black Size: Wireless Style: Arctis 7
I had to give these things some time before I wrote a review. I have had several turtle beach headsets over the past couple years. And they all broke within the time I have had these Arctis 7. The physical build quality is beyond any headset I have ever had. I have gone through three sets of Sony ps4 (2 gold, 1 platinum) headsets in a year. All broke at the foldable hinges. I went through 5 turtle beach headsets (4 600 stealth, 1 elite pro) in 2 years. All broke at the cheap plastic extensions. Yes, including the elite pros. The Arctis 7 is made of metal. Even the rotating cups have metal hinges! These things are solid. I game a lot. I mean a LOT. And the metal frame hasn't even lost its grip on my head. The elastic headband is comfortable and adjustable. I have a larger than average head and they still fit me perfectly. Super comfortable for extended gaming sessions. I didn't believe the battery life until I got them fully charged and ran a 13 hour marathon one night. The next day they still have a good 5 hour charge left. So the battery life is no joke. Even after running them all the way down, the recharge time only took a few hours. Can't really remember how long exactly. It wasn't terribly long. Sound quality isn't what I'm used to hearing however. The mids and highs are good, the bass is very flat. I wish they had a lot more oomph to them. I might be able to get more out of them through the equalizer. In order to use the equalizer you have to connect the arctis 7 to a PC or laptop and install the program. It's a simple program to use too. Be aware however, the DTS 7.1 setup is only compatible with PC, not ps4. There is virtually no noise cancellation. The foam around the ears is reasonable but not the greatest at shutting down outside sound. The microphone is very quiet. I had to turn up my mic level nearly all the way for anyone to hear me. And even then I still have to talk louder than I prefer. The range of the wireless receiver is awesome. I can go into my bedroom behind the wall and not lose connection at all. No wire connection to your game controller for microphone use either. Simple plug and play. I did have to change my sound/devices settings on my ps4 to all audio in order to get any sound. So you won't have any sound on your television unless you change it back to chat audio even with the headset shutoff. Overall I love this headset. The sound quality could be better for the price, but they are so comfortable and the super solid build quality wins my approval. If anything happened to these, I would buy another set no questions asked. ... show more

  • Many Wireless Headsets - Arctis 7 Wins!
Color: Black Size: Wireless Style: Arctis 7
Wireless Headsets I went through before keeping this one: (problem from memory in parentheses) HyperX Cloud Flight - Bought/Returned (pressed ears slightly?) Corsair HS70 - Bought/Returned (pressed ears) Corsair Void Pro - Tried in-store (pressed ears) Logitech G533 - Tried in-store (clunky, harsh cups) Razer Nari - Bought/Returned (heavy) Astro A20 - Tried in-store (pressed ears) Sony Gold Wireless Headset (late 2018 updated version) - Tried in-store (pressed ears) Bluetooth aptX Headsets (we'll get into why later if you're interested): TaoTronics TT-BH036 - Bought/Returned (latency) Avantree HT4189 - Bought/Returned (latency, clamping force, pressed ears) Comfort: This is the most common reason I returned/did not purchase many of the previously mentioned headsets. I apparently have a very weird head. I'm super sensitive to shallow cups (ears stick out causing pain if pressed for a long time) and clamping force (big head causes headaches if squeezed for very long). Heavy headsets can still "squeeze" my head due to weight on top of my head even if they don't have much clamping force on the sides. Due to this, I feel confident that I am as critical as it gets as far as headset comfort goes. The Arctis 7 was kept because it did not cause discomfort when wearing for many hours. There is a caveat: As it comes in the box, it has too much clamping force for me. Luckily, the headband is made out of "sheet metal" and an adjustable strap. The strap can be loosened to let the headset contact as much of the top of your head as possible (distributing weight to remove pressure points). The metal band can be bent backwards to reduce how hard it squeezes your head. I found a forum post somewhere made by an acclaimed Steelseries employee who advised this, so that is what I did, and it worked great. Just be gentle, do it a little at a time, eventually it will be perfect! There is no padding on the interior of the cups which scared me as I usually need it, but these cups do not touch my ears somehow so it is not required. Latency: This is more of a side note for the bluetooth headsets. Most everyone knows that bluetooth headsets will have higher latency than headsets with proprietary wireless transmitters. What some don't know is that there is a variant of bluetooth protocol that aims to correct this, it is called "aptX". To use it, both your transmitting and receiving devices must be aptX enabled. I will admit, the latency was very low for the aptX bluetooth headphones. When watching videos it was unnoticeable, however when playing an FPS, it was very very soft but it was there. Switching over to my wired headset confirmed this. If you are going for a wireless headset for gaming, you currently must get one designed for it. The Arctis 7 does not have noticeable latency, nor did any of the other gaming headsets I tried. Speaker Quality: I'm definitely not an audiophile but I have higher than average taste in sound. This headset sounds nice. I have not played with the EQ, but I may try to turn up the lows a little bit. Mic Quality: It's wireless, and a gaming headset, so it is what it is. It seems to pick up more depth to the sound than other mics, your voice won't sound as flat, however I suppose this comes at a cost on background noise cancellation as it seems a little more prevalent in this headset than others. Construction: This is one of the more well-built units I've got my hands on. Time will tell how it holds up, but the build quality seems upper-tier. Battery: I can't comment on this, but I highly advise that you get some magnetic micro usb cables. Basically, the cable becomes two pieces. You plug a little micro usb dongle in your headset and then you can connect the corresponding cable any way around. The dongle and cable magnetically snap together. Makes plugging the headset in so easy that you won't ever be conflicted with "should I fumble with the connector or should I skip charging for now and just do it later". Any time I set the headset down, I charge it, because it's super easy to do so now. Therefore I will never be able to comment on batter life. If you too are plagued by comfort issues, and maybe do not want to go wireless just yet (cost being the only reason I can think of), I would highly recommend the HyperX Cloud Silver. They're not cheap but they are worth it. To this day they are the most comfortable headset I have ever worn, with good sound and great build quality. ... show more

