I have really enjoyed flying some inexpensive RC helicopters and a couple of basic drones before, but I am totally new to FPV flying. I have enough experience to know that learning by crashing drone is not the way to go, and can get very expense vey quickly. So when I saw this STARDRONE S8 RC Flight Simulator Controller on Amazon for a reasonable price I decided to order it. I can"t say I have mastered the FPV skill set yet, but I am learning and getting there. And I haven't crashed and ruined any 'Real' drones yet (but i have crashed a few simulated drones - which is why I ordered this)! So, Yes, it is definitely worth the money to develop your flying skill in a :safe way". I also like the fact that the simulations can be used on different operating systems such as Windows and Android (I don't use Apple devices), and I often just enjoy using flight simulators on my window - especially when casting to my bug screen TV for a more immersive experience. The down side is that the controller is not 'exactly ' like the real (and inexpensive) FPV drone controls I currently have - but it is certainly close enough to significantly develop my flying skills and dexterity so that I can fly them with way more confidence and safety. Another downside is that you need to find (and likely have purchase) one or more drone software packages that is compatible with, or very similar to, the software you will actually fly your drone with. However, if you have an oddball drone model (like I do) that may take some trial and error purchases to find ones that is reasonably close and compatible. Thus, I deducted one star from this review.

Before I buy a real FPV drone, I bought a StartRC simulator which is basically same as a real FPV! So cool and easy to fly and worry free if you crash! Nice investment to make some practice!

The media could not be loaded. This controller is amazing for training or logging hours when learning FPV. I can leave it on my desk when I want to get some virtual fly time in. It's very responsive and feels much like the DJI Avata/Avata 2 controller. I highly recommend it for gaming and training! STARTRC has made another great product!

While this simulator controller is perfect for training to learn drone piloting, you must spend additional money to get any of the simulators this controller is capable of interacting with. Once I did break down and purchase one of the simulators, I must say, it is far better than crashing the real thing, which can be very very expensive very quickly. While I am not entirely new to drones, this device has turned my piloting skills from worrisome, to impressive in a very short amount of time. I used to lack so much confidence, because every time I flew I knew it could be my drones last flight. However with the simulator, that worry has gone out the window and I can focus on flying and getting finesse and nuances down that are 100% necessary to be even a mediocre drone pilot. The controls allow for 2 basic setups which have a different way to change in each simulator plus a bit of customization in a few others. If you really are serious about upping your skill level to be a better fpv pilot, I highly recommend this product. Log 15 to 20 hours of flight time, which on here means no waiting for batteries to charge, which is another upside to this simulator. Afterwords,, you will notice a huge difference in yur piloting

This controller is a great starter for someone interested in practicing FPV in the simulator but isn’t ready to jump into buying a radio. Compared to an Xbox controller, it is a way better option. It has a couple of 2-position and three-position switches, mode 2 gimbals, and a USB-C connection. These make it feel like a radio and easily hook up to a PC. The gimbals make it feel like a real radio and start building that muscle memory. On the other hand, all modern radios today can be used with a PC and for FPV. For not much more money, you could put that towards a real radio to use when you are ready to fly. In addition, this radio feels VERY cheap on the hand, is quite small, and has tiny gimbals. Ideally, it’s best practice with the radio you intend to fly with. In conclusion, if you are looking for the cheapest way to fly in an FPV simulator, this is a great pick and way better than any typical gamepad. However, I’d suggest saving the money and buying a real radio to get started.
