  • Works great on Win10 but needed to install driver from Startech
Loving this hub as it allows me to extend my desktop across three monitors, use the USB 3.0 port, and use wired ethernet, all at the same time on my Lenovo Yoga 920. Better yet, it's small enough to carry with the laptop. Its not super light, but not too heavy either, about right for what it does. It does get warm (I'll never have cold coffee again), but not unexpectedly so given how much high performance electronics are stuffed into the small space. I did have to download and install the Win10 drivers before anything other than the wired ethernet would work. It would have been nice if that hadn't been necessary like the instructions said it wouldn't, but that doesn't affect my rating since they were easy to find and install from the Startech website. Sadly, I only have HD monitors, so can't verify that it works with two 4k ones all the way to 60 Hz -- someone else will have to review that aspect. ... show more

  • Hdmi didn't last long
Got this in 2018 for a whopping $145. A few years in the hdmi ports started glitching, screen tearing side to side. Have to plug & unplug throughout the day. Won't be buying from this brand again.

  • Works with no effort
I just plugged it in, and all functionality worked as expected on my mid-2017 MacBook Pro, and my coworker’s 2018 model. It is built solidly, with an attractive finish. I am happy with my purchase. I have two small dislikes about this dock. The first is a minor worry that it runs rather warm, not so hot that it will burn something, but more a concern for the longevity of the internals and solder joints. My second dislike is for the extremely short, and non replaceable cable lead. I would like to tuck the dock away on a far corner of my desk, or behind a monitor, but unfortunately it must live nearly right next to the laptop at all times. In revisions of this product it would be nice to see a female Thunderbolt (USB-C) jack, with replaceable cable. ... show more

  • Good, some small issues.
I have a Lenovo Yoga with 2 Thunderbolt 3 ports, and this is very helpful for typing, as my laptop does not have a full keyboard. It worked great out of the box. The only 2 issues I have. If my laptop goes to sleep and I wake it up, one the monitors scrambles and I have to plug and unplug the HDMI cable to get it to reset to normal. I also had an ethernet cable get stuck in the jack on this, and was seriously worried about breaking the cable or the dock getting it removed. In fairness, these issues could be related to my computer graphics card or the ethernet cable. This is ideal for me. I do wish there was a USB-C port on the dock as I have some USB-C peripherals that would be nice to plug into the dock. ... show more

  • Kinda Works with Linux
Just a heads up this appears to work fine in linux. Have to manually enable the displays but there's no issues that I can tell. Currently running with it and 2x 1440p monitors in Kubuntu 19.04 on an Asus Zenbook Pro Duo. -- Update -- Looks like only one HDMI port works, and one of the USB ports. Ethernet doesn't seem to work. May be able to get it working with some messing around. Still great product and will keep it to play around with, will probably end up using it more with in windows though. ... show more

  • wireless mouse doesn't work with this device; extended display works well
When I ordered the StarTech.com Thunderbolt 3 Dock - Mini - Dual HDMI - 4K 60Hz - Bus Powered - Laptop Docking Station, I ordered it so that I could extend my laptop display onto 2 external monitors via the HDMI ports and plugin/use my Logitech MK270 Wireless Keyboard and Mouse Combo via the USB port. I don't believe this was an unrealistic expectation as one of the advertisement pictures show a wireless mouse and keyboard along with a laptop and 2 external monitors. The display extended without any issues, but my wireless keyboard and mouse do not work when plugged into this docking station. Due to this, I will likely return as it doesn't work as expected. If all I can do is extend the display, there is a much less expensive option out there to extend the display only. ... show more

  • Dual Monitor Adaptor
Easy to use. Connects to the USB-C port on the Mac and displays the image on two HDMI monitors. Also has two USB ports to connect a mouse and keyboard and a network connector.

  • This dock does the job, but has limitations for a MacBook Pro
Edit: Reduced to 1*. No matter what I do it always reverses my external monitors. I've tried different usb-c ports. I've swapped the HDMI cables on both the monitors and the dock. *No matter what* the screen order is wrong. It's so annoying and it sucks my productivity. I thought it was just sometimes but with Catalina it is *every time*. I bought this for my MacBook Pro. The unit itself is extremely sturdy and well built. The usb connector and cable is robust and sturdy. The case is solid metal and feels like it could take a beating in a bag. This would be a 5 star unit but it really has some problems: 1. No matter what, when I connect my computer to the dock my screens are reversed. I've set the display preferences. I've swapped the monitor cables. Nothing works. I have to reset it every time. 2. The ethernet connection is extremely slow, like 100 Mb/s slow. Like, it's faster to use my wifi slow, by 3.5x. 3. Why is one of the USB ports only USB2? Seriously? I don't really care that much but in light of the other problems it's worth pointing out. ... show more
