BUYER BEWARE! I got this rod as a birthday gift on Sept 2020, did not use it until July of 2021. After a solid day of fishing, on my last fish, the rod broke. I have not been able to get a hold of customer service, amazon nor st croix. Absolutely devastated this happened and even worse customer service is not reachable or responsive. I think there are better options that will last you longer and not crush your wallet. To spend $189 on a rod like this and get left out to dry is unacceptable. If St Croix or amazon wants to respond and resolve this issue, I am happy to do it and would appreciate that very much ... show more

Mine came in a hard case and the rod is sweet! I use it for surf fishing mostly and it casts big mullet a mile. I cought a couple snook, 40+ inch slobs, pulled them against the tide out from under a bridge. The rod performed perfectly.

This thing is sweet, I have always loved St. Croix rods but never had a surf rod. Rigged everything up and casted from the drive way and this thing launches a 4oz weight with 40 lb test.
