  • I love this KVM
So, first of all, I had been using a cheap KVM for years (I use a Mac for most things, but I need a monster PC for games, and don't want separate monitors for each machine), but I bought a new monitor recently and got really tired of switching my KVM, my monitor, and audio separately. Like, finally got tired of it after 6 years of doing it. There's some serious sticker shock when I found a KVM that would meet my needs, but what the hell, I clearly DO need a solution, and it's not like I'm going to switch to only Mac or PC anytime soon, so I bought this hoping it would solve my issues. I really love this KVM. It actually doesn't solve my monitor issue, but I doubt that's the KVM's problem (my Mac mini only supports HDMI, and has ALWAYS had issues pairing with my Asus ROG monitor...so, throw a converter in the mix, and it just won't work, unfortunately), but for everything else, it's outstanding. The picture quality hasn't degraded at all compared to a straight connection, the consolidated audio has been fantastic, and it has a good solid build that just feels much nicer to use than my old plastic KVM with the button tied to a thin wire. My only cautionary tale is that you know what your current equipment can handle before investing in something like this. Like, it's not this product's fault that Mac Minis don't play nice with my monitor's brand. Frankly, I'd rather replace the monitor at this point than the KVM, since I never use the expensive features of my monitor that I paid for... Overall, great product, highly recommended. Oh, and it doesn't come with any wires (um, except power). Buy the wires you need with this. ... show more

  • G-Sync Not Working
I only have 2 issues with this unit: 1. G-Sync does not work with the unit. I can plug my computer directly into the monitor and G-Sync works just fine. As soon as I hook it up to the KVM, G-Sync is disabled. I am going to try a higher quality cable, just to confirm sure that the KVM is the limiting factor here. 2. Lack of cables. I understand that in a professional environment, there is a good chance that cables are already provided and that IT folk installing this equipment may have specific needs that wont necessarily be met with this unit. I think there should be two units sold. One can be the pro bundle with just the switch and the other can be a home bundle with the switch and a set of standard-length cables. Other than that, this is a solid device. I tested out 2 other KVMs before finally deciding to spend the money on this unit. It is working great and the front and rear USB 3.0 ports are great. ... show more

  • Works great with my 34" ultrawide G-SYNC gaming monitor
For years I've been looking for a KVM switch that supports gaming on an ultrawide G-SYNC monitor. Everything that I tried previously had issues, and none of them could handle a G-SYNC monitor running at 3440 x 1440 at 100 Hz. Well guess what? This StarTech KVM switch works! I'm shocked, and I love it! Here is the equipment that I'm using: • Computer 1: Apple 16" MacBook Pro, connected to a CalDigit Thunderbolt 3 dock. There is a DisplayPort 1.2 cable running from the dock to the StarTech KVM. • Computer 2: Digital Storm Windows PC with an EVGA 2080 Ti card. There is a DisplayPort 1.2 cable running from the dock to the StarTech KVM. • Monitor: Acer Predator X34, 3440 x 1440, running at 100 Hz. Everything performs exactly as expected. Switching between the two computers is easy and fast. It works flawlessly every time. G-SYNC functions as expected. I eventually plan on upgrading to an even bigger monitor with a resolution 3840 x 1600. I suspect that won't work at 100+ Hz, because DisplayPort 1.2 won't be able to handle the bandwidth. However, for the moment this StarTech KVM is working great. I hope they upgrade it soon, so that it supports even larger monitors. ... show more

  • Great KVM, but some some minor hiccups with macOS
I use this KVM currently with the LG 34GN850-B ultrawide monitor, my desktop gaming pc with a GTX 1080 and a 2020 Macbook pro 16 inch. I use a UCB-C to displayport adapter for the mac and a regular display port cable for the PC. One in 5 times it will take a couple toggles on the KVM for the Mac to recognize the display being "attached" and activated. No issues with the USB side of things though. I will note that I had to manually set my LG 34GN850-B to displayport 1.2 mode, otherwise the display would never sync through the KVM. Not a major deal, but as far as I can tell the only difference is the refresh rate is now limited at 100hz. ... show more

  • It works - but not at 144Hz on an ultra-wide
I have an LG 34GK950K Ultra-wide screen and have been in search of a KVM that will support 144Hz. I have it connected to my work computer and home PC both via DP. Unfortunately, this one does not work at that speed (the screen periodically goes black). I've also tried the ConnectPro UDP-12AP which doesn't work either. Seeing reviews and Q&A that say it works at that frequency - I assume that those are standard panels. The search continues... ... show more

  • Works perfectly for my use case, although pricier than I'd prefer.
At the end of the day, this product is pretty much perfect for what I wanted to use it for. I have a 3440x1440 ultrawide monitor that runs at 100hz. I wanted to be able to swtich back and forth between my gaming PC and my macbook pro, and take advantage of the full refresh rate for my monitor. This product works perfectly for that use case. I think this would be an easy 5 star if the price was a little lower. But for a niche product with some complex engineering challenges, this is an easy recommend. ... show more

  • USB stopped working after two and a half years
When the product works, it works great! However, the USB ports stopped working after about two and a half years (outside of the warranty period). I did troubleshooting with their support, and confirmed it could not be fixed. It is definitely not worth the price, and I will not be buying another one.

  • G-Sync worked - no cables provided
I have a 1440 P monitor with G sync. This product did support G Sync with my setup. It is not rated form Nvidia so your mileage may vary. I was able to get full resolution and FPS on my PC and M1 Mac mini. It dose not come with any cables, so make sure you get good cables and make sure they are as shots as possible for high frame rates. The input and output lengths stack, so t2 6’ cables mean your at 12’ and could run into artifacting at high frame rates. ... show more
