  • Poor quality
Style: Medium-light/Fast Size: 6'6" Configuration: 2 Pc.
I loved the rod super light but I tried to pick it up half way up the rod and it snapped and I can do that with my 30 dollar ugly stick and it would be fine so I was very disappointed in st croix ability ,it was the one company that I thought I knew wouldn't break but I was very wrong so I will not give st croix a mother penny of my money ... show more

  • The pole is garbage and breaks after one use
Style: Ultra-light/Fast Size: 5'6" Configuration: 2 Pc.
Wish I could leave a negative star on this product and company. Bought this rod in March as a birthday gift for my husband we live in a state that does not have year round fishing. Fishing season starts in May. My husband used the pole one time last weekend (memorial day weekend) and caught a 10 inch bass with it and the pole snapped in half. We reached out to the company who is refusing to give us our money back because of a 30 days warranty. We were not able to use the pole in the first 30 days because the fishing season was not open in that first 30 days. Save your money and buy a $20 pole from Walmart because they are much better quality they this piece of garbage and if they break you can return them and get your money back. Not happy with this company or their customer service or their products. ... show more

  • THE trout rod
Style: Light/Fast Size: 6'6" Configuration: 1 Pc.
I recently bought a 6-1/2 ft rod, light/fast. For me, the St. Croix has been excellent for trout fishing, all year long. If you buy such a high quality rod, then I would recommend that you pair it with the best spinner reel that you can get. These 2 components, will allow you to feel EVERY bump, from feeling the bottom of the bed, to the ever-slightest tap from the fish. A hard hit, and a successful hook set allow you to experience every bit of fight and pull from the fish. I love the light/fast, because even an average sized fish will give you a handful of action. Each catch feels like a beast. ... show more

  • Great rod, expensive, but great.
Style: Medium-light/Fast Size: 6'0" Configuration: 1 Pc.
I fish a small river/large creek about 150 days a year. I had been using a St Croix 6' 6" ML Triumph until I made a stupid mistake and broke it. The replacement program will replace it for $70 + shipping, but that's not far off a new one. So I bought a 6' ML Triumph this time. I really like it a lot more than the old one. This one is easier to work in and around trees, and has plenty of backbone for hook sets. It's expensive (by my standards anyway), but I think it's phenominal. If you can afford it, it's worth it. ... show more

  • snapped in half fourth trip out
Style: Medium-light/Fast Size: 7'0" Configuration: 2 Pc.
Under the weight of a fairly small trout (3 pounds or so) , this rod snapped straight in half the fourth time my son used it. My dad had warned me that St Croix rods were inconsistent quality. Really crappy .

  • A nice solution for ultra-light lures
Style: Ultra-light/Fast Size: 5'6" Configuration: 2 Pc.
The rod has a perfect feel for casting ultra-light lures (~1/8 ounce). I was disappointed with other rods, and found this to be just right for my application. It is well made, and strong enough to handle a 3-pounder. I have modified this review on 9/3/21. The rod broke on the second outing, as I attempted to dislodge a snag (with 6 lb test line). Perhaps I put too much stress on the rod. That's not the point of my downgrade. I have tried twice to reach their customer service, leaving a message and expecting a callback -- but none was received. As far as I can tell, there is no customer service at St. Croix! ... show more

  • Rod breaks easily
Style: Ultra-light/Fast Size: 5'6" Configuration: 2 Pc.
The media could not be loaded. I trout fish using st croix rods. This rod was a replacement for the last one that broke. Both rods broke in the same spot. I will now have to pay another $50 for the warranty. My other st croix 1 piece rods are strong and durable. This model must have a defect. This rod broke the first day that I fished with it. ... show more

  • Get em if you can find em.
Style: Medium/Fast Size: 6'6" Configuration: 4 Pc.
These are the best. Hard to find these days. Anything below this price point is Chinese garbage. St. Croix backs the product but you won't likely ever need a repair or replacement. I have the 6'6" medium 4 piece and the 5'6" ultra light 4 piece. Both are great backcountry smallmouth set ups.
