This is a solid foundation and was a great value. But make sure that you have a socket wrench and electric screw driver for assembly. It took about 30 minutes to assemble.

I read a TON of reviews on this one and others like it, and also compared to the black metal ones and decided on the wood instead. It was lighter, yet sturdier and easier to maneuver. I purchased a full size one and the one that is only 5 inches high to fit a very antique full size bed. I used my existing 1 x4 slats that extend across the side rails and this box spring fit like a glove and is solid. As with other reviews, the cover is a bit tedious to put on, but I did everything alone without issue really, from carrying it up my historic staircase, getting it out of the box, assemblage and insertion into the bed frame. The only issue I had was when I was inserting the threaded bolt screws into some of the holes as assembly. The manufacturer was not careful in making sure that when they shot the staples into some of the pre-assembled areas, that the angle of those staples were far enough away from the pre-drill holes for the bolt screws, so I had to get a screwdriver and with a hammer, insert the screwdriver and use the hammer on the end of the screwdriver to bend the staple end into the wood, so the bolt screw would clear the pre-drilled hole. For someone that does woodwork and rehabbing, this solution was easy for me, but for others, it might affect the number of stars given or be perceived as a bad purchase. It's an easy thing to remedy using my method. Having the low profile option was great as I was wanting to purchase a certain thickness of mattress and with vintage bed frames, they sit low to begin with so you can't have a total depth that is too thick and high for such a bed frame. This box spring worked perfectly to get me the end result of a 15" depth since I purchased a 10" thick mattress. So, yes, these things can give a myriad of review results across the board, but really the important thing to know is that wood is lighter and less cumbersome and dangerous to wood floors or knees or just in general. Assembly was super easy. All parts were present in the box and they even gave you a few extra bolt screws and screws for the slats. The only issue I have with the screws for the slats is that they are NOT wood screws as they should be, but they give you basic drywall screws which can easily snap off in wood. I had no problems, but I just want to note for the record that you get drywall screws instead of wood screws. Overall, happy with my purchase.

1. This foundation is made of cheap, poor quality wood, of the sort used for disposable shipping pallets. The side rails of the twin size that I received were made of a different species than the end rails. Most of the pieces did not fit together properly: - The shape of the end rails did not fit the side rails, so a pointy protrusion presented on assembly, as seen in the photo. - All of the slats were too long. I had to trim them, with the only power saw I presently own, a 45 year old jig saw with a rough blade that kept falling off. See photos. 2. The assembled foundation was skimpy. It was cited on Amazon’s sell page as measuring 74.5"L x 38"W x 8"H. However, the actual measurements were 73 3/4” L X 37 3/4” W X 7 1/2” H. Note that a standard twin metal bed frame runs 74"L x 38.5"W x 7"H. This means that this foundation barely rests on the frame’s side rails, and is primarily supported by the end and middle horizontal rails, which is not as secure as it should be had this foundation measured as advertised. 3. The cover was much too small in width, length, and depth. I could barely get it on the foundation. It should have been ample enough that the drawstring casing would fold to the underside to completely enclose the side and end rails. 4. It is unlikely that this foundation is actually made in the US. It is more likely that the side and end rails are shipped here by the boat load. Then the pieces in lengths appropriate for various bed sizes are merely boxed, shipped, and distributed in the US. - Numerous grammatical errors on Amazon’s sell page indicate they were written by a non-native speaker, probably Chinese. For example, “Unasemble Box Spring,” and “ Manufactured with light & dense lumber wood, saves from cracking and loose.” - There is no information on the sell page, shipping box, mailing labels, or printed instructions that identifies what alleged US company manufactures the foundation. The instructions are titled “KD - Mattress Foundation.” “KD” stands for Knock Down, a generic term for unassembled. These foundations are sold under various names by many furniture companies and through Amazon. 5. I strengthened this foundation for use with a heavy latex mattress by adding 11 - 1x2” furring strips cut to fit between the original slats, secured with self drilling wood screws. A few years ago, I bought an unassembled Classic Brands foundation that was much better quality all around, but it is no longer available in a twin. I resent being stuck with such a poor quality product that was not as advertised. I am worried about the safety of the item. Amazon seems to have a high tolerance for skimpy, shabby, falsely described merchandise, probably not actually made in the USA as stated.

I'm not going to lie, when I first saw the box that had been shipped to us I started to freak out. I had to check the listing again to make sure it was the wooden box spring I had ordered, sure enough there was no mistake. I went to open the box and that is when I noticed that it comes disassembled with pre drilled holes in it. It comes with all the hardware needed and a fabric cover for the final assembled product. It took my 10 year old son and I about 20-30 minutes to get it fully assembled with the help of a power drill and the included Allen key/wrench. I definitely recommend this product. It has been a couple months and it has held up very well and the wood used is very sturdy! I will be buying from this seller in the future.

Purchased to change guest room bed from a full to a queen. The box is a little heavy, but I am in my late 70's and I got it into the house by myself by flipping it end over end. Assembly was easy. Everything predrilled lined up perfectly. I used a socket wrench rather than the wrench enclosed and a drill to for the screws. After assembled, my husband did help me get it into the bedroom and place it on the frame.
