This is my first tanning mousse. I’ve been using a gradual tanning lotion. I liked the end result of it, but I’d have to basically leave it on all day and smell horrendous. Half of it would wipe off with clothes and god forbid you sweat or get water on you because it would streak. I saw this and it seemed like such a better option. It only takes 1-3 hours depending on how dark you want it, which means I can put it on after dinner and just wash it off in the shower. AND IT DOESN’T STINK! But even if it did, at least I’m not walking around all day with it stinking. I’ve had it on for a week. The tan is extremely natural, and doesn’t fade in patches like my lotion one did. It is still looking good a week later. I get compliments on it that I wasn’t getting with the other one. I went 2 hours and felt it could be a little darker, but then see my tan line and realize we’ve come a long way! I will be getting this from now on. I also have the spray, which works great for the face and hands.

Due to my many skin allergies (including photosensitivity), I have been on the search for a self-tanner that I could use for many years. I can't go out in the sun for long, so I am pale but haven't been able to find a self-tanner that I could use because they would irritate my skin or just turn my skin orange, smell funky and the product would normally rub off on everything from my clothes to the couch, bed sheets, etc. I came across this product and thought I'd give it the old college try and, let me tell you....I am so grateful that I did! I ordered this product on Amazon (prime) and it arrived the next day - packaged perfectly. Couldn't wait to try it, so I jumped in the shower and quickly exfoliated and then used plastic gloves (like the type you use for hair color) to apply to my legs/feet, arms/hands, shoulders/back and face (I never wear a 2-piece swimsuit, so I didn't bother with the belly area). This mouse is easy to apply and is tinted so you can see exactly where you put it. Oh, almost forgot, based on product suggestion, I smoothed in lotion on my feet/toes, hands/fingernails, knees/elbows and eyebrows before applying. I waited 2 hours before washing off. You can wash off after 1 hour for a light tan, 2 hours for a medium tan or 3 hours for a darker tan. My skin felt a little sticky during the 2 hour period after applying and my face looked a little like an oompa loompa, but after rinsing it off, it looked perfect - not orange in the least and no streaks! I was careful not to rub too hard when I rinsed it off, I just stood in the tub and rinsed off and lightly wiped with a washcloth. My skin actually looked lightly tanned and had good color (not orangey). The smell isn't horrible either. Today is the 2nd day since applying the self-tanner and my skin still looks great...I actually wore a skirt to work without pantyhose. Yippee!! Another plus for this mouse is that it hasn't rubbed off on my clothes or anything - even after being outside in the hot sun all day. It faded slightly after showering this morning - but I still have plenty of color. I plan to re-apply tonight to get that perfect tan color. I'm thinking that I will apply every 2 days or so to maintain the color that I want. Positives: no strong smell, no orange - perfect color, control the level of tan - 1 hour, 2 hours, 3 hours, easy to apply and leaves no streaks if you apply correctly; stays on your skin after rinsing - no transfer to clothing that I noticed; no skin sensitivity and I normally break out after using most products Negatives: felt a little sticky after applying, but you get to rinse it over after your selected time, so this really isn't much of a negative; cost - it is a little pricey, but to me it is DEFINITELY worth it!

If you need a sign to buy this is it! I’ve used so any self tanners so I’d consider myself an expert on self tanning. This product smells clean and unlike all other spray tans. It’s an excellent color. It spreads well. You can see where it’s been applied. It’s comfortable to sit in and doesn’t look crazy when you’re tanning, which I don’t necessarily mind BUT it’s a plus…

I wish I could give it 5 stars because it has a GREAT color that looks dark but natural. Only frustration with it is how streaky it goes on. It takes almost half an hour to apply just to ensure there aren't streaks. Overall great product though!

I switched to this from the other St. Tropez tanning mousse, and I much prefer this! It doesn't come off on your clothes and get's dark so fast. I am not very good about showering after a couple of hours, so I normally wear it most of the day. It does get pretty dark, but once I wash it off, its fine. I think its very natural looking! You just have to watch not getting too streaky - you can't always tell where you've put it on.

As a very fair lady who doesn't go into th sun, I have used self tanner for most of my life. I need dark bronzing colors just to look like I have some tan being I am so fair. St. Tropez Self Tanner Express Bronzing Mousse has been my go to for the past 2 years. Easy to apply with a mitt, easy to fix if I am not thorough enough on first application and any color that transfers to my clothes is machine washed away. My dermatologist told me to keep doing what I'm doing during my last skin cancer screen. If you are fair, don't hesitate because of the darker color. It will match your current skin tone without looking fake!

My absolute favorite self tanner that I’ve tried! Leaves no streaks, and I usually let it set for the full 3 hours to get the full effect, which leaves a nice golden but natural tan. It does leave a slight “suntan” smell in your skin for about a day after rinsing, but I have yet to find a self tanner that DOESN’T do that. I usually re-apply once a week or a few days past that. This has become my go-to self tanner as a pale girlie who wants a natural tan.

This tanner is just okay for the price. I have cool-neutral undertones and I do think this tends to pull orange. In the past I used Tanologist Dark in the purple/clear bottle and I used to get way more compliments on skin tone with that. I think it has a more olive look than St. Tropez does. It’s also way cheaper. This does have a scent and is sticky/dry feeling on. The color does last around a week.