  • Unbelievable audio, full set of features
Color: Black Size: Wireless Style: Arctis 7
I work from home (remotely for a team based elsewhere), so I'm constantly on conference calls. We use a VOIP app at work (sort of like Skype for Business), so all of our "calls" are through the computer. I've been using a bluetooth headset (Plantronics Voyager 5200) which is great for phone calls, but for conference calls with a bunch of people sitting around a table, it's not great. Some people are close to the phone and are super loud, others are further away and are unintelligibly quiet, and adjusting the volume all the time isn't great. After work, I game a lot. Usually while on TeamSpeak. I've been using a set of desktop speakers and a mic mounted under one of my monitors. With volume detection, I'm able to get TS to pick up my voice when I'm talking, and ignore mouse and keyboard sounds when I'm not, but the speaker audio isn't great (and is only stereo), and the mic is pitiful. So, it was time for a new purchase. I wanted something that would give me great audio quality, preferably with some measure of surround sound, and some good equalizer settings to tune game sounds (accentuate footsteps and weapon clicks, downplay deep explosive bass and such). But it also needed to have clear stereo sound and a good mic, for work. And if possible, be wireless (because I already have too many cables running around on my desk to begin with). After a lot of research, I decided on the Arctis 7, and when it came yesterday, I was completely blown away. My first conference call with them was like I was sitting in the room! Everything was so clear. I turned up the dynamic range compression (which says it compensates for fluctuations in volume), and it was remarkable. The mic worked very well, too, and my coworkers said that the keyboard sounds (which used to be nearly deafening from my mechanical keyboard) were much quieter. They could hear me better, and the keyboard was quiet (though still audible). In the evening, I had an evening of gaming with a friend of mine, and tuning the gaming audio with surround sound settings and such was awesome. The level of detail I've been missing in my games is ridiculous! It sounds great now. The chat mix dial was awesome for adjusting chat levels when needed, but really, all the audio was so clear, I really didn't need to mess with it much. Regarding build quality, packaging, etc., these headphones feel very high end. Great build quality, solid materials, and so comfortable! I wore them for a couple hours during the day, and again for several hours in the evening, and though I can't say I was ever at risk of forgetting they were on and walking away, I definitely can say that they were completely comfortable. The only complaints I have are minor, but in the interest of completeness, here they are: * The cables that come with the headphones don't feel particularly durable. They aren't braided or anything, so I could see them wearing out well before the headphones do. But, they're all standard type cables, so they'd be easy to replace. The mobile audio cable does use a somewhat uncommon 8 pin mini USB, more commonly seen on cameras, but as long as you know what to look for, you can find them for cheap. * The battery indication is pretty disappointing. You have a green light for 50-100%, yellow for 20-50%, and red for under 20% (slow flash for 10-20%, fast flash for 0-10%). Nowhere in the software or on the headphones does it show you a percentage. And, when you're charging them, I really don't know how to tell when they're done charging. All I know is that they're somewhere between 50-100% charged. That's a pretty big range! In summary, I'm blown away by these headphones. I was hesitant to shell out $120 for them, but now that I have them, I can definitely say they were worth it. ... show more

