Description

Darth Vader might tell you that he decided to go over to the dark side to save his wife from an untimely death, but we kind of suspect he did it just so he could wear this cool helmet. Perfect for taking a stroll on the Death Star, chatting with Emperor Palpatine and ruthlessly hunting down the remaining Jedi in the galaxy, this classic Star Wars helmet hides the scars you may have incurred while making the switch to the dark side, all while terrifying small children. This helmet is an amazing product for star wars fans who dont wanna waste hundreds of dollars for an authentic Vader helmet, this is fairly cheap (money wise) and looks realistic enough, it comes in two pieces which is great considering the real deal is a two piece, it has a nice glossy shine to it so it has a new and clean look to it, its made of plastic that durable enough to last but it will fail if you try to use it for protection The eye lenses are blurry so its somewhat hard to see, its manageable as long as you dont have to read, it was a bit scratched on the outside but its hardly noticeable at a glance. the inside is basically a bucket so its rather roomy and big on the inside, some padding on the inside should help with that. you may get toasty if you wear it long enough Otherwise its a nice collectors item to have displayed in your home or use for cosplay, it came early for me and I'm rather impressed and highly satisfied, I highly recommend if you're looking for something realistic yet cheap definitely worth buying. ... show more

  • the power of the dark side....

I just received this mask in the mail today from Rubies. It's an awesome full mask (mask with helmet). I recently also bought a lower end mask that didn't have the helmet. It looks cool, but not nearly as cool as this! This one has better visibility than the lower end one. Still, any Darth Vader mask may be hard for some to see out of. The perriferals aren't the best in them. But this mask does have better vision than the cheaper ones. It's not even too bad to see out of at night. It also seems more breathable to me too! The detail on this one is crazy! It's accurate & looks just like the real deal, both in person & pictures. I'm able to wear it just fine overall. It's a little big for me, but not bad. It looks fine on a guy my size (5'10" 150lbs.) & like I said, it's still wearable. Totally recomend this one to any Star Wars fan. The box it comes in is pretty cool too! I keep it in the box when not in use.My 8yr old son was like "no dad, don't get Vader's mask....he's with the dark side". But after seeing it he really want's one too! He does occassionally wear it too, just to joke around with it. I got a kinda lower end Vader costume. But with this mask, The good Darth Vader gloves, & the FX Light saber, the costume looks much, much better! the Darth Vader FX lightsaber is recommended for sure to go with it too! For those that don't have that or are aware of the FX Lightsabers, they are awesome aswell & totally worth picking up! ... show more

Just received this and inspected it over. All good and fast shipping. Just to clear things up from questions about the eyes. The lens are dark like wearing sunglasses. If someone shines a light or get up real close, they will be able to see your eyes, but otherwise if your standing back or in a darker room, then no. As far as looking out the eyes, the vision is a little distorted. As long as you walk slowly, your fine. If you are move quickly or in darker rooms, it might be difficult without tripping on steps. It's made of very durable plastic, and will definetly fit large size heads. I actually need to put some foam inside at top and back because it's a little loose (I'm 50 yrs old/ 5'7"/ 160lbs). Because I'm smaller, with the top of helmet moved forward on the velcro, I can still slide the whole thing on or off without undoing anything. Those with larger heads might still be able to do the same if the top portion is adjusted back further. C'mon, it's a full size enclosed Darth Vader mask and helmet for about $40. After Halloween, I'm putting the costume on a life size mannequin in the mancave. ... show more

  • Decent for the price

First off, for those folks looking for an authentic costume piece, yes, this is the Don Post helmet officially licensed by Lucasfilm. Keep in mind that it is missing a few "screen-accurate" details (widow's peak is too sharp, there are no "tusks," the neck is a bit long, the eye shape is off, etc). The mask can be modified (do a Google search) to look more screen-accurate, though. It is made of thin plastic that scuffs pretty easily, so take care with it. You may want to consider painting it, anyway, to match your Vader costume of choice (ANH- satin black and ESB/ROTJ- gloss black with gun metal grey). Fit: My head is about 22 inches (~56cm) in circumference and the mask fits me no problem- even with my overly large nose. Since I use the mask as part of my Vader stage combat costume, I've attached two straps joined with a strap adjuster. That keeps the mask from wiggling around. I'll be adding a bit of padding next. Visibility: It's surprisingly good. Safe enough to perform well-rehearsed stage combat out of the box. Though, I do recommend replacing the stock lenses, since they distort your surroundings a bit. Sound muffling: You'll really need to speak up for people to hear you. Since I'm on a stage and can't afford to lose volume, what I did was cut out the plastic "grill" sections and replaced them with black tulle. Same effect, less muffling. Screen-accurate? Not really, but I'm only going for "close enough." If you're on a budget, this helmet is a decent choice. If you're looking for screen-accurate out of the box, look elsewhere. ... show more
