Description

This clip on tuner for guitar handles noisy environments with ease thanks to its built-in vibration sensor. The LCD display’s easy-to-read needle indicates how close to pitch a note is, and the screen's backlight turns green once the note is in tune. The FT-1’s dual-hinge design allows you to mount the clip on guitar tuner on either side of your instrument's headstock. The full-range chromatic tuner is ideal as an electric guitar tuner, bass guitar tuner, or acoustic guitar tuner, with A4 calibration for A440 +/- 1 cent accuracy.     • Four stars because first one I received wasn't working
The only reason why I'm giving this product a 4-star rating is because the first one I received was not working and I had to return it. Outstanding service from Amazon for replacement unit: I received it on the following day from reporting the original unit defective, which means, it was shipped in less than 24 hours. Very easy return process, too. Now to the one that I have and does work. For some reason, I have always struggled to tune my acoustic guitar. I always had to rely on someone else to tune it for me. This tuner makes it a breeze. This is an example of when technology actually helps. It's very accurate. I don't think I have ever had my guitar tuned so fast and sounding so perfectly tuned so quickly. Yes, I may be horrible at tuning my own guitar, but I can definitely tell when a guitar is not tuned. So this is a lifesaver for me. 5 start for accuracy. It is definitely easy to read. 5 stars for this, as well. The display changes from blue to green when tuned and the gauge moves telling you in which direction is off. Once tuned, it's vertical and green. Now, 4 stars for easy to use, at least for me. Maybe it's just me. (Most definitely, but putting it out there, in just case there are other people like me.) For whatever reason, my display is always facing opposite from me after I have clipped the tuner. It's an easy fix as you just turn it around. But who knows why I always end up with it facing the other way so I cannot see the display until I turn it around. And talking about the clip, that's another thing. I wish the clip would open a bit more than what it actually does. It would be easier, as well as faster for me to clip it on. The other reason why I give it a 4 star for ease of use is because, unless you're paying close attention, you could end up setting it up for the wrong instrument. You have to press this tiny button right under the display and do so again until you reach the corresponding setting for the instrument you're trying to tune. The screen displays a very tiny letter for the instrument near the lower-right corner of the screen (G for guitar, V for violin, Etc.) It may be hard to read for some people. The font could definitely be a tad bigger than what it is. Nevertheless, I love it so far. I would actually give it 4.5 stars if I could. And I will definitely be buying another unit if anything ever happens to this one. Oh, one last thing. The cap for the battery compartment is a bit tricky for sliding back in. But how many times are you really going to be changing your battery? So it's something I can definitely live with, but it would be nice that they improve it for future models. I have had many guitar, automatic electronic tuners in the past, and have not been satisfied with their accuracy or their ability to hold a charge. It seems like every time I pick them up the battery is dead. The fender tuner, that I am reviewing here is a very much improved Automatic electronic guitar tuner over anything that I have used in the past. The nicest part about it is, it is also the most accurate guitar tuner that I have ever used. Usually after my guitar is tuned with any of the other tuners. I have to go back and check the strings the second time with the fender guitar tuner. I am totally confident that the strings are in tune the first time and don’t need to recheck it.     • Inconsistant Readings
This is a nice little tuner as long as you don't expect too much from it. I found the readout to be a little inconsistent, so it takes a bit more time to get each string correct. This may be true of other clip on tuners, but I initially found I could not get any readings for checking intonation of any string. Later, I found changing the setting fro guitar to chromatic mode solved that problem. As others have noted, the clip spring tension is a bit too much.