  • Ups and downs Ups and downs
Color: Black Size: Wireless Style: Arctis 7
A friend got me this in the summer of 2020 and just RECENTLY did the ear cushions start to fall apart. I used them everyday from when I got them to the end of 2023 with infrequent use till now. I'm thankful for my friend and for this product for lasting this long with only this one replacement. Other problems are the bluetooth chat sounds horrible and is an unnecessary feature. The multiple volume wheels are useless and get in the way. There's also a broken piece of plastic in the left unit that rattles when i shake it. I also had some problems with my ears rubbing up against the hard plastic inside of the headphones. The cushions don't seem to be thick enough for my ears. But that good things are that the sounds quality is great, the aluminum band is flexible and resistant, the cloth adjustable strap is soft yet sturdy, the mic is good and the mute button is useful. Even with some of the downsides these headphones are a great investment just wished they lasted forever. ... show more

  • Great headset, really like the wireless feature
Color: Black Size: Wireless Style: Arctis 7
I use this for cubicle conference calls and listening to music. No game interaction to comment on. Works great, love the red light on the mic when you mute it. Sound quality is awesome, former colleague turned me on to SteelSeries years ago as we used them for music and conference calls at our SEM tools, but those were wired. I can now take this headset and my laptop into our lab and hold troubleshooting calls with vendors and have both hands to do my tasks. I know others like Bluetooth ear buds, but I purchased these primarily for same thing a gamer needs, good sound and microphone. I haven't used them in the cleanroom yet to comment on background noise, which is substantial in a fab environment. I had them on nearly all day at my cubicle and they never got uncomfortable or too warm like some of the leather ear cups can. I like SteelSeries microphones and how this one pushes into the headset. Actually that is one of my favorite features. The fit for me was great out of the box, I have a fairly large noggin, so no adjustment was needed. I also like how the size adjust is the band and not slip style as is typical of most headphones. So it has less parts to end up compromised long term. The headset I replaced, a on ear Jabra, failed due to the size adjust feature that took out the right speaker wire. This is a better design for long term wear. The Jabra set lasted me about 5 years. The only con for me is that I'd like more friction on the volume and chat level dials like aviation stuff. I got about 50' away outside before the sound started cutting and having issues when testing tje wireless last night. I get even less trying to wander around at work, but wire free at the cube, even during conference calls, is a really nice feature when looking for bits. These are rated as PC Gamer product of the year, they earned it. SteelSeries speakers don't have the marketing of the nose in the air brands do, but they sure nail the sound quality and beat those price points. Very impressed. I'm a 50 y/o engineer, so these will see much more conference time than gaming, but still a very well executed headset. I'm more impressed than expected, and I tend to expect a lot at this price point. ... show more

I tried many wireless headphones from other brands before I decided to stay with this one, including some Sennheisers and Plantronics Backbeat Pro 2. I'm glad that I bought this headset. The material for the ear cushions is a soft, breathable fabric, not the pleather that is typical of so many other products. This means that your ears will avoid temperature extremes much better than they would with that material. The fabric also allows the cushions to more successfully mold to your head and create (in my experience) less pressure. The sound the Arctis 7 delivers meets my expectations. I'm coming off of owning a set of Audio Technica studio monitor headphones so I definitely expected something more "true to sound" than what you typically see in a gaming headset, which often have overbearing bass boosting. These sound great, honestly. The bass hits when it should and you don't lose your mids or highs in the process. Unfortunately I can't speak to the quality of the microphone as I use a standing mic. The headband was something that I was skeptical of at first, being that I had only ever had traditional padded headset bands in the past. I think this might honestly be a better solution. It doesn't cause the pressure you can feel from a traditional band so you can wear it for hours and hours on end without any discomfort. The battery life isn't something that I've measured directly, but I can go a full day's use (heavy use) on a single charge at the very least and the charge time seems to be very fast so it really isn't an issue. The only negative I can leverage against the headset is something that I'm not even entirely sure is the fault of the headset. I had an issue of it not putting out any sound after I tried to use it after putting my pc to sleep and then waking it. Power cycling the headset didn't fix it and changing settings in the SteelSeries software didn't fix it. I'd have to either restart my pc or unplug the receiver and plug it back in. Very annoying though. All in all, I feel like I can safely recommend this headset to someone wanting a good pair of wireless headphones for home use. ... show more

