I tested a few panels and chose this one because it’s the only one that offered an extended warranty, which tells me the quality is more reliable. In Arizona heat it outputs about 19.6V open circuit and keeps my car battery charged while I’m away, which I need for my Allstate device. I rated it 4 stars because the cables feel cheap and soften in the sun, which doesn’t match an outdoor product, you need all weather type of cables. Lucky me, I got extended warranty just for that reason. Plus the back of the panel has a compartment where I can solder a better cable if needed. My other concern is back voltage, it stated that it has protection on that but when I turn on my car I get 13 plus volts and if that goes back to the panel, the panel will get a heat bubble on it that cause damage. I will monitor for that but usually a fuse is needed to protect the panel. Anyhow I hope this is a good long lasting panel and controller.

I needed a reliable way to keep my spare vehicle's battery topped off without dragging an extension cord out to the driveway every few weeks. Most cheap trickle chargers barely push enough voltage to overcome natural drain, but a 20W rating seemed like it would offer enough overhead to actually get the job done. The kit arrived with everything necessary to get started right away. I was glad to confirm it comes with both alligator clips for temporary use and O-ring terminals for a more permanent installation. I went with the O-rings for a cleaner setup under the hood. The panel housing feels rigid enough for long-term outdoor exposure, and the adjustable bracket makes it simple to dial in the right angle for the sun. What really makes this setup work is the smart MPPT controller. It handles the charge regulation much more efficiently than older, standard controllers, ensuring the battery gets a steady trickle without getting overcooked on extremely bright afternoons. There is one small detail to keep in mind before you install it. The cables running from the panel to the controller, and then to the battery, are a bit on the short side. If you plan to mount the solar panel high up on an RV roof or on a post away from the battery box, you will almost certainly need to buy an extension cable or splice in some extra wire of your own. It does exactly what I needed it to do. My battery stays consistently charged even after sitting untouched for weeks, and the whole system was straightforward to piece together.

Everything felt well made out of quality materials and the installation process was simple enough to complete in a short amount of time. The panel itself feels sturdy and durable with a solid frame that is capable of handling different weather conditions. It has been exposed to sun, wind and a couple of rainy days without any issues and it continues to perform consistently well. It features a smart controller which takes care of several concerns of mine, including preventing the charger from short circuiting and over charging. I am able to monitor the charging status as indicated on the controller by two lights. It also features an adjustable mount that locks securely into place without any drilling or screws required, I just plug and play and it's ready to go. Overall, I am very pleased with its performance and the charging efficiency.
