  • Negative Reviews = user error. Excellent tool, 10/10 recommend Negative Reviews = user error. Excellent tool, 10/10 recommend
Color: Black Style: Home Professional
I’m going to preface this with what I am working with: I have fine, medium to high density growth hair that is waist length. It is naturally a level 2/3 but bleached to a level 9/10 and is poker straight. It is reasonable to say that I had split ends to address and am tired of having to sacrifice length to address the damage. The picture included is of a section that was almost entirely split and damaged at the ends. I was on the fence about purchasing this tool due to the reviews I read. One customer review incorrectly claimed that the way this product works is by “pulling the hair and tearing it with a rubber blade.” That is not true- the spinning rubberized paddle lifts the damaged ends and allows tiny blades cleverly set to the sides of it and trims them. I also noticed a review claiming it pulls hair and found that is what happens if you have damaged hair and run it through from the top. You aren’t even supposed to brush your hair like that let alone run a tool with a comb like feature through it. If you start at the ends then progressively start higher and higher, it will sort through it without catching. It needs a good gripping surface in order to stabilize the shaft in order for the split ends to lift and separate. A lot of the cases I noticed of people saying it’s not effective are due to people also running it through hair that has a lot of product in it. If you have lubricants and heavy lipid/oil based products in it, it will interfere with the machine’s ability to sever the damage. This is why the instructions clearly state to have DRY and clean hair. One user even ran it through damp hair and was mystified that it didn’t work as well as it should. You MUST use thing sections, you will have to run it through the same sections multiple times, and you will get excellent results if you don’t screw up. I promise. After spending a few hours using it, I can say my hair went from easily tangling with dry ends to healthy, silky, and more manageable. I did not lose length, and if anything it looks thicker due to the damaged ends no longer being there. All of the split ends I observed are effectively gone, and this has changed my hair and ensured that I no longer need to chop off entire sections in order to address isolated, damaged ends. It is worth every penny provided you have patience and competence. 10/10 highly recommend. ... show more

  • New holy grail
Color: Black Style: Home Professional
I’m so glad I finally invested in this after years of debating. I have a lot of hair, but it’s very fine and prone to breakage, something that’s only gotten worse from years of heat styling and color treatments. The mixed reviews made me hesitant, but since I cut and style my hair at home, I decided it was worth trying. The manual was clear and easy to follow, and the results honestly exceeded my expectations. It was simple to use, didn’t snag at all, and left my hair feeling noticeably healthier. When I went through my hair afterward, I could barely find any split ends left. Some reviews noted not to use this if you have layers in your hair, I do & didn't notice anything bad. I used to dread trimming split ends with scissors because it felt never-ending, but this made the process quick and actually effective (maybe 30 min total?) My hair looks and feels better than it has in a long time, and my confidence has improved because of it. I love trying different beauty tools, and this may be my all time favorite. Truly worth every penny. My only regret is not taking a before and after photo!! ... show more

  • Read to know WHY this is trash Read to know WHY this is trash
Color: Black Style: Home Professional
So I’ve had my eye in this since the first iteration, and I finally decided to sacrifice my hair to science with the “pro 2”, naively hoping they fixed the issues with it. Spoiler alert, they did not. :( I too am a “seek and destroy” type, snipping split ends with sharp scissors. I desperately wanted an easier solution. This is NOT it!!! First, let me explain how this tool works. It does not seek out split ends. It rolls your hair around a rod, so that the ends pop out as you slide the tool down the shaft of hair. A silicone flap pushes the popped ends into a what is essentially a giant beard trimmer. So every single hair end that is caught by the flap will have a 1/4” cut off, regardless of whether it is split or not. That’s why you have to go over super thin sections several times. Every hair doesn’t pop up with each pass. If it all worked as intended, it would be fine. It wouldn’t get every split. It would cut some hairs that don’t need it. But would be an excellent compromise. Here’s the actual problem. It doesn’t trim the hair ends. It RIPS the ends off. So now, not only are my existing split ends WORSE… But every single hair that went through (even the healthy ones) now have huge splits! My hair has never been more split in my life. I now have to decide whether to spend several days hand trimming all of these splits, or bite the bullet and get six inches of hair cut off. For me, that’s a full year of growth after trims. I will say, my hair is very fine. So perhaps of you have very coarse hair, you will get by. But I highly recommend only snagging the bottom couple of inches until you know how your hair will do. Actually, I highly recommend skipping this tool entirely. It’s a pipe dream. Can someone please make one that freaking works??? I added a picture to show that nearly every hair is now split. I’ve NEVER had splits this bad, and we haven’t even gotten into the depths of the dry winter. Update: 3 months later… I had 2.5 inches cut off the ends. My stylist made a cursory cut of the mid-length splits during the cut. Then I spent at least 6 straight hours binging Netflix and trimming my ends “seek and destroy” style. Taking TINY sections until I’d gone through my entire head. I still have more split ends than any other time in my life. Basically every single hair ended in a split. It’s finally manageable again. As long as I keep it highly conditioned, I don’t get massive tangles that make the splits worse. I can finally wear my hair down again. Biggest hair mistake since getting ahold of scissors in elementary school. Don’t do it!!! ... show more