  • As if it needs another 5 star review
Color: White Size: Wireless Style: Arctis 7
Storytime: I was over at a buddy's house for the weekend as he lives up north a ways from us. We're both big gamers so I brought along my pc and headset. We left to go disc golfing and came back to find my turtle beach stealth 450 in disrepair. What happened to them... we may never know. At the time I was upset because they were expensive when I bought them. So now I was in a mad scramble to find a pair of headphones. After looking at headphones for what seemed like 12 hours I finally settled on these. It had good reviews and the price was way more affordable than most wireless surround sound headphones. So I thought I would take the risk. Boy am I glad I did. Review Time: So this "horrible tragic death" of my turtle beaches turned out to be a blessing in disguise. I am so fanboying over this headset. It blows my old 450's away in every way. First take away, The freaking comfort!!! The headset is somehow light but not cheap. The headband is sturdy and the earmuff part (don't know the technical work) is sturdy. The ski-mask headband adjust is amazing. No pressure on top of the head. I seriously forget that I am wearing the headset. The second take away, The sound quality is amazing. The bass is incredible. I listen to a lot of music so its nice to have that as I listen to a lot of blues. The last thing I want to rave about is the battery life. As I unboxed my headset with great anticipation, my glee was drastically disrupted as i hit the power but and the power button flashed red. The headset was low battery. Well, i was too excited so i hooked it up to my computer anyways. I sat down and worked a full 8 hours and the headset still hadn't died. That's impressive that it was low battery and still provided me with 8 hours of uninterupted melancholic blues. Thank you SteelSeries for this amazing headset. I am so impressed with this headset. I will make sure to leave a review on my twitch channel and youtube. Job well done! Truly, KingOfTheSticks93 ... show more

  • Amazing Battery life and excellent sound quality Amazing Battery life and excellent sound quality
Color: Black Size: Wireless Style: Arctis 7
And ease of use . I am surprised, there is basically no lag that I can find, I play CSGO competitive usually and this thing still lets me find enemies with ttheir steps. A bit of a background: I Used to have a USB dac amp with a studio closed back headphones and a modmic, I wanted to move to a wireless headset and ended up buying this. So lets break down and compare: Sound: Amazingly similar, if not a bit bass boosted, it has some good audio stage and great quality, no lag for wireless. Microphone: is not a modmic, my voice is not that clear compared to it at least and there is a bit of compression but is neglibile, I dont pick up any more background noises with it which is awesome. Features: it has 2 volume sliders which I still dont understand, this headphone once connected to a PC shows up as 2 devices for windows: Arctis Game and Arctis Chat. The slider on the right allows me to set full volume to either one while the one on the left allows me set volume in general. This means I can mute the voice chat by simply moving the knob on the right or mute the game which I find it amazing. Of course on windows you should configure the default communication device to arctis chat and the keep the arctis game as the default one. Not only that but the microphone being retractable is really nice and if you mute it via button there is a red light on the left. Battery: Amazing , of course its been about 1 week and a half , but so far a week of using it (about 2 to 3 hours daily) and haven ot needed to plug it in back. yet. Comfort: it is nice, its not closed back so some sounds might leak but at least I dont get bothered by it , I am not big headed so cannot say much about the pressure but my other headphones are the CB 1 studio and this ones do a bit more pressure than those. They are light so I dont mind using them and walking and range is really good, about 5 mmeters away I was still hearing sounds from my pc. Conclusion: No regrets buying this, if you have a wired studio headphone with a FIIO e10k and a studio headphone with a modmic ( that is my old setup) and you want to move to wireless on a budget. This is it ,Volume might not be that high but the audio quality is there. Again I used to have my windows at 20% volume with the e10k and the cb1 headphones, with this one I must go a bit above to 30%. higher than that and I might damage my ears. I plan to update this should anything happen with the headphones. ... show more
