I've never seen a cooling vest for dogs, but I've always wanted one. I have a 95-pound yellow Labrador, and it's very hard to find things in his size. When I saw this available, in size 3XL, I ordered it immediately for my dog. It fits him perfectly. This is a pretty vest with a pattern of blue and pink swirls on polyester fabric, and you can either get the vest wet all over, wring out the excessive water, and put it on your dog before you go for a walk, or you can moisten it and keep it in the freezer and either put it on your dog before you go out or wait and put it on when you come home all hot and sweaty. I'll have to start with that method first, since when he's very hot he's more likely to appreciate the vest than if he was doing fine in the air conditioning without it and might refuse to wear it. My dog hates wearing coats of all kinds and acts like they're shameful and he looks silly. I did get him to wear a warm coat once and a warm raincoat once during the arctic freeze in the winter of 2022-2023, but that was it. I'll keep ours in the freezer and moisten it again and put it on after we get home from a long, hot walk, when he's more likely to appreciate it. The only minor flaw in this vest is that it goes over your dog's head, and my dog hates that. I think lots of dogs do. In this case, it's easier, and it gives your dog fuller chest cover than a wraparound coat with buckles. It does have "side-release buckles for easy wear and removal. The vest provides SPF 50 UV protection to shield your dog from sunburn and skin issues." Those are definitely major pluses, especially for light-colored dogs. So, the first hot day we have, and that might be just this weekend, we'll try out the vest in the heat. I did get him to try it on, which was a major accomplishment, and I don't think he'll be unwilling to wear this when it's full summer. Now I only need one of these for myself. My dog weighs 95 pounds, maybe a few more, and is a long, standard Labrador. The 3XL fits him perfectly. The seller encourages us to visit the Spark Paw store, and I hope they have this in a full range of sizes. We got lucky here with my dog's exact size. That never happens with a 3XL! I think this is an excellent product that all dogs, especially in the south, during the summertime heat, will appreciate once they get used to it. It's soft, breathable, and it seems comfortable to me. I worry about my dog in this unusually hot weather all summer long, and I'll feel much better about his well-being when we use this vest. If he doesn't want to wear it walking, he'll change his tune when we come home hot, sweaty, and exhausted. This seems to be a very good product, and I'll update my review if we have any problems when it's actually hot enough to need this. In the meantime, I'd like to encourage the seller of this vest to make one in human sizes, too, and get it out here as soon as possible. I have lupus, and I can't take much heat.

I like this cool down dog vest because my little house dog is not used to being outside for longer periods of time in the spring/summer heat. The 4 rating is because of the fit, everything I order or buy is different, there is no consistency. Therefore, this vest is a little big on her but covers more area for her comfort. She loves to go for about a 45 minute walk and this vest can cool a pup down for around 60 minutes. To get the vest cool again, just rinse in water and wring it out. Another great thing about this vest is the SPF 50 UV protection. Hopefully this summer my hot doggy will be a cool doggy!

Our household currently has eight dogs, seven of which are between 40-80 pounds each, so they are all good-sized dogs. Summers in our area (mid-Atlantic region of the USA) can be hot and humid, and our dogs appreciate having a cooling vest if they are out on an extended hike, so this product was an obvious one to consider. Packaging: The vest arrived packed far better than I expected. It came in a cardboard box, approximately 4"x12"x16". Upon opening the cardboard shipping box, I found air bags inside, providing cushioning protection for the cooling vest, which was itself inside a nice, large zip-lock style bag. In the bag with the vest, there was also a silicon packet to soak up any moisture that might have been in the air when the vest was packed. Manufacturing Quality of Vest: Upon opening the bag and removing the cooling vest, the first thing I did was check all the stitching for the vest. I looked for missed sections, loose threads, etc. and found no issues of concern. Then I checked the latching buckles to make sure they worked as expected, and they were fine. I was actually surprised to see that the buckles were clear, rather than a solid black, which is more common. There are two latching buckles; the design of the vest is such that a section of the vest comes under the dog's neck and lays along the underside where the dog's chest is. That chest section is connected on each side by an adjustable elastic with a buckle on each side. The vest also has two elastic backstraps (one for each rear leg) to ensure that the vest stays in place, not just around the chest of the dog, but along the spine of the dog as well. The elastic backstraps operate as expected; however, in my opinion, the elastic backstraps are thin. I would prefer to see them slightly wider. My guess is that if any part of the vest were to wear out or fail over time, it would be the elastic in the backstraps first. Sizing/Fit: We received a size 3XL. It fits a muscular American Pit Bull Terrier, weighing approximately 53 lbs. In order to have it fit him, we needed to tighten each of the chest elastics that use the buckles as far as it would go. The length was good, and the rear leg elastics fit as well. We also tried it on our lanky, long-backed Treeing Walker Coonhound. With the adjustable straps, it fit perfectly. It is a very versatile product in terms of size adjustments. Color/Pattern: The item we received has a pretty multi-color (almost tie-dye) effect. Not that the dog would care about the color or pattern :) Usage: As we just received the cooling vest, we haven't had a chance to use it "in the field" yet.
