The California Debut™ Redondo® CE features resilient laminate construction with a spruce top and sapele back and sides for satisfying tone, while a 25 ½” scale neck with a slim “C”-shaped profile provides an effortless playing feel. The onboard Fender electronics provide high-quality output for live amplification, recording and effects, as well as a convenient onboard digital tuner. • Best value for your money beginners!
Color: Black
Fantastic guitar!! If you’re a beginner, this thing is way underpriced for the value. Picked it up on a Prime Day deal, just to noodle around on. Right out of the box, all it needed was a quick tuning, and it was good to go. On board tuner, and a pickup allows for amplified playing. The tone is incredible. I’m floored by the quality of this guitar for the price I paid. Not sure what kind of wood it is, but the black guitar has a matte finish that’s beautiful. So far it seems like a really sturdy guitar! I’m also not hearing and buzzy frets either! ... show more

  • Performs above its price range
Color: 2-Tone Sunburst
So far, it plays more like a $300 guitar than a $170 guitar. The strings it came with sound amazing, it's just the right size to fit in a standard 41-inch guitar case, and it also just looks awesome. I like how it has the electric guitar style neck, too. The quality is nice, you can see that it doesn't have top-tier electronics, but that's expected for a sub-$200 guitar. Overall, I think it's a great guitar for beginners and even some light performance use. ... show more

  • Great in so many ways
Color: Natural
This is impressive all around, not just "for the money." Great finish. Fantastic looks. Very good tones. Very good playability. The action was just over 2mm at the 12th fret. I can get it lower without doing fret work. The tuners work fine, and are better than what comes on the Squier Deput series. The tuner is a fantastic feature and works very well, with precision. It even came with a battery. Note, I also bought one finished in black and that was wasn't great. The tuners were bad and the finish scratched very easily. It sounds good though. ... show more

  • Debut Redondo CE much better than expected
Color: 2-Tone Sunburst
This is what I was looking for: a cheap well-made guitar to just knock around with. it was delivered quickly, very well packaged. It was immediately apparent that this is a budget guitar, definitely not an heirloom item. It's an unbelievably cheap Fender and it feels like it compared to my others, but it's about what I expected. The body feels light and cheap but the binding is quite good. Not a fan of the satin finish. The tuners are about what I expected, cheap but not terrible. The neck I thought was good. Fretboard is better than expected, frets are level and the ends needed about10 minutes of work, took a bit of relief off the neck, strings are also pretty good for this price. It plays well and sounds surprisingly good. Overall, I'm very pleased with this and the Fender headstock is a bonus. If you're looking for something like this, grab it now before the price goes back up. ... show more

  • Nice guitar, well made, classic Fender!
Color: 2-Tone Sunburst
Very nice guitar, for the money and don't kid yourself, this is not beginner guitar but all around good acoustic with a spruce top. Needs some light set up but overall very nice. The frets are a bit edgy, but for the money you can set it up and even mod with a bone bridge to make sound even better. Pickup system sounds great and has a tuner. ... show more

  • Solid instrument
Color: 2-Tone Sunburst
Very impressive for the price. Easy to tune with onboard tuner, hold the tune and actually sounds amazingly good for the price. I did change strings when I first received the guitar but aside from that, really impressive instrument!

  • Outstanding value, but needs extensive setup
Color: 2-Tone Sunburst
Pros - Price. Way cheaper than it should be. - Electronics sound great and take pedals well. - Onboard tuner is super convenient. - Once set up, outstanding sound and feel. Cons - Needs extensive set up but nothing crazy - fretboard and bridge very dry. They drank 3 coats of oil. - fret ends very sharp. Borderline unsafe to play out of the box. Beginners beware. Especially if you’re buying this for your kid. Easy to fix though. - g string tuner was so tight, it was hard to move. Easy fix with a screwdriver. - pickguard looks and feels cheap - action was too low. Had to replace saddle. Which you want to do anyway to get a decent bone saddle for resonance. - frets 3, 8, 11, 14, and 15 were high. Had to level and polish all frets. - factory strings were garbage, but that’s all guitars. - nut was plastic, but well cut. Easy to replace with bone when swapping strings. - pins were plastic. Easy to replace with rosewood. - the body and neck felt almost gritty. Not matte like vos. More like they forgot to a final sanding before boxing it up. I hit it with a single pass of 400 grit on a foam block, and it feels good now. With the right tools, it took me 45 minutes to set up. Plus $11 of parts (saddle, nut, and pins). ... show more

  • A pleased pro player
Color: 2-Tone Sunburst
Spending some time helping a family member in California and didn't want to be without a guitar since I play a few hours daily and did not want to deal with flight checking my Gibson or Martin so I figured I'd see what I can get on the cheap and have it delivered to my destination. I already own an Acoustisonic so this one looked familiar and having electronics would enable me the option to play some of my small local Cali gigs when needed in a pinch. Wow! It was set up well right out of the box, tuners are tight but it stays in tune. The smaller neck feels just like my Acoustisonic and the sound is bold and balanced and intonation with a capo is good. Don't hesitate to pick one of these up at this price. Worst case, you can eventually gift it to a beginner knowing it is easy to play. Unfortunately I don't have access to a PA this week so I can't provide insight on how it sounds electronically. I've played it for about 20 hours this week and I actually think I am going to miss it when I go home. ... show more
