  • Vacuum-Sealed Moss That Springs to Life
When I first saw the package, I thought there was no way this flat, vacuum-sealed slab could be enough moss for my needs—it looked almost paper-thin. But give it a little time in my naturally humid (around 70%) environment, and it plumped up fast. I’m not using it for reptiles, though—it’s for my “savage garden” of carnivorous plants. Today’s project was transplanting a sulking purple pitcher plant into a freshly 3D printed swamp pot I designed in ASA filament. The pot has a deep water reservoir to keep the moss constantly saturated, and this sphagnum is doing exactly what I need it to: holding moisture evenly, staying soft, and helping maintain a healthy microclimate around the roots. The moss is impressively clean—no big twigs or debris to pick out—and it has a neutral, fresh scent. Once hydrated, it turns into a fluffy, workable medium that’s easy to pack around roots or use as a top dressing. I could see it working just as well in a reptile humid hide, egg-laying area, or amphibian setup, but in my case, it’s keeping the swamp pot evenly moist without breaking down too quickly. It’s worth noting that while the listing shows a branded bag, mine arrived in a plain clear vacuum-sealed pouch. That’s not a complaint—if anything, it kept the product fresh and compact for shipping. Given how much volume you get after rehydrating, it’s easy to underestimate how far one pack will go. So far, my pitcher plant seems much happier in its new moss bed, and I’ve got enough left over for future projects. For plant keepers or herp owners alike, this is a versatile, low-fuss medium that does exactly what it’s supposed to do. ... show more

  • Nice,clean,soft moss!
I am using this moss in my snails enclosure and it's great! It comes vacuum sealed and compressed. You soak it for 5-10 minutes and squeeze out excess water before adding to the enclosure(same as any other moss really). Its very soft, softer than zoo med brand that I've been using. It has a natural, light and clean smell.I haven't found any plastic or other bad materials in the bag I received. So that's awesome! It's much better, seems cleaner and more affordable than what I've been using and there are no dyes in it either, all natural.Pretty impressed at the amount you get and quality for the price.I will definitely order more of this moss as long as it's still available to purchase.Very happy and snails are too!Can definitely recommend this moss. ... show more

  • Good quality sphagnum moss that seems to have the larger roots and such filtered out
This sphagnum moss was packaged well (vacuum packed), rehydrates easily, smells clean, looks fresh, and seems like they did a good job of removing the larger twigs/roots/tendrils that I often find in moss. I appreciate not having to pick them out. I'm using it in a humid hide for a boa and it's working exactly as intended. I also mix a little in with my potted plants that like a wetter soil. Overall, I don't have any complaints about the product. I do wish it were sold in larger quantities, since this is something I use pretty regularly. ... show more

  • Good quality moss. rehydrates easily and is soft and clean.
This sphagnum moss arrived vacuum sealed in a flat envelope. It rehydrates easily to a soft, fluffy state and is odorless and clean. I'm using this in a soil mix for a terrarium that is housing Giant African Millipedes. This provides the moisture and volume needed to help the tank maintain the humidity they need to thrive, and this moss works exactly as it should- no complaints and this is a good deal. ... show more

  • Came VERY Compressed
This moss does NOT come in the package it shows on the listing, it came in a plain clear bag and was vacuum compressed to nearly paper-thin. This is not an issue, just be aware you are not getting puffed up moss. Once soaked and allowed to rehydrate, it fluffed up as one would expect. I use this in various terrariums, as well as my isopod tanks and some exotic roach tanks. This one package went a long way and I was able to add it to about a dozen different small containers for both humidity retention and aesthetics. Overall, no complaints! ... show more

  • Good stuff to have around
This is good for plants and for terrariums. I use it to make humid hides for my reptiles when it's time for them to shed or if their humidity is getting too low without constant misting. I like the look of green sphagnum moss better, but this brown kind still does the job. For plants, you can top your soil with it to keep it moist longer in the summer. ... show more
