Works as advertised.
Awesome accessory for any pilot. Setup is easy, and compatibility with most major sims (X-Plane and Flight Simulator). The downside is that it is a bit expensive, and the push-pull knobs are too close together. They work, but it is a little tight.

Overall, this is a very good TPM setup. I'm giving it 4 stars because 4.5 stars isn't an option. But for a few minor items, I would certainly give it 5. First, my setup is this Sierra TPM module coupled with the Honeycomb Alpha Flight Controls. I was using the Honeycomb Bravo Throttle Quadrant, but I exclusively fly the C-172. So while the Bravo worked fine, it was not as realistic as I wanted. And while there are other TPM modules available, they did not match my Alpha controls (which, I think, are the best controls available). When I realized Honeycomb had come out with this TPM, it was a natural choice. This TPM fits perfectly with my Alpha controls and provides very realistic TPM levers. They include the friction nut on the throttle and the fine adjustments on both the prop and mixture. If you want to mimic the C-172, this gets you there (short of a full panel option). However, it's not perfect. As others have noted, the controls are positioned too closely together. This was obviously a design choice for space and to include the trim wheel, flap lever, and parking brake knob. As such, I understand why that choice was made. I probably would have made it myself. For me, that doesn't have a huge negative impact. If my demand was perfect realism, then I'd endeavor to build an exact C-172 cockpit. The trim wheel could use some attention. It is tight. Very tight, actually, and not at all like the trim wheels one might find in average GA aircraft. One might be able to loosen it up by disassembling the module, but I'm not going to do that. I significantly prefer the trim wheel on the Bravo. Honeycomb would do well to address this issue. Also, *BE CAREFUL* with the friction nut on the throttle. It *WILL* come completely loose/disconnected if you loosen it too much. It should have a stop to prevent this but it does not. That would be a poor design choice and one I would not have made. I found this out the hard way and struggled to get it screwed back in place. So, learn from my mistake and don't over-loosen it. Aside from these minor issues, I am quite satisfied with the Sierra TPM Module and would have no problem recommending it. ... show more

Sierra TMP with X-Plane
Using with X-Plane 11. Beautiful workmanship. Only issue I have is I'm unable to get the landing gear indicator lights to function. The gear reteack works fine just no indicator lights. That is still a work in progress. Otherwise I would still purchase again.. Very realistic.

I hope future products will offer even better quality control.
Once that black knob is unscrewed, it cannot be put back in place. I contacted the manufacturer, and they stated that this defect is common—far from an isolated incident—and is even considered "normal." This was disappointing, as I have long been a loyal fan of the brand and own almost their entire product line. I believe the issue lies in the internal design—specifically, the lack of a mechanism to prevent the knob from coming loose. This could have been easily resolved with proper attention to quality control during the design phase, but since they are failing to address it, I intend to give up on the brand. ... show more

I am a Private Pilot and learned to fly in a Cessna 150 and 172. Both aircraft use the plunger system for throttle and mixture control, and also for propeller control in aircraft with constant speed props. Recently I've begun to transition to the Diamond DA 20. It uses regular handles for its engine control. Until a few days ago, I've been using the Honeycomb Bravo throttle quadrant for both aircraft as I fly the Cessna 172 as much as the DA 20. But, I decided I wanted to get Honeycomb's Sierra module to be used when flying the 172. Since they use the same mounting base, it's a 2 minute task to change one for the other depending on the airplane I'm flying. The Sierra is a quality piece of flight gear. I would expect nothing less from Honeycomb. Now, I feel much more at home when flying either aircraft. When flying the 172 it's so nice to reach over and feel the familiar touch of the plunger controls. I'm including three photos. One with the Bravo throttle module in place and one with the Sierra in place. I have a dual control setup so when someone is "riding along" they can try their hand at flying. It also makes it easier when I'm teaching my 83 year old neighbor how to fly. And, a few months ago I added two side monitors so I can now glance left or right to see what is out there without losing sight of my forward view and instrument panel. I'm including a photo of that configuration. And, the Honeycomb Sierra simply tops it off. ... show more

Find a better company to do business with
Honeycomb QA and customer support are THE WORST. The throttle knob fell off, apparently this is a common and known problem with the machining of the threads. I have contacted Honeycomb on three occasions for a repair or replacement with no response other than the boilerplate “we’ve received your request” email. Absolutely useless and unacceptable customer service. ... show more
