solid 3.8. i wanted to love it so badlyyyy. there were some inconsistencies, i feel like the blood for blood fight was pushed to the side, and that the story was rushed along for the last 30%. i don’t want to spoil it because i think people should read it. i loved giovanni and max and enzo. loved crazy mama. loved the foreign language actually being used. there was good banter. i did like the book but i feel like it could have been so much better if certain encounters, experiences, and side characters weren’t brushed off as much. ALTHOUGH please support the author because this is her first book and authors need room to grow and make mistakes. much love <3 ... show more

The minute I saw the cover of Spades, I was sold! From the title to the synopsis I just knew it would be good. This book is a perfect mafia romance. I couldn’t get enough of how protective Giovanni was of Nina 🫶🏽 Did I mention he handed his card TO HER and told her to GO SHOPPING. No ifs ands or buts!🧎🏽♀️😌 I lived for their banter and how Nina was always pushing his buttons. Every single time this man said “Amore mio” I simply passed away. It has a true to form mafia romance plot which helps propel the story ( if I’m correct this is the first book in an interconnected series). There are definitely some nods to foreshadowing the other characters of the series and or scenes that we will get more explanation for in the future. This author does put the content warnings at the front of the book so I’d recommend people read them, also this book is not for people who can’t handle possessive main characters. Other than that if you like Sophie Lark books you will enjoy this book :). ... show more

This book was **chefs kiss**. It was just the right amount of everything. Nina is so confident and sassy, so Giovanni compliments her beautifully. I love their angst and the tension is hot🔥

this book was so freaking good! i loved both nina & gio’s characters sm. from the banter to the tension, this book was so addicting & i couldn’t put it down !! i usually don’t love mafia romances but this was one i absolutely loved. ALSO THE COVER !!!! it’s actually perfect. the only downside being that i wish it was longer. after seeing little glimpses of this book it’s so surreal to see it’s actually out. you did thisss i’m so proud of you kyra 🤍🤍🤍 ... show more

This story between Gio and Nina had soooo much potential but they confuse me so much with their split personalities…there’s so much going on with Gio’s problems I can’t understand. I did understand what his father did but it’s so random..everything is randomly mentioned. One moment he hates Rolando and they next they’re cool? One moment the author makes Rolando seem like a bad parent but then….he’s not? Then NINA!! Oh my God! One moment you’re scared of him but the next you’re all up on him? Taunting him? PICK A SIDE! Do you like him or not?! I’m so confused I stopped reading. ... show more