  • NO LAYERS/ UNEVEN HAIRCUT, ONLY USE IF HAIR IS THE SAME LENGTH
Color: Black Style: Home Professional
This does the job and if you follow the directions it can def be a useful tool. HOWEVER! IF YOU HAVE LAYERS OR UNEVEN BREAKAGE, THIS WILL MAKE IT WORSE. i bought this to trim the back of my hair that i can’t see, where i have major breakage from bleach damage. It broke my hair and gave it even more splits. If your hair is all the same length and you use it only on the ends, it’s a solid trimmer. There are blades inside - the rubber part is just to rotate your hair before it gets snipped. For my ends, it worked well. But for my breakage? It made it worse. I tested it on a small lock of hair in the back. I’m glad i didn’t do my whole head. Don’t use hair products, use it on dry hair, and even hair (no layers!) and i think it will be fine. But if you have uneven hair DONT DO IT! ... show more

  • Perfect for the OCD long hair consumer obsessed with split ends
Color: Red Style: Home Professional
So, first let me say… I’m by no means a hair professional. Just someone that has long, thick and processed hair that… for some reason since I turned 38 has become obsessed with my split ends. No one else could tell… but I notice and will sit there for hours sometimes with hair scissors trying to go after them. Yea… I’m odd … but whatever. Lol. My practice of hours on end trimming has done very little (obviously). So, I stumbled on this product while looking for other split end cream to try. Got it today…. And I love it! I’m not posting the pictures I took for before and after, because honestly… it doesn’t really capture any noticeable difference. But: 1. It feels 100% softer 2. My hair isn’t tangling on it self constantly (which you long hair gals know that busting through those snags causes more breakage than anything). 3. It really only goes after the tips. So those split ends that are split >1/2 inch up the shaft are really not effective. HOWEVER…. I would imagine that consistency using this every few weeks would prevent future split from even getting to that point. Pairing it with a good shaft sealer or toner would like have really good outcomes. 4. Very easy to use. Only trick is not letting your finger slip to the other direction while using. Just shuts it off. But a bit awkward placement of the buttons. Your hand does get a bit tired. But the whole process for very long (goes just past chest) and thick hair takes about 30 min. Not bad at all. That is doing the 3 swipes method… though honestly only did the bottom portion of hair second and third time. 5. Don’t be concerned about it choppping off your hair or anything. It doesn’t. After all was said and done, there was only about a tablespoon or 2 of hair in the trappings. Maybe 1/2 cm in length each. 6. Recommend flat ironing hat first and using a soft bristle brush on each strand right before using. (Watched a few videos prior to using and worked well). IN SUMMARY- Don’t expect drastic visible results. But, you can feel how much healthier your hair is in between going to get a hair cut. I believe using this every 2-3 weeks with a good hair repair crème or toner that seals cuticles will result in progressively healthier hair. My only concern is that dull blades cause breakage. So after using for several months may need to find a way to replace blade. Very expensive product. But if you are into spending whatever it takes for healthy long hair… I think it’s well worth it. Hope you enjoy it as I have! ... show more

  • Did not hold a charge as advertised but LOVE IT when it DID worked
Color: Black Style: Home Professional
I bought a used on and thought it would be fine. It worked for about 10 uses, but then it became apparent that something is wrong with the battery. Once it was out of battery power, I couldn't get it to charge back up. By the time I figured it out, it was too late to return. When I COULD get it to work, it was great, love the product. But for a product over $100, I expect it to hold a charge and last longer. NOT worth the purchase and now I'll be more careful about buying products used. ... show more

  • Exceeded My Expectations! I'm So Happy with the Results! Exceeded My Expectations! I'm So Happy with the Results!
Color: Black Style: Home Professional
I have fine, high density hair (thin hair, but a lot of it!). I've had my hair highlighted for years, and now I'm trying to grow it out and eliminate the damage. My hair is also cut in layers; I'm trying to grow these out, too. I was tired of my hair being heavy, split, brittle, and breaking due to the years of lightening. To make the process of growing my hair out more attractive, I decided to splurge and purchase the Split-Ender Pro 2. This product does exactly as advertised, as long as the consumer follows directions. Clean, straight, dry hair is necessary to get the full benefits from this item! I love that this trimmer is cordless; it makes using it so much easier! And the results are 1,000 times better than I was expecting. My hair, while still having some damage towards the ends, is smooth, soft, shiny, and light-weight. The amount of hair that I've emptied from the trap is insane to me! I use it on a weekly basis in order to keep up with the maintenance. With all of this being said, I do feel that this item is definitely considered a "splurge" (I purchased it for $135). And I realize that it did not get rid of all the damage within my hair; however, the packaging advertises that it removes up to 90% of split ends, and I feel that that is an accurate statement. ... show more

  • Love it! Love it!
Color: Red Style: Home Professional
Didn’t want to purchase a cheap one as I don’t want to damage my hair any further. My hair stylist over processed my hair so I have a lot of breakage and frizziness. I did 3 slow passes on a small amount of hair with the arrow pointed down in the direction of the hair/side I was doing and it trimmed a lot of the ends off safely! Hair feels smoother and looks less frizzy (results better in person). Easy to use and easy to clean. I did wish the clamp opened wider so it’s easier to use hence the 4 stars. If you add too much hair the clamp will tug your hair, so that’s a sign to do less hair at a time. Not sure why my sink was full of snippets and some larger pieces from when I added too much hair (which was my fault because I proceeded anyways.) If you forget to select the opposite arrow and use it anyways don’t worry! Hair doesn’t get chopped off, I’m guessing it just doesn’t do anything. Takes a bit of time because they recommend 3 passes per section but it’s worth it and it’s fun to use just a bit noisy. I’m hoping that the pro has better blades and longer life. I didn’t want to risk buying a cheap one since I’m trying to mend my damaged hair not damage it further. Overall happy with the results and will be using periodically to maintain healthy ends. ... show more
