My daughter absolutely loves it.

  • Great lyre for saxophone - confusing at first, but it DOES bend
This lyre is strong and flexible. It stays put on the sax if you install it correctly. I would definitely recommend it to all the sax players out there! When I first received this lyre, I was confused. The post on the lyre looks and feels like hard plastic, so I couldn't figure out how I could adjust it so my son could see the music. I went to the website first, which has videos about how to assemble and install the lyre. Unfortunately, there are no videos for the saxophone (pic of website included). The trumpet lyre is the same model #, so I watched that video instead. I was still confused, so I contacted the company. They responded to my emails in less than 24 hours and assured me that the part that looks like hard plastic is indeed flexible and directed me to apply some force. Lo and behold, the lyre did bend and I was able to adjust it so my son could see the music. Since it is very rigid, once adjusted, the lyre does not move on its own! Overall, this is a great lyre and the company is very responsive. If they added a video to their website featuring the saxophone (hopefully making it clear that the post will bend with some force) , I would rate it five stars. ... show more

  • Clearly says was specifically designed for Saxophone - But SO Perfect for Me & Guitar.
This MusBoard Saxophone Lyre was really helpful to me as a guitar player. All of the other clip-on holders only fit phones - and they have either no neck or very short goosenecks - so while you can attach your little phone, which is hard enough to see, turn pages on... it's usually down the neck - and a strain to see/change pages/ screens. I like to print out my lyrics when I write songs, because I will change lyrics/ words/ punctuation/ line order a dozen times before it's even close to being finalised. Technology is great - but sometimes good ol' pencil and paper is the best tech for the job. So even though the MusBoard is built for the Sax - They thankfully designed the grip to open wide enough to latch onto my headstock, and it's super-wide... so it's actually more secure than most mounts for guitar. And because it's designed for Sax - it has a nice long arm that bends easily - but is sturdy and won't move from your positioning. The Lyre back snaps in securely and is X-Axis positionable... and holds the pages at both top and bottom. I can use the sleeves for finished work - or mostly without - for works in progress.... but either way, flipping / advancing through songs/ Flipping to next song...is way less cumbersome. Priced at just-under $25, it does seem a little expensive... but maybe not, once you take the inclusion of the sleeves into account. But that said, just the features and the build are good enough to begin to make it well worth it - depending on your needs and how you like to work/play. I was really happy with how its simple features and design differences from your usual Guitar Phone / music holder were helpful to me. Very happy with it. ... show more

  • good quality
This seems to be a really good-quality saxophone lyre. I got it for my son, and he assures me that it fits his saxophone perfectly and works well for what he needs. One of his favorite features is how adjustable it is. He’s left-handed, so sometimes things designed for instruments can be a little awkward for him, but he was able to adjust this to a comfortable position. Being able to change the viewing angle and distance makes a big difference when he’s trying to read his music while playing. The flip folder is also a nice size, with 10 clear sleeves that can hold up to 20 sheets of music. It feels sturdy and well made, and everything seems to stay securely in place. Since I’m not the saxophone player in the family, I’m relying on my son’s opinion here, but he’s happy with it and says it fits his instrument well. For a marching band student who needs an adjustable music holder, this seems like a solid option. ... show more

  • Secure Lyre and Flip Folder with Strong Arm, but Heavier Than Expected
This saxophone lyre and flip folder set clamps extremely securely to my son’s saxophone. The arm between the clamp and the flip folder is very stiff. At first, I thought it wasn’t meant to bend and worried it might snap, but the product description said it was flexible. It took my husband carefully bending it into place, but it is adjustable once you put some strength behind it. My son prefers clamping the lyre to the top of the bell so the music sits closer to his eyes. His music is printed very small, so having the music closer helps him read it more easily. One feature we really like is how easily the flip folder rotates. You can quickly access music on both sides of the sheets without unclipping it from the lyre. The 10 provided music sleeves are the same width as standard ones but taller, which is great because you never have to worry about music not fitting. The only downside is that the hole placement at the top doesn’t match the holes in standard flip folder protective sleeves, so if you buy extras, you’ll need to punch new holes to make them fit. My son’s only complaint is the weight. He says it makes the saxophone feel heavier and weighs it down a bit. He may get used to it over time, but right now he still using what's he more comfortable with, which is his traditional lyre. ... show more

  • Really nicely designed and built
This is really nice. Lots of peices of it arrived well designed and built. The mounting feet are rubber coated steel, and while they feel like they are secure, also don't feel like they will damage the instrument. They lead up a 5.5 inch arm to a ball swivel joint, which is tight enough to stay where you put it, but adjustable enough to let you angle it where you want. The page holder has a couple rings to hold the pages, as expected, but also has a couple lightweight clips at the bottom to hold the pagea still while moving around - but to were you could still swap pages easily. Thr page holder also does attach and detach from the pole pretty easily. It can be pulled off or on by sliding it to the left or right - it snaps into place and is secure when on. The upper ring clips are also pretty smooth. Overall this is about 14 inches top to bottom. At first I thought it messed up how the arm that arrived was straight, and in the product images it's curved. It is easily bendable, to mold to the angle you want. It feels like that can only be done once though. All in all it's a nice set. ... show more

  • This can not be put together - as far as I can tell
Impossible to put together. I tried very hard to figure out how this might work and slot a simply does not fit into slot b. They could have easily sold this in one piece without the complex set up. Very frustrating and so this is unworkable for me.

  • Easy to Adjust and Great for Playing on the Move
My husband was really happy with this saxophone lyre and said it's much easier to use than the others he's tried. It was quick to set up, and adjusting the viewing angle and position was simple, so he was able to get everything exactly where he wanted it. He especially likes the combination of the rings and clips that keep the music pages securely in place. Even though he only plays at home these days, he still likes to move around while he plays and dance with our son, so having the pages stay put without constantly shifting is a big plus. The included sleeves hold plenty of music, and the pages are easy to flip through when needed. Everything feels sturdy once it's attached, and it stays in position while he's playing. The mount fits his saxophone well, and overall the design feels well thought out for musicians who want to focus on playing instead of adjusting their music. This has been a great upgrade from the other styles he's used, and it's made playing much more enjoyable for him. ... show more
